We ended up going to ATB Watersports in the Nk'mip RV park to reserve a time. We were greeted (if you can call it that) by a very rude, stuck up woman. She was snippy when she advised us that they were all gone and didn't provide a time when we could come back to try again. It was like she couldn't be bothered to help us.. brutal! After that, we went over to 3 Phase Adventures and rented some SUP boards for an hour and a half (for the price of an hour btw). WAY cheaper than renting a Seadoo and way more fun. If you're looking to try out SUP, give these cats a try. 3 Phase Adventures were so helpful and friendly. After our experience with 3 Phase, we are looking into purchasing two SUP's for back home in Calgary. Thanks Coreena, Jason and Molson (their dog)!

Camping at Oroville is part of our summer tradition and we have been doing it now for the past 7…read moreyears. We enjoy it for several reasons: 1. It has a nice sandy beach with shade options if you want to stay closer to the trees. 2. The water in the lake is warm, clean and shallow...you can walk out 300 meters. 3. There is plenty of long flat sections of grass for the kids to play around on. 4. There are washrooms with running water and hot showers. 5. They never seem to have a campfire ban. 6. We are in a tent and you set up on grass. 7. Prince's is a very short walk away and they have everything one needs in terms of food and drink (including alcoholic beverages). 8. Trino's is a short walk away...and would suggest walking if you are sampling their margarita's. This is an ideal car camping family campground and great for groups. It is not a private wilderness experience. There is a concession stand at the beach but unfortunately the person running it does not have the greatest interpersonal or customer service skills. She seems to spend her day sitting at a table out front speaking with friends and smoking. That and the lack of privacy at the sites drops my rating to a 3 star. My kids enjoy coming back camping to Oroville each year so I am happy to recommend camping here. TIP: There are not a lot of trees in the campground and with the intense summer sun, highly recommend purchasing a canopy for sun ( & possibly rain) protection.

We got there at 10:30pm after a 7 hour trek due to traffic and a detour from a bridge that was out (should have taken around 5 hours). Apparently, you are supposed to arrive by 10pm and we were scolded by the park ranger for being late. After repeatedly telling us it is now "quiet hours" and we have to be very quiet setting up with no banging or bright lights, we made our way to our tree-less campsite (okay, there was 1 tree). We got out of the car and were greeted by a live blues band booming from across the lake! So much for "quiet hours". We were laughing so hard. Not to mention, there was a rowdy bunch at a campfire across the way. We were very relieved and settled in at our fire with a cold beer. The lake is very beautiful and warm, but we weren't able to enjoy it because it was cold and rainy. This definitely put a damper on things...I probably would have given this place 3 stars if we had been able to bask in the sun all day on our tubes. I guess it's usually extremely hot there and it rarely rains, which is why I booked it, so we just got unlucky with a bad weather weekend. My boyfriend built us a pretty sweet rain shelter with a tarp and dead tree branches and the park ranger came by saying, "Well, that's pretty creative, but the wind is going to take it down". Awesome. Thanks for your optimism. The bathrooms and showers were clean, but you have to buy tokens to use the showers. 2 tokens for $1 gets you 6 minutes. It's a dog friendly place with lots of room for them to run around by the lake. I do have to say that this campground seems like a great family place. There were a ton of campers and kids. I don't think we'll go back before we have our own little tikes running around...and that's not for a while :) One more thing...the is a store called Prince's in walking distance and it has everything you could possibly need for camping!

We love camping with the convenience of a restaurant on site. The owners and staff are friendly. The food is delicious 95% of the time. Sometimes the burgers and fries have been overcooked. Our favorites are prime rib Saturdays and any/all of their freshly made on-site desserts. We also love that they continue to make improvements and upgrades across their property. Looking forward to next year's stay already.

So my husband & myself along with our young son had been up in the area of Bonaparte Lake yesterday…read more& stopped in here to grab something to eat from the little snack shop they have attached to the restaurant. They didn't have anything that tickled my fancy but I could smell something Coming from the restaurant that made me decide to check out the menu. Of course my young son doesn't eat hardly anything, ( basically pizza or pizza sticks, so it's really difficult to get him to eat..welp anything really).. We ended up ordering their Greek salad & a side of home fries for my husband & myself to share & a kids chicken strip/fries for our son. We DO NOT like to go into restaurants really at all. Too many people, too much going on around us, judgemental people all the time etc etc, so like usual I ordered it to go. Then went back out to our truck to tell my husband & son how long til I could go back in & pick up the food. Our son told us that he wanted to go inside AND he wanted to sit down together INSIDE to eat & of course we did it for his sake. My husband will fight tooth & nail to avoid all public events & interactions usually but not this time. We go in & get sat down by a window overlooking the lake. There was a few folks there not much. Let me tell y'all from the moment we sat down, we felt comfortable, invited, not judged, not scrutinized, not any of the normal stressors that will normally get us to get out of any place as fast as possible! It was really refreshing! The manager guy was very very personable, very engaging but not overly so & the bartender guy was the same. We let our son color on a dollar bill & we all signed it & the manager, without even saying anything to him, brought us a stable gun that he quietly sat on the edge of our table so we could put the dollar up on their walls of bills when ready. The food was great - the fries where probably the best fries my husband & myself have had in a long time & our son ACTUALLY ATE HIS FOOD!!! Great job to the two guys working. Come check this place out, it's a good one with respectable folks running the show! Thanks for the great food & great memory with our son!

We had to pry information and couldn't even get pricing out of her... brutal! We tried ATB again the next day hoping to get someone else who could be of more assistance. We found there were more people there to 'help" but the original woman was there to. We asked the girl helping us if we could rent a Seadoo and the original woman barged in saying "no, they're all gone". Meanwhile, the girl helping us looked at the reservation board and there was one waiting in the harbour not being used at all. Reluctantly we said we'd take it for an hour. In filling out the form I asked the girl for the price... $75 + tax... expensive but fine. Then she said "oh ya, plus the cost of gas... minimum $20". So it was over $100 to rent the Seadoo for an hour... rip off (imho)!! Gave the clipboard back ripping up my form as I wasn't about to spend that kind of money with a company who was reluctant to give us the time of day. After that, we went over to 3 Phase Adventures and rented some SUP boards for an hour and a half (for the price of an hour btw). WAY cheaper and they were so helpful and friendly. SOOOO much fun , highly recComend this group of AWSOME guys to anyone! All the staff was equally as good natured, fun, and knowledgable. You can tell they love what they do and are good at it.
