Waffle House is our spot for Sunday breakfast and depending what our day entails, we may end up at Sanford, Lillington, Spring Lake on lillington Hwy-210, or Ramsey Street. This morning we stopped at the Spring Lake on 210 location. When we walked in, we did not receive the warm welcome we are accustomed to receiving from the folks at WH, so we said, "Good morning!" and we were either ignored or they couldn't hear us because the music was incredibly loud. We had to approach the counter and ask if they wanted us to seat ourselves, and were answered with "yes". Still, no real issue until our server came to take our order. She couldn't hear us and we couldn't hear her, we had to raise our voices and repeat our order twice. After our server left, we tried to have a conversation with each other but the music was deafening so we asked if it could be turned down a little. Our server asked the manager and was told by the manager, "There is no way to turn the music down." At that point, we decided to leave rather than be subjected to one more moment of customer disregard. I stopped into the waffle house this morning, and ordered a chicken melt bowl add mushrooms, and tomatoes. I also, ordered a side bowl of grits with 2 slices of american cheese to go, My order total came to $17.34. As I was waiting for my food, there was a mother size roach crawling on the counter coming towards me. I politely asked for a refund as I pointed at the roach. The worker then grabbed a piece of tissue, killed the roach on the counter and kept going as if this is the norm. Do not eat here unless you are fine with eating with critters. There was a military man sitting directly beside me, he watched the roach crawl and turned his head the other way. I'm not one to write very many reviews even after a bad experience, but I am appalled at the way that my family was treated today. I am a family of 7 and whilst I understand in some establishments it may be harder to accommodate such a party I will not tolerate blatant disrespect. I walk in to let the host (who happened to be the manager on shift) know our party size. She told us to wait 20 minutes, that she was going to wipe down two tables (as she points them out) and have us seated. I wait a little over ten minutes and walk inside to get a status update. When I walk in I notice that our tables had been given away. Whilst upset I try to work something out with the manager in terms of my older children sitting at the bar and my younger children sit with us in a booth. She laughs and states that that's not going to work due to the number of people allowed at a booth. I was so taken back by the disrespectful scoffs that I had received I had informed her to take our name off the list and that we would find another establishment to eat. Once again she scoffs and makes a disrespectful gesture and says "ok, have a good day" in a sarcastic tone. While I understand Waffle House is not an upscale establishment the manager should not be displaying such poor customer service qualities in any restaurant. My first time at a Waffle House the food was delicious however the location was not clean at all I sat down and there were plates still on the table and when I asked the hostess she said they'd remove the plates . When they finally did come to remove the plates they didn't bother to wipe the table before running my napkin across the table and setting my utensils on the wet napkin. My family and I were super hungry for Waffle House, so we had to get there. We arrive and the parking lot is super clean, and we also felt invited to park there. So we walk in at 9pm, we get greeted right away. "Welcome to Waffle House! Ya'll dining in or taking out?" We said we were eating there. The server told us to sit anywhere with excitement. The service we received was topnotch. Drinks were given right away. I requested that the Chef make me whatever he wanted from his heart. He asked if I ate everything, and I of course said, "Yep, I'm a food disposal. I like big portions." Very few people can make me full. He cooked me an omelette with everything inside, even HASHBROWNS(crazy I never thought of doing this to my homemade food), grits with cheese and sausage, two pieces of toast. Their personalities were so infectious that it made us stay longer. They made us feel like family members. This WaffleHouse should be the standard of all WaffleHouses nationwide. I didn't even mention how clean it was on the inside of the restaurant. The bathrooms were clean as well! So keep up the hard work. I eat here almost everyday, and I love the food. However, I mostly place to go orders between 8-11:00pm or 5-9am and 90% of the time I call no one answers the phone. I assume they are busy so I drive down, the place is completely empty most of the time. So I wonder why no one is answering the phone. I'm a loyal customer and live close by so it's convenient. But it's difficult to continue to order here when I have to wait for 20 minutes in person everyday. The ability to call and order allows me to continue my work and come when the food is ready. If this doesn't change, I will have to find a new locations or franchise to eat daily. One last thing, servers constantly forget to include butter with my orders.
