We applied for our two children and were genuinely excited--on paper, it seems like a great school…read moreand it's within easy walking distance from our home. Unfortunately, we learned that the school does not allow students to be walked or biked to campus, even by parents. This means driving less than half a mile and sitting in a daily carpool line, which feels unnecessary and out of touch, especially given that there are sidewalks the entire route. The policy is explained as a "safety concern," but that reasoning doesn't hold much weight considering the neighborhood and infrastructure. It's disappointing that such a rigid rule would outweigh common-sense solutions. It's a shame they'll lose not only two strong prospective students, but likely others in our walkable neighborhood as well. Ultimately, this experience raised concerns about how inflexible the administration may be on a day-to-day basis, and we're relieved we discovered that before enrolling.

Let's start off with the red point green point system and how much they can contradict each other…read more My child got a red point for acting like a wild dog on the playground and his friends ran away from him "scared" then they ran back and one friend got too close and got hit on accident in the face. But my child was in "her" personal space. Let's rewind to months ago when my child and another child were on the play ground and this other child didn't want to play the game mine was, got angry, chased him down on the play ground and pushed him to the ground. My child got a warning, had he not been in the child personal space he wouldn't have been pushed to the ground. Back to present day I sent a firm email saying I felt it was ridiculous he gets a red point because the girl came back to his personal space. And it was a complete accident. I also stated when can children be children, mind you they are 5 years old getting punished for an accident. I said it's not a military boot camp. I was firm and to my grounds in the emails. Never cursed, never said inappropriate wording or anything but called for a meeting. We met the next day. Walking in it was a 4 on 2 conference. 2 of the teachers, 2 administrators, my husband and myself. Everyone introduced their self and i absolutely stayed on my guard with them, we were already outnumbered. Meeting starts out basically telling us this is how it is, this is how it's going to go and that's it. No one once said explain your reasonings with why we were frustrated or why we are confused with him getting a red point. We had to interrupt either the principal or assistant to get a word in. The principal Laurie Matthews at one point looks at my husband and said you, your pleasant to talk to and then looks at me and says your emails were absolutely disrespectful to Mrs Williams. At this point they are gas lighting us to lose our cool and I said perfect. I wasn't sure what was disrespectful in the emails nor did my husband. Fast forward the meeting is getting heated, Laurie Matthews gets up stands over my husband in "his personal space" being micro aggressive with her tone, i stood up and said this is absolutely not happening where someone's standing over us talking down to us inserting dominance. She claims she was just trying to reenact the situation. Well ma'am your not practicing what your preaching. The assistant principal Kristin Gyure attempts to de escalate the situation but in the same token gas lights me. Told me I need to simply talk to my son about it and move on, simple as that, Laurie telling us that since we are stricter about the red points and taking things away when he gets them then we need to loosen the reigns on our policies at home with his punishment if he gets red points. Again I haven't raised my voice, said anything aggressive, any bad words but at this time we still are trying to get them to see our side as well. I even expressed when they told me we needed to understand their side that it works both ways and for a situation to be resolved and not escalate both need to be willing to see each others side. I stated I think we need to leave this meeting for now. Kristin yet again interjects and tells us we're making a mole hill out of an ant hill. And she dosnt want it to get to where Carson is no longer there. I wasn't taking that as a threat they were going to kick him out because in an email I wrote I feel I'm being pushed to the point of taking him out. Again we said we should table this meeting, they said let's agree to disagree and I shook my head because I didn't agree with how that whole meeting played out. 1 we were never allowed the table to speak from the get go, 2 they were not practicing their own policies of being respectful and professional. I'm sorry but Laurie Mathew's stepped out of character at times and was disrespectful to me on occasions and 3 we were going in circles and getting no where. I finally stood up to leave they said something and I said I'm just going to take it up the chain. About 35 minutes of leaving that office Laurie Matthews calls my husband to tell him they are unenrolling my child because of my "disrespectful behavior" and they needed to protect their students and staff. I never yelled, cursed nor made any threatening remarks or passes. I was not allowed to pick my own child up, I couldn't come on campus. He asked what could he do to appeal, they have no appeals and you are not allowed to ever attend ever again. He told them I'm going through the stress and hormones of IVF and possibly a failed transfer and Kristin who we didn't know was on the line piped up and said it dosnt matter what your going through you still have to be professional and respectful. I guess she's never been pumped with an over abundance of hormones and lost a pregnancy. This school if you do not obey and agree with them will kick you out. Not even obeying their own standards or protocols of a written warning which we never got.

