We engaged the services of Mr. Schumski at a time we lived in NJ and owned rental property in FL…read more Mr. Schumski filed our tax returns in 2020 and 2021 each time with deductions for passive landlords. Eventually the IRS caught up with us and sent us notifications advising such a deduction was not permitted as we made too much money. Upon receipt of the first notice we contacted Mr. Schumski who gave us some very short description of how to respond to the IRS. Why? Are you not the accountant who should probably know best? We were left to our own devices. Mr. Schumski never assisted us and, then,. did not advise that we would need to file an amended return for 2021 since he did the same thing that year as well. Sure enough the IRS caught that one as well. When we moved out of state, the new accountant took one look at our returns and immediately knew what Mr. Schumski did incorrectly. He advised it should never have been done with people like us, making more than the allowable amount in order to claim the passive landlord deductions. Recently, at the adv ice of our new accountant, we wrote to Mr. Schumski outlining all of the issues and our complaints and requested a refund of the penalties and interest the IRS charged since it was his mistakes. At the end of June 2024, we wrote Mr. Schumski a detailed letter and asked for reimbursement. That letter was received by him on 7/1/24 and a follow up email was sent to him on 7/24/2024. To date, he has NOT responded to us.

Fabietti Hale Hammerstedt & Powers - $740.00 CHARGEBACK

Unethical Operation - Reportedly led by managers who engage in theft and financial misconduct…read more Joseph M. Brennan a senior manager and former founding partner CHARGED BACK a $740.00 credit card transaction whilst holding onto the product! (FHHP) Fabietti, Hale, Hammerstedt & Powers, I hope this message finds you well. My name is Brandon Murray, a business owner and finance manager in New Jersey. I am writing to seek your assistance in resolving a problematic transaction involving one of your firm's employees, Joseph M. Brennan, Sea Isle City NJ 08243. Mr. Brennan contacted me via Facebook Marketplace to purchase a stand-up paddleboard. Lacking a profile photo on his Facebook account and challenges with his computer literacy, communication was somewhat difficult. Nevertheless, he eventually confirmed the purchase of an 11' Tahe Beach Cross rigid stand-up paddleboard, which included free shipping, an adjustable paddle, a 10" center fin, and a coiled safety leash, all for a total price of $740.00. This package was delivered to Mr. Brennan's residence, and his wife accepted the delivery on Friday, September 20th. A few days after receiving the board, Mr. Brennan expressed dissatisfaction, stating that he was expecting a different board. Considering the board was special ordered from Wareham, Massachusetts, and involved a freight cost of $300, I informed Mr. Brennan that unfortunately the item could not be returned. In addition, Facebook Marketplace sales are Final. Mr. Brennan had surfed the manufacturer's website extensively and made an informed decision regarding the board he ordered and received. However, to my surprise, I recently received a $740.00 chargeback on this transaction, despite the board being delivered and in Mr. Brennan's possession. In my 15 years of business, this is the first time I have encountered a Credit Card Chargeback after dealings with Thousands of Customers across every US state. I would like to make it clear that I intend to pursue legal action against Mr. Brennan for retaining the product without payment, and I will not accept a return of the 11ft board under these circumstances. I kindly ask for your assistance in helping Mr. Brennan take responsibility for this situation, settling the $740.00 chargeback claim and resolving this as soon as possible. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you require any proof of communication or documentation, including photos of the transaction and records from Facebook Marketplace. Mr. Brennan retains the board while charging back the full $740.00. 1. Is it typical for FHHP managers to engage in such misconduct outside of the workplace? 2. As a CPA firm, would you pursue legal action for the damages incurred, including those related to time loss and other associated monetary factors?
