Almost eight years here and my air is out for the second time. The foundation that I complained about plus we had someone to come and check it out but they didn't care what the report said, and cheap bathrooms they put in I had to replace the cheap XXX tub with a West Shore walk in shower, the cheap carpet, the small garage where I can't fit either one of our vehicles in. We purchased our home in December 2019. In the last 2 months we have had to replace the electrical board in garage as it kept blowing fuses Had wired it wrong $6,000 . This weekend the heat did not work. It had run out of freon and needed a part $2,000. We have had to replace the dishwasher and the stove as they were not working right. When we had a repair man in to look at at he told us that they were used apppliances. Another $2,500. Tops of counters are not straight and it shows now that we put granite counter tops. *Read the entire thing* My experience was in Palm Bay, FL. Their communication is nearly non-existent. They will offer their own home inspector, but DO NOT use them. Here's why: - their roofs needs to be completely removed and rebuilt. Shingles weren't placed correctly, bailed correctly, flashing was missing, huge swaths of shingles were shifted and coming off the roof because they weren't nailed. Also, they had huge gaps in shingles. - the electrical is dangerous and will cause a fire. Ground faults don't trip, breakers that are supposed to trip at the box when testing DO NOT trip, exterior outlets DO NOT trip. This will eventually cause a fire from a number of issues. -outlets were wired incorrectly -light fixtures were wired incorrectly -kitchen counters weren't even on the floor. They had mounted them up about .5 inch above the floor. There's no need for it, and it makes no sense. - there are gaps in the walls from the exterior going to the interior. You can place a file through these spots and see it inside the house. Some spots they filled with spray foam caulking. Other spots they did nothing. -they used warped base floor under carpeting and linoleum. -foundation was cracked and they tried to repair it without success. Here's the thing, due to these issues, I released myself from the contract. I was supposed to get my deposit back, as was legally stated in the contract. Yet, they've refused. They won't do it. Calvin Ray, Kristi Quick, and Wade Jurney homes should be avoided at all costs. They use cheap, unskilled labor, and it shows. Their homes are not safe to occupy. Side note: I drove around to their other properties for sale and the homes had the same exact issues. I'm currently in talks with the City of Palm Bay's inspection office about Wade Jurney and Palm Bay's inspector completely dropping the ball on these home inspections. Short story short, the city inspectors aren't inspecting anything. The issues are so obvious, a child could see the issues - especially with the roof. Avoid Wade Jurney homes because if you buy a home from them, you will be throwing your money away. Go to the Better Business Bureau or read other reviews. They don't lie. There's a systemic issue with the company to do things as cheaply and poorly as possible. I've been told that these homes wouldn't even survive a Cat 1 hurricane bc of the terrible build quality, and with my own eyes seeing it, I believe this to be so. read more

Upon disclosing this, they did not have a definite date or remedy. My client was on a timeline so we had to seek other properties. Do you know these people did not want to give my client back her earnest money?? I had to contact the Regional manager and she NEVER called me back, just had someone from their office call my client and let her know her earnest money would be returned to her. First of all, I did not purchase one of their homes, nor did I attempt to do so. However, I finance homebuilders, and am financing a builder who is building on lots within the same subdivision where Wade Jurney homes are building currently. In the course of my business, I must inspect the process of building before I release funds to the builder, so I am knowledgeable regarding how to build properly. In the process of inspecting the homes my builder has been building, I have also been looking at Wade Jurney's construction as they have built at the same time. A couple of comments to anyone looking to buy one of these homes: 1. Never buy a house on the internet. What are you, stupid? 2. Never buy a new home from a production builder who does not have a real life model to look at. 3. This builder's floor plans leave a lot to be desired. Again, I deal with multiple builders who build inexpensive houses for first time buyers. Some have better design than others. These guys are about the worst I have seen, ever. 4. Less-than-functional space - spaces for living are really small, lack function, and some essentials seem to be lacking or missing. 5. The framing is piss-poor. My framer walked through with me and laughed. He said, "I feel for the poor suckers who buy these POS homes". 