They did an exceptional job during the virtual learning stint last year when COVID-19 closed down the schools. Daily lessons were reasonable and interesting by using a combination of online materials and assignments that were done by students using materials at home and interest topics of their choice. No "drill and kill" assignments in the lot! Also, there was enough flexibility in the schedule that students could take an occasional break and have choices in which activity they did next on their workboard of assignments. Now that they are back in the building, safety and health are a high priority and activities are more project based and hands-on with materials of interest. I am very happy that he is attending ESA. He is learning and enjoying the time spent at school.

The gym had bleachers although the basketball team staff told us they wouldn't have any. So, there was plenty of seating available for families. The only issue I had was that there was no snack or drink machines there. I know all schools don't have them for their students, but a lot of them that I've been in do. It would've been nice being that they have i9sports games there & there are no concession stands. Parents get parched & hangry being there all day without a little something to wet our whistles & calm our growling stomachs, and we aren't allowed to bring in outside food/drinks.

Just like at any school, you won't love every single thing about anywhere but Endeavor gives its families very little to complain about. My only word of caution would be that if your child falls outside the range of "normal" or learning in a traditional way, Endeavor might not be the right fit as it does not have the resources to help those kids but I have seen them taking steps to try to improve in this area and hope in the future they'll be able to be more accommodating. Honestly though, our public school refused to do anything to help my daughter despite her having an obvious need so I have zero faith in any school to spend money/resources on the needs of one child. Overall, this really is the best school in Wake County.

As a teacher I asked a former NRCA teacher about it, and his words were "It is a good education, but they are not the place for black students." Despite this, we normally know how to navigate those spaces, and most teachers here are actually GREAT. However, they have a science teacher and a coach that has received several complaints for ostracizing students. It's one of the worst experiences I've ever had with an educator. I've never seen ANYTHING like it. We have spoken to administration. Other parents have spoken to administration. They head nod and continue to employ him, knowing he has actively chosen to kill the energy of the students he is called to serve. You don't have to believe me, ask about him. The responses will be the same. Parents agree but duck their heads to avoid rubbing him wrong as he takes it out on kids. I've been a teacher for 15 years and have recommended my sister remove him from this situation as I see how he has affected him. Families of players agree, but I'm okay speaking up, bc someone needs to know. Ronnie Kruger's actions are so egregious, and he alone has caused my nephew such pain, I can't believe a Christian School continues to let him behave this way and not require him to at minimum treat kids with respect and love.

My daughter attended a public school in Granville County prior to this, and before the public school, I was homeschooling her. Homeschooling was wonderful because I was able to focus on what she needed and do things at her pace. Public school didn't allow this. However, the staff at Magellan ensure that my child is learning what she should be learning, and they are careful to work with her if she needs extra help. I only lasted a year and it was for sure the worst year of my life. I developed an anxiety disorder because of this school. Bullying was terrible and one friend of mine texted me years later saying he was so happy I made it out and he made it out too. Absolutely positively not worth the money. Every Tuesday is Chapel (at least when I was there) so the morning is shot. There's prayer before every class. My Latin teacher there told the class the end was near and we better repent. The best thing about the entire place was the Snack Shack (which I don't think is there anymore). There wasn't even a cafeteria just a gym we all ate in separated by a curtain. It is important to note that the instruction or quality of education at this school is not in anyway superior to the of public school. There is just more quantity. So much more quantity. My friends and I all had 8 hours of homework on a regular basis. Maybe less time should be spent on religious stuff and more on in class work so homework isn't piled on. The kids at this school are dangerous. I was assulted. Don't believe that just because it's private there are not drugs. There are more drugs at this school. I ended up going to public middle school and Sanderson high school. I felt the quality of education was the same, and it was free. I did well in public school and I got accepted into UNC Chapel Hill, UNC Greensboro, UNC Pembroke, and WCU. I am doing so much better now. This school was so bad my friend and I say if we made it through this we can make it through anything. Let me reiterate, worst experience of my entire life. Please please please do not send your children here if you care about their happiness or wellbeing. This school will drain it out of them and replace it with religious nonsense. This place is destructive.
