I love the information in the programs (about the work, the performers, and even basic information for beginners) and a lot of the concerts have a pre-concert informational session in which people discuss the work about to be played. I love that it's very accessible for young people and there is a growing community here! Concerts are normally $25-35 a ticket, but with a $75 Young Friends membership you are able to sign up for unlimited concerts for the season. There are also normally receptions after the show or during intermission. This is such a great org in the Philly cultural scene!

I was able to…read morescore drastically reduced tickets with a promo code from my church, so at around $10/ticket, what a steal! We were in for a real treat too! The music, which consisted of all violin and cello was beautiful, delightful, it was a heavenly relaxing experience after a long day. It was easily clear how skilled and gifted these musicians are, I enjoyed the concert so much that I thought to myself two things- one, I want to come back for more concerts! Two, I plan to expand my classical music repertoire, I definitely will be listening to more similar pieces on Pandora, lol. A few suggestions that I have which would have made the evening even better: the narrator/orator who I believe gave the pre-concert lecture, which I missed, also gave a 20 minute introduction about the 7 sonatas. While I found the introduction interesting, I found it a bit lengthy and he was a bit verbose. I think a 10 minute intro would have captivated my attention better. The various Biblical references and verses, the Biblical relevance was incredibly interesting, however. I do wish that they had a brief intermission. I enjoyed my snack and beverage from the concession stand at a premium price, the ushers were friendly and helpful for the most part, except for one ornery one and forgetting to give us programs initially. All in all, great show which was indeed worthy of my standing O! (Yes I intended that rhyming! ). I would love to come back and see more shows here! Great location, great performance, a lot of fun!!

But this basement gallery can be the perfect destination for an eclectic First Friday gathering. From the looks of the format Sub2 has 3 main walls that cater to three different arts: one digital, one illustration/arts, and one for photography. The photography selection and digital components of the gallery have been up for the past 3-5 months which is a little to long for an ever changing artscape like the galleries of Old City. but since it showcases chill astronauts and interesting photographic shots of Philly (I love the ones of Rittenhouse Square in a snowy winter!), I can't say that I'm complaining too much. The newest addition has been the cool black & white illustrations of Jen Lightfoot which were brilliant to look at. So wow it might have not shown enough art over the past couple of months as other spots, it at least makes up for it in quality over quantity. And on the gallery scale most of the pieces that it shows are actually somewhat affordable.

I came via public trans - super easy to get to. It's right off the 34th st MFL stop. My friend and I were greeted by two Drexel students working the front desk who were super friendly and asked if we had visited there before. When we said no, they asked how we found out about it and proceeded to tell us more about the Gallery and previous exhibits they've had. Since it's Drexel-affiliated, some previous exhibits had to do with Drexel history, which isn't something I'd be super into, but I'm definitely excited to see what they will show here in the future. As a huge music fan, seeing photographs of some of my favorites (Queen, Elton John, etc.) were super cool. Especially when you think about the fact that technology back then isn't what it is now. I loved that they played a video about Bob Gruen, interviewing him and some of the musicians featured in his photos about his work. They are having an event with the author this week and I am really considering coming back. My favorite part was the bedroom replica with the walls covered in posters, photos, and clippings. Check this exhibit our before it leaves in May! Update - came back for the interview event with Bob himself. Kudos to the Gallery for pulling off this great event and book signing. It really brought his art to life!

Also, while in my lessons, I was taught multiple songs, some in different languages like French and German, so I could audition for colleges. Lastly, the price was $100/month, which isn't too bad. Overall, I had a very good experience when I took lessons here. I still use the same techniques that I was taught then and have benefited from using them greatly.

Also, the address above is the address where this dance is held, which is the Rose Tree Fire House. In the interest of full disclosure, I have become good friends with Joe through attending his parties and lessons, and I occasionally help out here on a volunteer basis. This dance is my recommendation for all beginner dancers. The people are all very friendly, and are very beginner friendly. This dance boasts a one of a kind "coaching corner." If one is not familiar with the steps of a dance, you can go to the coaching corner where an experienced dancer will teach you the basic step of that dance. The free lesson at the beginning of the dances is also very beginner friendly. The food generally is pretty extensive and is enough for a simple meal, although I usually eat dinner again with all the calories I burn off (hahaha). There are usually two songs played back to back of the same dance throughout the evening so one can really practice that dance - another beginner friendly feature. A friendly tip: The firehouse can be tough to find. It is not right off of Providence road, but you have to make a quick turn across from the Wawa. Look for the Wawa, because it is really off of that small side street across from it.
