Personnel at the bank said that there was nothing they could do. The Estate Specialist said the bank could have handled everything. What a nightmare. Now going back to a WF Bank in Reno this afternoon. Customers dealing with recent loss should not have to be victims of WF employee's ineptness.

I called about an external transfer and was told that I could not check the status online without a cell phone. The transfer never went through and caused a real problem. Just went to make a transfer and cannot do it without a cell phone for verification. Hate to say this but not everyone uses a cell phone. Some of us don't walk around thumbing the thing. Does the customer have any say? They don't care what you want. You must do it their way. But I do have a choice I can go somewhere else.

They've also played a pivotal part in helping us fix our credit. They've always been there when we needed something. I could sing their praises all day. If you can't get a product or service here, it's because your credit or payment history situation simply won't allow it. They have rules to follow like any other financial institution. They're not above laws, rules, or basic considerations and practices that keep their business healthy just because they're local.

I discovered them online and while I'm not active duty, my father served for 28 years which makes my mother and I eligible for membership. Rinnie B. (one of the managers) at this branch is truly outstanding. She not only answered several questions about my checking account, but got me approved for a credit card (with a much larger limit) and half the interest I was paying with another bank that promises to be "of America" in its name. Not only did she do this, but helped my mom move her accounts over, and even refinanced her new car at less than half the rate of a bank with a stagecoach in its logo... The only complaint is that if you make a deposit at a non-Navy Fed ATM, there's a 5 day hold on the deposit. Given that most ATM's are ones which do not require envelopes, I would think that the deposit could be verified instantly. Other than that, Navy Federal is an excellent financial partner.

How does a bank that works with military not exchange foreign currency?!? "We don't have access to exchange rates and just don't deal with any of that." That's like one of the 5 basic services you might need from a physical bank. I can maybe understand not stocking foreign cash, but at least having the basic functionality to quote a fair rate and exchange dollars at a minimum. They actually recommended I try Wells Fargo out in town, lol. Additionally, I attempted to finance a home through NFCU and dealt with so much incompetence from the loan officer I pulled the plug and started over with USAA and had a much better experience.
