After being with my friends for less than an hour I ran into my parents again and my mom had bought a purse from a man who's brand name was Modi. She told me how nice Mauro was, what a deal she got (I couldn't believe what she paid for such a beautiful bag), and that I should go check it out. If I had the money and the time, I could easily have bought five bags from him, but being pressed for time (and money) I left with a beautiful wallet. He hand makes everything and is one of the most genuinely nice men you could ever meet. If I am ever back in Assisi I will definitely be visiting his shop again.

What sold me on buying a leather duffle bag was a sewing machine sitting right in the middle of the shop that was old and showed much evidence of being used. We browsed & I was looking for some nice gifts/souvenirs for my friends & family back home. I saw the beautiful leather belts & thought a particular friend would like it. So we bought it. We took a picture of the Maria, the artisan of the belt to show our giftee. Maria was very friendly & cheerful to deal with. We told her we were visiting from Canada. As we purchased the belt she told us she had received an order from Canada that very day. What a small world & I'm happy we stumbled upon her shop.
