Any publication that I have asked for and was not available at our library, has been found, borrowed from another library somewhere.... sometimes at great distance from Tallahassee. As to the indigents, excuse me but they are foremost: PEOPLE and then people who are indigent ie poor or homeless or both who have found a warm and wonderful space in which to spend hours. And, people dress much more casually these days. They may or may not be poor.... just based on their looks, one cannot tell. I have been treated only respectfully by people who sit in the library or outside on the benches. The people sitting about also like to be treated respectfully. A greeting as in "Good morning" or "Good afternoon" goes a long way and is not dangerous to the greeter. Years ago when I was on a trip to Malawi, so many people asked for money or gifts, etc. When we queried the local leader regarding how to handle such requests since we obviously were unable to give to so many, we were told, "people in Malawi feel they have the right to ask, AND you have the right to say no." I have appreciated that information on numerous occasions. Not to say that people at our library have ever asked me for money, etc. Many of the people who come to the library from various socio-economic groups like to read or use the computer. Maybe they don't have a computer in their home spaces or don't have WIFI in those spaces. I have seen many people applying for jobs in the computer areas and many younger people (usually) who are playing games on the computers. Sometimes it is louder than I like in the upstairs computer area. If i really want quiet, I go downstairs where quiet is maintained. It seems a reasonable compromise so the younger people can have a higher level of normal sounds. This library is a delight and a wonderful space with many resources available to the community. Thanks to local people who fund it through their taxes and the government that supports it. sue wiley

I am an older student working on a Master's degree at FSU. I took a tour of Strozier during…read moreorientation last year and remember being quite overwhelmed with the size of the library and the amount of services offered. I went in the other day to simply print one page from a document in an email. I didn't know where to start so I went to the info desk right as you walk in. There were three super eager, knowledgeable students there ready to help me. They told me I would need to put at least a dollar on a card to print. I told them I had no cash on me, but I had my debit card. They told me "no worries" and that it was .10 per page to print and handed me a card with .90 on it. Then the girl gave me verbal instructions about how to log in and print from their computers. She also told me to come back if I got stuck or had any other questions. I was able print my page without any difficulty because of their help! I also love that you can grab a Starbucks while you're in the library. So cool! I will explore other services offered here and write another review in the near future. Great experience!

Ever…read moresince freshman year, I've been coming here in my most stressful times whether it's cramming before an 8am test or rushing to submit an assignment due at midnight. I love using the whiteboards to organize my work plan for the day, and getting a Monster from the vending machine never hurts. Every time I'm on campus for the day, I use the microwave on the 1st floor to heat up my lunch. Be sure to bring headphones if you plan on working on the 1st or 2nd floor because it can get noisy, and if you're planning on coming during exam cram time good luck finding a seat. Strozier is one of my favorite parts of FSU!

In high school I went on a historically black college tour which ultimately made me choose FAMU. I visited 12 different HBCU's and I knew FAMU was the place for me. Florida A&M University has a deep and rooted history of producing African American Doctors, Lawyers, Teachers, Nurses, Business Owners, Politicians and many other professionals throughout its 129 years in existence. I believe around 85% of black pharmacists in Florida attended FAMU. This university produces excellence. There are extremely competitive academic programs in engineering, business, pharmacy, journalism and nursing. FAMU is a place of opportunity. Students who may not have otherwise had the opportunity to attend a 4 year institution are able to. The combination of students with varying academic skill levels creates such a unique environment. One that I am proud to have been a part of. Being the largest HBCU in the country the networking opportunities are endless. Like any other institution it has its challenges but if you are determined to succeed you will. From Academics to the Marching Band, Student Government, Greek Life and numerous student organizations social and professional - endless opportunities. Numerous improvements have been made from additional on campus housing options to campus eateries and extended library hours. The College of Love and Charity (as it is sometimes referred to) changed my life and if you're considering attending it can change yours.

Very nice auditorium, comfortable seating, good stage sound. Though parking on college campuses in this town is a thorn in my side due to vacillating between trying to make sure I find a park where I don't get towed or trying not to park a mile away from the venue! In any case, parking was a breeze this time, which was a load off my shoulder! LOL!