6. What you save in paying for a cheap house, you lose in other ways. Their wiring looks like they forgot a bunch of essentials, and you would have to wire low voltage after the fact [costing you $$$]. Upon resale, these homes will not appreciate in value because the deterioration of their materials will turn these homes into crap over time. My parents purchased a house from Wade Jurney Homes and had nothing but problems. There were leaks, uneven floors, the walls had cracks after 2 months, simply poor quality everywhere. Filling out a warranty claim is a joke, they never showed up or called 3 times and when someone did come out they only fixed part of the problem. The customer service is TERRIBLE, it seems like nobody at the company has a clue or does not care about anything except getting the contract signed so they get paid. I have had 2 homes built and both had issues but nothing compared to the constant problems with Wade Jurney Homes. The worst part is they simply don't care, the staff is some of the worst I have ever met, rude and a complete lack of follow-through. I purchased a home from WJH LLC in November 2018. This home is serviced by a well that we cannot drink from. After the closing the county took a sample of the water and determined that the manganese levels are more than four times the allowable limit. I have reported this and so far they have not addressed it. I have other maintenance issues that they have failed to address. One is a window there is a piece of string in the frame that does not stay tight and the master bath floor vinyl is not tacked down. Finally the workers left trash everywhere. When the shrubs and pine straw were installed they didn't bother removing the trash they just put the pine straw right on top of it. THIS COMPANY HAS SUB-PAR CUSTOMER SERVICE. How do you turn a first time homebuyer's dream into a nightmare? Well, I lived through it, and I am here to prevent you from having to do the same. I'm going to try to make this short and sweet without getting into too many details because I will be here forever composing this review. Here's the rundown and why I recommend that you run away from this company as fast as you can to maintain your sanity: I signed a purchase agreement in November of 2017. Was suppose to close on February 28th 2018. Construction of the home didn't began until the first week of March. Closing date was moved to April 9th, then April 19th, then April 30th, then May 4th, then back to April 30th, then to April 27th, back to April 30th, and then finally to May 1st. I have every last email and addendum to prove this is the case and if I could attach screenshots and other attachments, I would. Let's move pass the closing date debacle and into the so-called "bang for your buck." Wade Jurney has increased The price of their homes while taking many shortcuts and taking away many features that your future neighbors, or perhaps you know someone already with a Wade Jurney Home (Scam), may already have. Things like no ceiling fans in any rooms, no concrete foundation for your AC, instead a plastic foundation, no garbage disposal, and only one set of gutters. As a reminder, the home already comes with no refrigerator, lower-end fixtures, trimmings, and appliances, no garage door opener, or glass shower door for the stand-in shower that comes with some models. "We can't wait until May 1st to close so the lender can give you a July 1st payment. We have to close on April 30th to meet our April sales expectations." This was an actual comment by their area sales consultant manager. After they moved the closing multiple times, they appeared to be more focused on a sales quota than they were me, a buyer, a human being. It was at this very moment I started to really see their true colors. Nonetheless, because of a lender error, they were forced into a May 1st closing date, which is literally one day after April 30th. Even after all this, I was in it to win it. I wanted to be a first time homeowner and surprise the love of my life with a home that we could upgrade together. We find ourselves at the closing table and 10 minutes until the final piece of paper was signed, we find out that Wade Jurney, unlike most builders, didn't contract a cable or phone company to have the homes wired and ready for internet, cable, or a landline phone. It was going to cost me more to have that done myself than the downpayment for the home. In the 21st century, this should be a requirement for all builders. This was specifically important as I work from home and depend on these 21st century services. After taking off from work, traveling and hour to get to the closing table, and waiting 6 months for this day, we don't close. At first I blamed my internet service provider. I realized how foolish I was in doing so. It had nothing to do with them. It wasn't their neighborhood they were building. This was a Wade Jurney's neighborhood and they were responsible for alerting the internet service provider(s) and brokering deals to have them wire the area. They dropped the ball. It was all their fault. If there is anyone reading this interested in their Pinehaven subdivision in Laurens, SC, PLEASE be aware of what you are getting into. We have now been in our Wade Journey built home for three and a half years. From day one we were rushed. The very first walk through went alright. final inspection was scheduled for an an hour and a half before closing. We were give 15 minutes to walk through. Nothing was fixed we had called out in the initial walk through. seems like every year we find something