WDRC-FM, is a station that has a format, known in the industry as Classic Hits. Stations with this format, play songs from the the 50s
through the early 80s.
The Classic Hits format, has replaced the traditional Oldies radio format, which featured songs from the 50s, through about 1973. That format targeted the oldest Baby Boomers, who grew up during the 50s, 60s, and early 70s.
By contrast, the Classic Hits format, targets the oldest Boomers, through the youngest ones. That makes the Classic Hits format more
profitable, for the station owners. Overall, WDRC doesn't differ much
from other stations, that have the Classic Hits format.
Best thing about WDRC in my opinion, is the Rockin' Ron Sadaille show. His show is on every Saturday night, from 7PM until Midnight.
It's an all-request show. So listeners get the chance to call Rockin' Ron during his show, and ask him to play their favorite song. I love the cute, old fashioned radio jingles, that are featured throughout his show. And Rockin' Ron's campy, exuberant DJ patter, makes his show quite a lively, fun program.
WDRC is a decent Classic Hits station, but nothing extraordinary. Except for the Rockin' Ron Sadaille show, every Saturday night. read more
