Estimated over 500 years old this River Red Gum is the oldest in the area. The tree is a Eucalyptus Carnaldulensis but it also has the name Widow Maker because these kind of trees have the habit of unexpectedly throwing off big branches. The tree is about 34 feet circumference and climbs up about 20 feet before there is a fork in the trunk. The area invites to stay a little, there is parking, tables and a BBQ grill that is free. Along the river are some nice walks. You can also leave your glass or other bottles there and they get the deposit and donate that money to a local child charity. The town of Orrorroo is also worth a look and just a mile away.

The hotel was lovely and in an old building (which I love) and well maintained. We opted for the budget accom which included shared bathroom and toilets, which was no problems at all. It had everything we needed and was clean. There was a nice dog hanging around, who was friendly and quiet. Not too sure if he belonged to anyone or the hotel. In all, I would stay again if I can back to the area. Thanks
