Her dentist even said she should never have been sent home from the ER. But apparently, Dr. Dieter J. Moya and Dr. Blake D. Maida have a "standard policy" that even emergency, life-threatening situations must be paid in full before the patient is even allowed through the door. I asked multiple times if she could at least go to the back while I handled the payment -- they refused, every single time. They didn't offer to explain how long the procedure would take, where I should wait, or what to expect for recovery. I had to ask for every single detail. Then they told me I wasn't even allowed to leave the building! This staff and this office are cold, unprofessional, and completely heartless. The only thing they care about is money -- not patients, not compassion, not human decency. I wouldn't recommend these dental surgeons or this office to anyone -- not a person, not a pet, not even an insect. I genuinely hope they one day experience what it feels like to be in pain, scared, and treated like nothing more than a dollar sign. We paid the $50 specialist co-pay for the MetLife dental insurance but then we told them we'll go to another doctor who would preform the procedure under blue cross blue shield. We would recommend Lighthouse Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in the med center. They took care of us, were much more reasonable and treated us with respect. Memorial Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery seemed to only care about the money and not the patient. They still continue to send us a bill for $100+ DESPITE only having imaging done with them. We have advised them to file the remaining amount with blue cross blue shield but they still ignore us. Blue cross blue shield will cover all x-rays. It's a very simple solution, they can throw out the $100 charge because we never chose to not continue working with them or file it on our blue cross blue shield. Common sense is a rare trait today though.

The IV bag hung from a string in the ceiling, the surgical suite was cold and dark and I had to reconfirm several times which tooth we were removing. They were very cold and not personable after surgery either. The days that followed were terrible.. I called a few times to inquire about some recovery questions and was met with disrespect like I was an inconvenience to the staff. I also had to wait over an hour or more for my post op appts, and spent MAYBE 10 mins with Dr. Koo when he finally came in. The surgical site is still not the best. Overall, He was very dismissive and seemed very distant after surgery, I'm not sure if he even desires to provide good care or just wants you in and out.. I did not return for the implant and will not. Always do your due diligence when looking for any kind of healthcare professional, it will save you a lot of mistreatment.

They asked me to just raise my hand if it is hurting. I asked them to dose it up because I was in a lot of pain and the dentist declined to give me extra. I always need extra and thought I made it clear that extra would be necessary. They asked me to come back for a day 2 and I asked for sedation. It turns out my insurance doesn't cover that, so it cost $250 more plus another charge for the dam they use to keep your mouth open. Dentist finished, stood up and walked out abruptly.

However, after meeting Dr. Lopez and talking to him he put all my concerns to rest. His bedside manners are second to none. After my consolidation, the ladies in the office called before my surgery to check in with me, to review my procedure again and make sure I didn't have any additional questions. The day of the surgery Dr. Lopez did everything he could to make sure I was comfortable. He came out behind the receptionist desk when I was in the waiting room and asked if I was ready and starting making jokes. He knew that I was terrified of needles like a little kid so he made me completely forget about the needle. I mentioned that laying back helps me when it comes to needles, so before he started the IV he reclined my seat all the way back in a full relax mood, he had one of his assistants hold my hand. On the day of the procedure, it lasted about 30 minutes; one wisdom tooth was more complex and took a bit longer. The recovery was smooth, with no significant pain or swelling, thanks to careful adherence to the medication schedule. Five days post-surgery, I noticed only a small hematoma in a facial area. The office is very COVID safe: not allowing guests in waiting rooms, monitoring temperatures, staff wearing face shields. For the procedure, I chose to go under and it was a very quick procedure (less than an hour). I only had to clamp down on the gauze for 1 hour afterwards and the bleeding disappeared. I didn't have any pain afterwards and didnt need any pain medication! I was back to eating solid food within 5 days. The office provides you with a specific syringe that you can spray into the holes left behind by the teeth to clean out any food debris stuck in the holes which was very helpful! The staff also call on you to check up and are very responsive to any questions. Dr. Mahmood is also very personable. Honestly, the most seamless experience ever, I couldn't rate any higher.
