I had a recommendation to use Tina through next door. I interviewed her and she seems great with…read morepets. She is $35 per half hour visit, and $200 per day for overnights. She has a surcharge of $20 per visit for holidays and the days around the holidays (sometimes the weeks), which I found a bit high and since I usually go on vacation around holidays (I'm a teacher), I would have to avoid a fair amount of possible vacation dates to be able to afford her fees. Also, she lives too far from us, so our only option for vacations would be to pay the $200 fee for overnights and I was not clear if she'd be with the dogs during the day because she said she's usually gone around 11 am into the the later evening. Tina knows everyone in the pet community and we had a rewarding time trading information about vets, chiropractors for dogs, etc. I feel like she'd be a great fit for us if her fees were lower, or if she lived closer to us.

Throughout the initial interview process, it was clear to us that Tina is a professional, clearly loves what she does, and has tremendous training/experience. Tina was able to quickly bond with our dog and alleviated any concerns we had from the get-go. She is thorough and organized, took notes for the future, and helped us to feel that our dog would be in great hands. The notes that she left for us during her visits were very detailed and showed great care and compassion for our dog. She played outside with him even in the cold weather, sat with him while he ate, and left a nice toy for him too. We feel that she went above and beyond what we would have expected and will hire her again without hesitation.

My dog did lack the play with fellow dogs as he does in the dog park, but I did pay for the additional doggy play times during the days. It would help if they had webcams to be able to view the dogs and the cats in the facility! The cost is reasonable, the only thing I wish they had were webcams to view the pets 24/7, even if they're kept individually in their cages.

Even though my dog was near death, (Patel told me) he kept the dog alive knowing this. For two hours he had my dog on a respirator, gave him drugs and other things until he called me with an update. I told the doc to let him go. Why did you let him suffer these past two hours? I ended up with a bill around $800. I think it was money motivated. Maybe they're better now. This was shortly after they opened. What a HORRIBLE experience! After this I checked where Patel worked before. They had similar reviews re: money and service which the pet did not need.

The fish tanks are so clouded it's sick, even the freshwater tanks. There were dead fish floating everywhere. I visited PAWS Humane Society in Rockford with my daughter because we were genuinely interested in adopting a cat. Instead of feeling welcomed, we were met with an incredibly cold and unfriendly attitude. We were not allowed to touch or meaningfully interact with any of the cats, which makes it nearly impossible to determine whether an animal is a good fit for a family. The staff member we dealt with was rude, confrontational, and seemed more interested in pushing people away than helping animals find homes. While we were there, I also witnessed another potential adopter being turned away. The overall environment felt unwelcoming and discouraging. I completely understand the need for rules and procedures to protect the animals, but there is a huge difference between enforcing policies and treating potential adopters with respect. I was met with downright disdain and disrespect by two elderly women "in charge"... Families looking to provide loving homes should not leave feeling unwelcome and frustrated. I walked in hoping to adopt a cat and left wondering how many good adopters have been turned away because of the way people are treated here. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this organization.
