Regarding my bathroom, every small detail I wanted to change or adjust was handled quickly and with great precision. From the very beginning of the process, starting with the beautiful design created for me, all the way to selecting materials and through to the completion of the project everything was top-level. My mom was very involved in the design process, and Shir was able to balance both of our perspectives seamlessly -- which is no small task! She handled everything from major pieces like beds, couches, and chairs to smaller details like hardware, candles, and vases. Every choice felt intentional and cohesive. She really understood how to bring our modern-cozy vision to life while honoring the architecture of our Spanish-style home here in Southern California. Hiring Shir was absolutely worth it. Beyond her expert eye for design, you're paying for the time, clarity, and confidence that come with working with a true professional. We would've spent months second-guessing decisions (and probably made costly mistakes) trying to do this ourselves. Instead, we got a beautifully designed home that feels effortless and perfectly "us." Highly, highly recommend her for both big and small projects -- she's amazing at what she does.

We consulted Lisa once we had already embarked on the project although I wish we had done it sooner. From the beginning, Lisa made us feel welcome and comfortable even though this was not a million dollar project. We appreciated her positive attitude and generous spirit. She provided key input on layout, design and materials as well as expert vendor recommendations for window treatments, closet solutions, lighting, tiles, fixtures, wall coverings, furniture and decor. Her rates were fair and she was always mindful of our budget and time constraints when recommending ideas and solutions. Lisa took time to understand our aesthetic preferences. She worked tirelessly to make sure that the contractor/ vendors delivered high quality results and on time. When we had a small issue with the closet vendor, she immediately escalated it and made sure that the work was completed to our satisfaction. Her thoughtful recommendations and painstaking attention to detail were critical in delivering results which are beautiful, functional, and harmonize well with the rest of the house. Special kudos to her for the kids bedroom, bathroom and powder room- they are stunning thanks to her vision and selection of paint colors, wallpaper and / materials. Finally, we had a lot of fun working with Lisa. Her high energy, enthusiasm and sense of humor took a lot of the stress out of remodeling and made us feel good throughout the process. We really appreciated the opportunity to work with Lisa and hope we get to collaborate again with her in the future

Lisa is an extremely talented designer with so many incredibly valuable industry connections to assist with whatever we needed, and assist with any glitches that might arise. She worked with me directly, and really listened to me and helped me develop ideas and vision. I am beyond thrilled with the project in my West Hollywood home. Her relaxed and friendly demeanor as well as her sense of style, made her seem like someone I would enjoy working with. I am absolutely in LOVE with everything. Her imagination, creativity and attention to detail was a very big help. She is professional, resourceful, trustworthy, and easy to work with. Her customer service and record keeping skills are first-rate. Also, she always had an eye on the contractor and workmanship details. I never would have known to watch for these things. Everything came in on time, on budget, and exceeded my expectations. The painters and assorted trades and workers she recommended were timely, considerate, and professional. The quality of all the design and construction work is excellent, and we saved on budget with beautiful results. I absolutely could not be more thrilled.

Good understanding of Feng Shui (for Asian clients). Excellent communication & very accommodating. Back story: We were looking to sell our 2011 newly built house in the San Gabriel Valley. The house had been on the market for about 3 months but had not sold. We decided to hire a Edward to help us stage our house in hopes that it would sell quickly. (House: 2 story, 3 bedroom, 1 office/ guest room, 3.5 bathroom) Communication: Excellent! Predominately through text, email, and phone. Edward was quick to respond to any questions or concerns I had. Design: Nice, clean, and modern in design. He personally came out to the house to get a look at the space himself. Edward worked with Asian clients before, so he had good understanding of Feng Shui and what Asian clients like. This was beneficial since most of our clientele are Asian (considering the area). He home staged 3 sitting areas, the guest room, 2 dining areas, and 2 bathrooms. Our house is somewhat awkwardly structured but Edward made good use of the space. His package also included professional photos that we could use to market our house. Everyone who saw our house was very impressed! They loved the design and asked for Edwards business card for the future. Time frame: Initial home staging and design approx 4 days. After our house was sold the buyers requested to move in ASAP. Edward was also able to accommodate for that, scheduling a pick up and moving everything out within 3 days. Price: Fair. Based on # of months, # of rooms, and the amount of furniture needed. We opt to home stage for 1 month but had to extend. The longer you home stage the cheaper the overall cost. Edward: Very friendly and accommodating. Great to work with!