that was not done correctly. flooring had been trying to peel up since right at a year of being here. Walls and ceilings cracking. Just had a roofer come out to tell the that the flashing was installed wrong. They used silicon around the vents. With hot summers and cold winters the silicon has started peeling leading to a roof leak. From our experience with this company and digging deeper as the problems arises. We have found that they work with the closing company to basically short change you in time so they can rush and deliver sub par quality homes. Not sure where to begin. WJ purchased a big tract of land that hooked up with our small neighborhood in Asheboro, Windcrest Acres. After their real estate agent bugged me to death to talk my 2 neighbors into signing a revision to our bi-laws, the 3 of us signed off and they began to build an entire neighborhood. Within a 3 month period, around 15 houses were complete and sold and our new neighbors began to move in. (Moving began around beginning of this past July). I had serious doubts and wondered how the sewer lines actually passed as my back door neighbors live up a very steep hill and the actual lines were covered with less than 6" of dirt. In comes hurricane Florence and the next storm. ....then all the rain afterwards....to make a long story short, we have had a kid slide with each storm/rain event. Close to a foot of mud is pushing up against my fence, threatening to collapse and my out building is being pushed forward because of the weight. My neighbor has the same problem. My immediate back door neighbors back yard is eroding and sinking. The rate it is going, if nothing is done, his house will sink in next 2 years. I called the inspector at the city of Asheboro and he got in contact with WJ. Around 3 weeks later, a guy showed up at my house and inspected the problem. He promised me it would be fixed quickly. Now it has been around 8 weeks and I have not heard another word. 1/2 my back yard grass is buried under mud along with the other problems. To say the least, I am not impressed. I'm sure you've heard "you get what you pay for"? Well, with Wade Jurney, that is 100% true. Everything everyone has said here about the "quality" is correct. Unless you're interested in purchasing a new home you have to do repairs on yourself. Maybe you like seeing all the wall and floor joists through your drywall. You can also easily locate most of the drywall screws when the start popping out. Don't think that one year warranty will save you, that's not covered. Kitchen counter pulling away from the wall? That's your fault. Bathroom floor ends just before the wall? Oops. Oh, did you need to wipe some dirt off the wall? Get ready to need to repaint that spot, WJH uses the cheapest paint ever. Oh, the touch up paint? Went rancid within 6 months. Went to Sherwin William's to get the exact match, guess what, it doesn't. Makes me believe they thinned the paint. Cheapest appliances, only place you can add ceiling fans without needing to add bracing is the master bedroom and living room. Poured the concrete pad for my central air unit at the wrong spot, now I have a useless pad and my AC sits on a plastic pad that is leaning. Garbage everywhere. Watch out for all the nails the lazy builders threw all over the yard! Let's see, oh yes, my biggest complaint. I was so excited to have a huge back yard. They set you up with a super small sod yard out front, and then put seed and mesh down on the side and back yards. You can do everything right to get it to grow, but dang, it just doesn't grow. Then you'll call a professional landscaper, and he'll come out and tell you they just used fill sand. Nothing good grows in super hard fill sand, which turns into a swamp in the rain. You can contact WJH, but they'll pass the buck and tell you it's not their fault or problem anymore. Even though they're the ones who used improper fill for a yard. Honestly, please don't waste your money. Pay a little more, and get something that won't cause you anxiety and headaches. These homes are the lowest cost for a reason. We closed on our first home a month ago in Burlington N.C. and the experience was not one that I will brag about. We have nothing to compare it to since this is our first purchase however we know good customer service and this was the total opposite.. It was impossible to get in contact with the sales team and t he closing team when needed. There was a serious lack in communication with our realtor and Wade Jurney. The quality of the home is what to be expected for the price however I am extremely disappointed in the yard and how they left things. The day we closed we had no sod laid since the rain has been so bad. The contract from the builder said that it would be laid after which was fine. Once the guys showed up with it the left every rock, stick, cigarette pack, water bottle, trash bag, and who know what else in the yard (left from the construction team)!!!! They put the sod right on top of all of it. Not only did it look lumpy, it also is extremely dead and full of patchy weeds (annual bluegrass). I wanted to change the pine straw out and lay mulch out in the flower bed since the yard looks so bad to try to help it out and I found even more trash under that. I spoke with the builder about our concerns