The whole point of why I was seeking a CA attorney was that I needed someone well versed in CA real estate law, especially Prop 13 law. So for him to say I needed a NH attorney (who would know nothing about CA RE law and Prop 13 law) was exactly the opposite of what I needed, and showed he was not exactly on top of things, either then or later in his response to the review. As for "I do not handle that type of law" in the review response, their web site lists "REAL ESTATE" as one of the areas of expertise for Attorney Michael K. Wolder. So I think there's more "confusion" here, too, either in the initial query response or the review response.

Before signing the retainer agreement, I specifically asked how quickly they could move forward with serving the notice. I was told approximately 3-4 days. Based on that representation, I signed the agreement. However, after four days, instead of the matter moving forward, I received another call simply to schedule a phone conversation for several days later. I also explained the facts of my case multiple times by email and phone. Despite that, important basic information about the property and my situation did not seem to be clearly understood or communicated internally. At one point, I was even called by the wrong name. That alone would not have been a major issue, but combined with everything else, it raised concerns about how carefully my case was being handled. Another major concern was transparency. During this process, I was communicating by phone and email with several different people at the firm, yet I could not find information about some of them on the firm's website. The website prominently presents Mr. Anthony Burton, so when I retained the firm, I naturally assumed he would have significant involvement in my case. Instead, I found myself communicating with other people whose roles, experience, and backgrounds were not clear to me. For a legal matter, especially a time-sensitive one, I believe clients should know exactly who is handling their case and what that person's qualifications and responsibilities are. Unfortunately, my experience did not give me the level of confidence I expected when hiring a law firm. I hope the firm improves its internal communication, transparency about its team, and the expectations it gives clients before they sign a retainer agreement.

I hired Olson Law Firm for my civil case and paid a $5,000 retainer. My experience was very…read moredisappointing. I repeatedly had to follow up for basic updates, and important work I expected to be completed was not filed during the representation. The draft documents I received contained errors and required correction. After I terminated the representation and requested a refund, I was first told there would be an accounting/refund, then later offered a split of the retainer. After I disputed the work, I received an invoice claiming the entire $5,000 retainer was used and that I owed an additional $2,142.50. I also disputed several billing entries because they appeared duplicative, unsupported, or related to communications where I was simply asking for updates. I am now pursuing the appropriate fee dispute process and have requested documentation supporting the invoice. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this firm.