She truly goes above and beyond in every sense of the word, and I can't imagine this process without her. From the very beginning, she impressed us with her patience and her ability to really listen to our needs, preferences, and even unspoken concerns. She never rushed us into decisions, and instead provided multiple thoughtful renderings until we felt 100% confident in the direction. She doesn't just design for beauty--she designs for the way a family actually lives. Every idea she presented balanced practicality with elegance, which is exactly what we wanted for our home. One of the qualities I value most is that she's not afraid to give her honest, professional opinion. If something wouldn't work functionally or aesthetically, she told us upfront and explained why--saving us from costly mistakes we might have regretted later. That kind of candor is rare, and it shows how much she genuinely cares about her clients' best interests. She also has an incredible talent for sourcing materials and pieces that look high-end while staying within our budget. Not once did she pressure us into overspending, and yet the end result feels far more luxurious than we thought possible. She has a keen eye for detail, whether it's the perfect lighting fixture, the flow of the floor plan, or just the right paint tone that changes with the light throughout the day. Her project management skills deserve equal praise--she communicates clearly, stays on top of timelines, and coordinates seamlessly with contractors and vendors. Remodeling a whole house can be overwhelming, but she made it organized, smooth, and surprisingly stress-free. Most importantly, she treats your home as if it were her own--pouring thought, creativity, and care into every choice. We now walk through our home in awe that it reflects both our lifestyle and personality so perfectly. If you're looking for an interior designer who is talented, dependable, practical, creative, and genuinely invested in making your vision come to life, look no further than MGU design. She's a true gem, and we feel lucky to have found her.

Also, naturally, there were a few hiccups due to other product manufacturers screwing up along the way. Whenever this happened, Mu kicked into gear and saved the day multiple times. She got products replaced that weren't shipped in top condition and made sure every detail was perfect, even down to a tiny last piece of a window blind. I'm so glad I went with her. I first contacted inspired closets during the initial design process of my home. Laura coached us on closet size and even gave a ball park estimate of how much $$ to set aside to for 5 closet's after our build. Fast forward, once our home was rough framing Laura came out and met with our designer to discuss possible layout for each room. Laura made suggestions and was so patient. Right before move in I realized we missed a closet (hidden behind the front door when it was wide open) and she made an extra trip out to help make design suggestions for what my family needed. After move in I made two extra requests and she was always very helpful and patient. I had two install guys come and both were awesome! I would do it all over again with this team!

Ahhh what a disaster of a company. Do NOT hire them. The first red flag should've been the fact…read morethat they overcharged us by $1,500 beyond what our agreement stated. When I brought that up they didn't even offer an apology, just a made up explanation as to why this happened. After this, I decided to remove my credit card info from file, but they still managed to charge that same card $10,000 a month AFTER it was removed from file. Communication was so embarrassing. We were told we'd get an ETA on the epoxy installation, but never did. We had to chase them down and even then we had no idea when the installers would arrive, they just ended up showing up unannounced. This company charged us over $22k deposit before any work had even started, which is illegal in CA (California Business & Professions Code §7159 states a licensed contractor may collect no more than $1,000 or 10% (whichever is less) before work begins). Our sales person Gail was very nice up until she got her commission, but once we expressed concerns she couldn't even give a legitimate apology. On the day of installation I asked a simple question of whether work would be done to both the guest room and garage that day, and literally not one person could answer my question. When the installers arrived, Gail texted us saying we were supposed to remove the rod and closet shelf and that she told us this beforehand, which was a complete lie. Nobody informed us that we had to do this before installation. Our installation is still not complete and Gail didn't listen at all to what we wanted, we didn't get measurements for anything, we had to ask and even then it was limited. Not sure why every detail was hidden from us. The material looks and feels so cheap also. Gail designed cabinetry directly adjacent to the garage door opening and track creating an improper clearance condition. She didn't even warn us or let us know. This entire company is shady, all about profit, and all of it goes straight up to the people in sales who are getting commission. This entire operation is like a pyramid scheme for people in sales. My neighbor walked over and asked the crew for their information, I will be letting her know about all of this before she has a chance to call them. Avoid this place like the plague. Gail and this entire company is the worst. The only positives I have are about the installation crew Ali, and yhe older gentleman that came to our house, they were great and professional. Unfortunately the rest of the company is a complete scam.