and he was unbothered about it and did nothing about it. I have asked on 3 different occasions about touch up paint in which we were promised the day we moved I, now a month later and still no touch up paint. This company stated they keep cost down because of buying in bulk but I think they just use cheap stuff and need to train there staff a little better. I have started making our house feel like home but this yard is embarrassing, and I am ashamed call it my yard. Who knows how much we will have to pay just to get it looking decent. Well, I've seen and heard so many terrible ratings and testimonials about WJ. I'm sure most of them are justified if that many people are complaining. However, I bought a house for $120,000 in a WJ development and lived there for 6 years. It was just an absolutely wonderful house in every way. Very basic finishes, but nice enough as they were for me but easily upgradable later. Just a couple of issues when I first moved in which they kindly and quickly addressed. I got countless compliments on the house and people were in disbelief of how little I paid for it. I watched it get built from the frame to the end. Quality in every way. I recently sold the house in still like new shape for $185,000 and the new owners love it just as much. It's just a nice clean solid well built energy efficient affordable house that they build. I think people sometimes want more than what they pay for. I feel like I got more than what I paid for. A new more expensive builder came in and completed the final phase of our neighborhood and I have heard countless complaints about those houses as well. So people are going to complain regardless. Anyway, I would buy another WJ home in a heartbeat. He's got a great concept of what people are looking for...an affordable solid clean no frills house for starters or any demographic. read more

One home I had under contract had a completion date of May, buyer didn't close until the end of October that year. Information in our MLS is NEVER accurate, houses left active that are under contract and vice versa. PLEASE REACH OUT TO THE ATTORNEY GENERAL ON THIS COMPANY FOR ANY COMPLAINTS. THEY ARE UNDER INVESTIGATION The issue at hand was not addressed. The drive way was not properly built and is not safe for me or anyone that comes to the property. Also the driveway is not handicap accessible. Wade Jurney has tried to bully me into signing an addendum stating that I am responsible for the driveway if anything was to happen and it would not be included in the one year warranty. Before the Attorney General reached out to Wade Jurney, there was an illegitimate termination letter that was drafted with false accusations, which stated I harassed and made frivolous claims to the Better Business Bureau and also stated I delayed closing because of my dislike of the driveway, which is not true. I have several emails from me as well as my realtor stating to all parties that I was ready to close but was not interested in signing any additional documents that were not included in the original contract. Also in the termination letter, Wade Jurney stated that the contract was terminated immediately and all monies were refunded, which I have yet to receive. Wade Jurney has also breached contract by refusing to close on the property. Their original reasoning for not rectifying the driveway or fixing the issue was because Wade Jurney stated they were told by the city as well as the concrete reps that if modifications were made it would not pass code. When asking them who these individuals were, they stated they had no main contact and to do the research myself and call the city. After reaching out to the city code inspector Joe Bieker he informed me that this was not true and that there were modifications that could be made and still pass code. The code only states that the driveway needs to be a certain amount of feet away from the curb. His recommendation was that "the builders can lower the first 11 feet and make changes behind the right away on the property side" He also stated that he was willing to work with the builders to help them. When I provided this information to Wade Jurney, their response was that "this was a personal opinion and it has nothing to do with them". Bank of America gives all parties 7 days to close, but because they did not receive the title from the seller, the loan was withdrew for that property. After doing more research upon the builders, there are several complaints online where Wade Jurney has bullied many buyers and not made repairs that they have promised to do. Furthermore, me and my two children are homeless and has yet found a place to live. When reaching out to Wade Jurney to bargain with them about closing as is, they refused to speak to me or my realtor, stating that they only wanted to talk to my attorney which I did not have at the time. This has been a horrific experience for me as a first time home owner and I am asking for justice, so they will treat all customers and potential customers fairly. read more

