Unprofessional Custody Representation - Complete NegligenceRetained Wade Litigation (specifically William H. Stewart) for my child custody case and paid a retainer upfront. It was a complete disaster. Over an entire month, I received a total of only 32 minutes of interaction with zero meaningful legal strategy, guidance, or feedback.The firm completely failed to monitor my case file and neglected to inform me that a mandatory court request for a remote appearance had been officially denied. This total failure of communication forced me to scramble to court in person at the absolute last minute. To make matters worse, the attorney showed up late to the mandatory court hearing (arriving at 1:35 PM) and inappropriately instructed me, the client, to handle his professional responsibilities by explaining his tardiness to the court officer.Following a continuance, the attorney directed me to schedule a family therapy appointment but completely forgot to coordinate or notify opposing counsel. I sat waiting at the appointment for an hour, only for the attorney to text me admitting he "forgot" to contact the other party. I have explicit written text messages from the attorney apologizing for these exact "mistakes" and "oversights."They took thousands of dollars from me and completely abandoned my child custody case when I needed competent representation the most. When I demanded a refund, the firm retaliated by trying to manufacture an unsubstantiated "outstanding balance" of over $11,000 to threaten and intimidate me into dropping my disputes. I have filed formal fraud and misconduct disputes with my financing company, my bank, and am escalating this directly to the State Bar of California. Don't be fooled by the many name changes of this "law firm". They scammed me 3 yrs ago for over 12k and they never did anything but file for continuances for my divorce (against my wishes). It's a very shady operation. I went through the Los Gatos office but ended up dealing with different attorney's throughout the state (never personally) and was billed for many unjustified legal and paralegal charges. It's a complete sham/scam. They'll try to keep you on the hook for retainer fees with no legitimate services provided. If I could give negative stars, I would. Wade Litigation assured us from the very beginning that this was a straightforward case they could resolve quickly. Ten months later, after draining us for tens of thousands of dollars, they have nothing to show for it. No resolution, no settlement, no trial - just bloated invoices padded with duplicate billing, attorney-rate charges for clerical work, and block-billed entries that hide what was really done. In September alone, they demanded nearly $40,000 across two back-to-back invoices, on top of thousands more in mediation "fees" and retainers. When I explicitly asked for a trust ledger to reconcile deposits, withdrawals, and balances, they didn't provide it -- they resent their invoices as if that were the same thing. That's not transparency; that's stonewalling. To make matters worse, our own attorney couldn't even pronounce our names correctly during mediation, despite months of corrections from both my husband and me. The firm also came to mediation unprepared, forcing delays while we all waited on incompetent paralegals to do work they had already billed us for. That's not advocacy, that's negligence. This firm promised quick results and delivered nothing but threats: pay another $20,993 or we'll drop you. Wade Litigation doesn't fight for clients - they bleed them dry.