Engaging in a contract with Meridith Baer Home has resulted in the single most WORST consumer…read moreexperience of my life. My husband and I incurred a financial loss of $21,000.00 after entering into a contract for home staging of our 5.5-million-dollar property located in Bluff Park (long beach) that we were preparing for sale. Our experience commenced when Mary from Meridith Baer Home visited our property for an initial consultation. Mary walked the property pointing to just about every piece of furnishing stating "this must go" and "this must go". Despite our home being fully furnished, Mary assured us that Meridith Baer Home could far improve on our current furnishings by implementing an elevated and cohesive transitional design utilizing new or near-new furnishings. Mary informed us that Meridith Baer Home "only utilizes furnishings ONCE or perhaps twice" before donating them. So, we signed the contract, gave Meridith Baer Home $21,000.00 and donated practically all of our furnishings, artwork, and accessories. The staging installation was scheduled as a two-day process. At the end of day one my husband and I went to the property to meet the designer and assess the progress. We were in utter disbelief of the condition and style of the furnishings that had been delivered. The furniture/furnishings were old, damaged, broken, stained, had a terrible odor, and in general, in terrible condition. Not the "transitional design using new furniture" that was promised by Mary or what is shown in Meridith Baer Home social media. We contacted Mary and arranged for a meeting first thing on day two. During our meeting, Mary, the project designer, our real estate agent, and myself conducted a walkthrough of the property. Mary agreed that all existing furnishings should be removed, and other furnishings should be brought in. We presented Mary with the broken furniture, stains on the sofa, odors in the rugs, and the poor quality of the artwork. We expressed our concerns about the significant deviation from the promised conditions. Mary consistently interrupted our questions and only responded with the phrase, "It will be fixed." At the conclusion of the walkthrough, my husband requested a private conversation with Mary, excluding the designer and our realtor. He wanted to discuss the situation candidly and understand the reasons behind the discrepancies between the promised and actual conditions. Mary responded by stating that no private conversations would be held, as the designer was in a position of authority and could address any concerns directly. My husband, avoiding any potential embarrassment for the designer, chose to remain silent and refrain from further discussion. Upon leaving the meeting, we were informed that the following day, the existing furnishings would be removed, and suitable replacements would be delivered. Later that evening, while reviewing the security camera footage, we discovered a video recording of Mary and the designer engaged in a conversation in front of our Ring video doorbell. In this conversation, Mary made light of and mocked my husband's request for a private discussion. This revelation led us to conclude that we could not proceed with the project, as we believed that Mary and her team were not acting in good faith. We contacted our realtor and requested that he inform Mary about the recording and our decision to withdraw from the Meridith Baer Home project. Our realtor informed us shortly thereafter that he had been instructed to request that we submit a written cancellation of the staging to Meridith Baer Home. That same day, we submitted our cancellation and requested that all of their property be removed from our home and that a refund be issued. The property was removed several days later, but no refund was issued. When the property was removed, their staff took hours to remove it. After reviewing our security camera footage, I could see real-time that the staff was lying around on the furniture and overall, fooling around without working. Again, how very disrespectful to conduct themselves this way in someone's home. In conclusion, although we sought legal counsel to recover our $21,000.00 loss, our counselor advised that the cost of seeking a refund and the personal time spent attempting to recover this loss might not be worth our while. Therefore, this was a $21,000.00 lesson. The Meridith Baer Home contract is completely one-sided. We signed the contract against our better judgement. My husband and I are both business owners and in our businesses we would have NEVER signed a contract that offered ZERO protections to us. Given the Meridith Baer Home "name" we decided (against our better judgment) to trust the name and brand. This was not a wise choice. After this fiasco, we did additional research and found that our story is not unique. There are lawsuits on the internet representing the same exact experience we had. For pictures/video DM me.