I have had the misfortune to own a Wade Jurney home for 2 years. My suggestion to anyone who see Wade Jurney anywhere in their documents please believe the phrase "caveat emptor" which means buyer beware. It is part of every American bill printed. I say that because we purchased this before it was finished and like most of the reviews you will read they had to push us out time after time. When it comes to the actual construction the material used in every sense was the minimum quality available. I have been in construction for the better part of 40 years the bulk of that in flooring and I can say without a doubt the carpet and vinyl were base grade and the installation was down by blind monkeys. My wife and I decided to replace the carpet on the main floor and the entryway with LVP. Easier to maintain and water proof. While pulling out the carpet I noticed just how bad the seams were and actually pulled out one of the carpet bars that were not even nailed down. On the the ground floor the concrete was beyond belief. I am not sure which was worse the the undulations in the floor of the outright poor quality of the concrete poured. A better example of the poor construction was when I pulled the kitchen floor out I discovered that the subfloor was rotten at the back door. No we have not even moved in yet. I met with the superintendent and the warranty representative and they both agreed that the subfloor should be replaced. After about 5-6 weeks and daily calls I was told that if I wanted it done quickly and correctly I should do it myself. As you can imagine that only made me want to make them to repair the problem. Two week later(after 5 weeks of calling) the monkeys showed up and proceeded to completely screw up the replacement of the subfloor. In the interest of brevity, suffice it to say I tore out everything they did and replaced it correctly, paying for it myself. I do not have enough space to tell you how bad Wade Jurney is short of writing a novel. Believe the negative comments you read they are all true. My only positive here is that they seem to be as inept at pricing as they do at building. If they had spent another $5,000 here they could have gotten another $40,000+. Thanks for being stupid Wade Jurney. I figure if you buy a product from them, do not expect that the be your forever home and add 10+% to the asking price to bring the home up to livable. read more

Unlike the previous review we closed on our home in the Charlotte area as scheduled. Everyone that we spoke with throughout the process was more than willingly to help. So far I can't speak on the warranty process because we haven't needed to file a claim as everything seems well built and inspection was a breeze. New Homeowner of a Wade Jurney New Construction Home: My husband and I began the process of purchasing a Wade Jurney home in November of 2018. Though the process was a tad different for us to begin the home purchase online through their website, the company walked us through the process step by step for our new construction. The slab and beams were already up when we agreed to purchase the home in November 2018 and it only took them till March 2019 to finish the home. We received bi-weekly updates from Leslie Fury with Wade Jurney and she was always very prompt in providing us updates to the construction flow. The rain in North Carolina during the beginning of the year held up some of the construction deadlines but we were kept in the loop of any delays from Leslie. These are very poor built homes. After being in a home for less than a month, I had numerous plumbing issues, the garage has loose bolts and the carpet was done very crappy. Please keep in that mind "you get what you pay for". These houses are cheap for a reason! read more

My husband and I went under contract on a spec home built by Wade Jurney Homes in Deer Crossing in Wilmington, NC. From start (mid-January 2016) to closing (Feb. 29, 2016) we have been in touch with Hannah Kerns via e-mail about every step of the process. We had our own attorney and inspector oversee the contract and inspection with no major issues found. Any minor issues (mostly cosmetic) have been discussed and confirmed to be resolved upon closing. The only reason I did not give WJH a 5-star review is because we have not officially closed on the home yet. read more

This has to be one of the worst builders in the triad. This builder hired a concrete company to pour slabs for several homes in our Community. Six concrete trucks arrived at the same time to pour the slabs. In doing so the concrete company, drove down our street and dropped huge chunks of dirt and left them there. Wade Jurney was advised by several residents the street was a mess and needed to be cleaned. Wade Jurney advised one of the contractors onsite to clean up the dirt. Which was done by a bobcat machine. And scrape marks were left In the street. We were told a street cleaning crew would clean the street again on 12/23/16, however this never happened. It rained 12/24/16 which caused a huge mess of orange mud. Which tracked into our driveways and throughout the entire community. Wade Jurney was contacted on 12/27/16 and advised the driveways needed to be pressure washed in addition to the street. We had our driveways pressured washed back in September by our HOA. Now our driveways are orange and caked with mud. Wade Jurney doesn't want to pressure wash our driveways. Which is unacceptable! Our driveways were not orange when they started the work! DON'T PURCHASE A HOME from this company!! read more
