Long Island Sound and the Thimble Islands are right across the street providing a great view out our front door. We have a new minister (two years now), Pastor James Hill. My sister and I have not spoken in over twenty years. She passed away last month. My attempts to…read morecommunicate with her over the last decade was fruitless . Back in 1995 , Rev Mark Anderson drove a wedge between us. He counselled my sister into breaking off all ties with my husband and myself. I married a man than Rev Anderson did not approve of . We had the wedding in the Catholic Church and I originally asked Rev Anderson to take part in a two faith ceremony and he had 10001 reasons for me to not marry outside my faith. He declined to take part in my wedding and he began telling my family bad things about me. He convinced my sister to not be my maid of honor and eventually Anderson convinced my sister to not attend and she broke off all ties with us. Anderson was not a normal rational minister and he separated me from my family out of spite and self righteousness.

No church is perfect, no pastor is perfect. We do our best with the gifts we have and pray that God…read moreadds his grace to our gifts so that we can serve our community and the world. The minister who was here in 1994 died in 1997. We have a new pastor now who is very nice. He's been here since 2011. Many long-term members still attend regularly, and we have some new members as well. We have a talented music director and would love to have more people in the choir. We have services at 9:00am and 10:30am, and childcare is provided. Learn & Play, a Christian Early Learning center, shares our space. We collect and distribute food to food banks and needy families in our congregation. We have a free community dinner on the first Friday of every month. All are welcome. We have a coffee house on the second Saturday of every month called Jubal's Latte, with local musicians and entertainers. We have handicapped parking and the sanctuary and fellowship hall are fully accessible. We like to say that on your first visit, you're a guest; on your second visit, you're part of the family (if you wish to be).
