Porta potty hidden behind the corn stalks!

Took the kids to the pumpkin patch and corn maze today after school. They charge a hefty price to get in and wander around the grounds. The corn maze was good and we picked several ears of corn, only to be told at checkout that it is not for human consumption, but to be dried out and used for decoration. That is fine, but when we got home and opened the husks up they were half eaten away by happy, fat, hungry worms that were busy munching away the corn kernels. Yuk! There were a variety of peppers to pick and nothing left to pick from the dried out zucchini patch. There were some small green tomatoes, not ripe yet to be picked. The kids liked feeding the alpaca, goats, and cow. They could pet them throw the fence. Then there is the pumpkin patch. They all have been harvested and put in groupings to chose the perfect one. We will wait until closer to Halloween to carve, so they will not rot. The prices were reasonable up to $20 for their largest, which was not that big. We got some of their pumpkin butter and apricot preserves to enjoy later in. It was a good family time. Warning! Do not buy any corn!

There is one beloved crop that has us New Mexicans twitching for a fix, waiting on tip toe for announcement of it's arrival, and singing from the rooftops the moment it hits the streets...yes, we are very zealous about said crop, and this is most certainly one of the most magical times of year in the Land of Enchantment ... an intoxicating aroma fills the streets as we wait in lines for our green chile to be roasted to perfection. We welcome the burning sensation in our fingertips as we peel and chop and dice our little hearts out to package ever so neatly our newly acquired high grade stash. From Hatch to Chimayo, and everywhere in between, one can purchase fresh chile by the pound, the bushel, or the sack. My favorite place to score the goods is Wagner Farms. The drive through Corrales is always so charming. The staff at Wagners are warm and friendly...Bring cash, no credit cards accepted, although there is an atm machine in the back corner of the store, and save a few bucks to tip the chile roasters, they work their tails off cranking out batch after batch of chile, usually 6 roasters going at once in 85-95 degree weather and the heat of those roasters is brutal. Plenty of other fresh produce to purchase (melons, apples, squash, etc etc), ristras, and more!

The smell of green chiles roasting is unlike anything else, and it's how you know that it's finally fall in New Mexico! Wagner Farms is our answer to all things fall, and that means a bushel of roasted green chiles to freeze for winter as well as delicious apples to use for pies, cobblers, and cider. Their fall festival is great with music and kids games, a pumpkin patch, and of course lots of chiles. Not to be missed in Corrales!

Bought green Chile here. Everyone was very kind and helpful and roasted our two bushels perfectly.

More chile ristras inside the market.

Probably the best chili in North America. And they roast it well. They have four levels of heat: mild, medium, hot, and extra hot.

The green Chile chicken enchilada plate was excellent. The family enjoyed the Carmel apples and ice cream.

The corn and green chili in the fall are a must but they also have various other veggies and fruit.

There were perhaps…read more30-40 vendors at a market, most of them produces, food, edible items, with less non-edible items. My friend really liked the the ambiance around the market. It's not too big and parking is relatively easy to find when we stopped by around 8-9am on a Saturday (we parked near the railyard station and there were plenty of (paid) street parking. But by the time we were back from the market, all the spots were filled up already). My friend got paintings from a vendor at Santa Fe Plaza the day prior to our visit to the railyard...and the next day ran into the same vendor again at Railyard market...so he bought more paintings from them and we had a good chat with them about their paintings! Overall, a great place to stop by. I don't suppose I would come here to shop for my groceries to get everything there at this market...but it's a good place to get a nice feel of Santa Fe, take visitors to see another side of Santa Fe, and take photos perhaps with the Santa Fe Market tall structure with Santa Fe Railyard name on it and with roadrunner train cabins nearby the station for sure.

Located in a charming neighborhood where some residents have livestock and grapevines in their yards! Plentiful parking in the lot or on the street made coming here extremely helpful. IYKYK how I am about parking lol! I found the vendors and people shopping here extremely friendly. I purchased locally grown apples (that are crisp & tart, yet sweet!), eggplant, carrots, treats for my doggo, Pueblo bread, more bread and savory selections from a delightful French pastry chef, some trinkets, jams, honey, a gorgeous wreath, a breakfast quiche, and more!!! Yes, I boosted the economy in Los Ranchos! You have the opportunity to visit for the next two Saturdays till 11.9.24 before the regular season closes! Also please support these wonderful vendors at their Winter market on 12.14.24 to do some holiday shopping. Other winter market dates are in 1.11, 2.8, 3.8 & 4.12.2025. The official new season will start on 5.3.2025. I will probably be back next week to support!

However, it was a good place in a neighborhood to stop by if you want to support small, local business. I was able to finish walking through the tents (within 15 minutes). Glad to stop by the market, but probably won't be able to get most of my weekly shopping done at this one though.
