I came in on a vacation and wanted to get a haircut/color since I barely have time in my busy life. I have short, blond fair hair with some grays coming in and Valorie and Doug both worked together to ensure they got the color just right, and Doug gave me probably the best haircut I've had since I've gone short. They are so friendly and warm, gave me lots of advice about the area and even though they knew I was out-of-towner and likely not going to return, Doug put in lots of time and effort to do a great job. Blonds beware!!! Really cute place. Love the decoration. The first time I had my hair done here the style and cut were awesome.My boyfriend was impressed. The second time my color was pretty mediocre- getting a natural looking blond is apparently not their speciality - even after a toner it still had a lot of yellow undertones. The chemical line they use smelled so awful that even after a wash and condition I was still getting sick from the smell the next day and my scalp felt really irritated. They are very nice, but inconsistent, and they charge a little more then most of the places in town. If you want natural-looking blond I would head to elsewhere. This is more of 40 years and up place. Update: Its been four days and I can still smell the chemicals when I wash my hair - people have noticed the color change- comments from random male co- workers include - uh did you color your hair? - not really the kind of comments I want to hear. I am trying to grow out my hair and she is always very good about not cutting too much off. But, I would have to say that coloring is her strong point. Valorie and Doug are so amazingly dedicated and passionate about their work and their clients that I'd send anyone their way. Except in last minute hair cut emergencies (a job interview or something) I've only trusted Valorie to cut or highlight my hair for the last...5 years? Maybe longer. I live 3.5 hours away but I still hold off for my visits to Tahoe to schedule an appointment at V'z. Valorie is the only person I've let take off 10 inches of hair at a time, and when I first asked for natural looking highlights that could grow out without upkeep, that's exactly what I got. People would ask me if I'd ever had highlights and when I said yes they were always complimenting the way they grew out to such a natural ombre. What a gem of a find! A girlfriend and I were in Tahoe for this past NYE weekend and we were desperate for a manicure (me) and pedicure (her). From the moment the phone was answered to the time we walked out the door the experience was amazing! This is a very special, modern, professional salon. If you're looking for a line of pedicure chairs with people barking at you to pick a color you'll be sorely disappointed. A pedicure here is classy with a copper tub to soak your feet in, aromatherapy all around you and a super friendly staff. Love this place. Wanted to write another review since Yelp! has a mysterious way of removing reviews for businesses that don't subscribe...seems counter to the mantra of what Yelp! is all about. Anyway, I had another great experience at V'z. This time with Rachelle and Valerie. Such great service, they really pamper you, no matter what service you are going in for. I have my regular hairdresser back in the bay area that I've been going to forever and he still does my color. I come to V'z to get my touch ups...or i plan to whenever I can. It was only my second time coming into the salon but they make me feel like I've been going there forever. I have a few, maybe 8, stubborn little hair strands that love to turn grey before the rest of my hair even shows any wear. They do a great job getting those little rascals to behave. To all women with fine, limp, not a lot of hair this is the place to go! I am a middle age women with very fine, not any body and not a lot of hair. My entire life I have been going to professionals to do something with my hair. It is not a difficult job for a stylist to make someone that has beautiful hair make it look beautiful. But.....my hair I have not EVER been able to find someone who was able to make something of my hair except now. Go see Valorie at Vz ask for the compression cut it is the cut for you! For once in my life I feel my hair has a style, my hair looks full. I can even get up in the morning and brush it and it looks good. I was never able to do that I always had to wash it before it looked ok. I am actually excited to do my hair. To me it is all about a good cut. That is not to diminish the fact that oh yes Valorie can color, she is so creative and I look forward to what she will come up with next time. FYI ignore the blones beware review because Im blonde and the products the used on my hair before my haircut didn't have any negative affects only wonderful wonderful results, making my hair silky smooth (which is difficult to do with my hair). I have always had a fear of going to a hairdresser (I am extremely protective of my hair)I always had bad experiences at salons until I came here and I couldnt be happier and can promise I'm only going to come here to get a beautiful hair cut from trusting stylist. Also they are super knowledgeable about their products they have there and will educate you on which products are actually really bad for your hair and scalp health. When I came in for a hair trim and to get bangs I also got my eyebrows waxed at the end the cost was so reasonable I believe it was in the $40 range. literally would give them more stars if I could! So if you want a cut, dye, or whatever you would like done to your hair come here you really will be happy with your service! P.S the staff is really friendly and nice! read more

valorie and her girls were so wonderful the day of my wedding! in addition to doing my mother and sisters, they also fit in the groom's mother, sister and grandmother. i was finished ahead of schedule, which eased my nerves (as much as a bride's could be). valorie had a nice setup of champagne and pastries. really the whole staff was a bonus joy to the occasion. their styling talents were all great and possessed enough diversity to make each person a little unique. valorie did both my hair and make-up, and she really took the time to understand my style and the overall look i wanted created. she is my mother's regular stylist, and i am so happy my mom found her and that her salon accommodated my wedding! read more
