After paying a $7 admission fee, we were taken around on a personal tour by one of the owners. He took us around the entire museum and showed us each piece one-by-one, sharing tidbits of knowledge and interesting facts. For someone who is interested in geology, this is a good place to go. It is beyond evident owners know what they're talking about and are highly passionate and knowledgeable on the topic. We learned so many new facts that day. There's also a gift shop where you can purchase various items, including beautifully crafted jewelry, many of which are made in-house. You can also sign up for classes - kids and adults - where you get to help cut pretty rocks into pieces produced for jewelry (I forgot all of the technical terms). In addition to rocks and stones, there are also fossils as well as a really unique and cool old glass bottle collection. Check it out next time you're in the area!

The owners are such nice people! The gentleman gave us a guided tour where I got to see a lot of fascinating things. They also have a great gift shop where the lady showed me some of the items. I highly recommend this museum! I am definitely going back when I have more time to see everything.

My family has been coming to Lake Gaston (LKG) since our friends moved up fourteen years ago. As my…read morefamily aged, my children, who are now adults, would want to bring friends. That's too much to impose on your host, so I started renting houses at LKG through Story Properties for our summer LKG vacations. I was satisfied with all the rentals, some more than others naturally. There was one particular summer that was 'harsh' as my elderly mom was hospitalized, discharged, re admitted, transferred... You see where I going with this? An emotional, as well as physically draining time. I had rented a beautiful house for two weeks that year. Beth Story was more like a hostess than realtor. As I was having to move 'stuff' around to try & accommodate the different families, and drive 3 1/2 hours back & forth to Eastern NC to check on my folks, Beth & I became 'phone buddies'. She was just as supportive concerning my mom, as she was with handling the rental. We developed a trusted business connection. When I started looking at real estate to purchase at LKG, I went straight to Story Properties, which is owned & operated by Beth & Tommy Story. I am not the easiest or quickest to settle on property. They were always patient, honest & supportive with my inquiries. To make a long story short, I purchased a LKG home this year! They made the process as painless as it could be .....short of 'gifting' the home to me! Their recommendations for inspectors, contractors, lawyers, etc. were right on the money. The right people to match, not just the items of interests, but to my personality. Being a long distance purchase, they made themselves available to stand in for me when I was unable to be there & oversee different projects. Long story short? If you are in the market for rental property for vacations or to purchase, do yourself a favor & contact Beth & Tommy Story at Story Properties. I highly recommend them and their agency.

All they do is take a huge percentage of the proceeds and offer no services to our vacationers beyond minimal cleaning beforehand and NO support during their stay. Story Properties, you should be ashamed of yourselves!
