It's Sunday night, and I didn't feel like doing anything, including cooking. In Niagara Falls,…read morethere's only one place with acceptable pizza: Frank's Pizzeria. No arguing! Being in Canada with Buffalo and Niagara Falls, NY just a stone's throw away, we're spoiled for choice when it comes to pizza and wings. I ordered the classic Niagara Falls, Canada tray with pepperoni. For my American friends, this is a double tray with New York style pepperoni (not cup and char, though that's an option). Oddly enough, it's considered a luxury as a double item here! I eat and review a lot of pizza. I'd describe Frank's as a balance between Buffalo style, with its slightly thicker crust, and The Falls style, with its slightly herby, tangy sauce. It's a hybrid of the two. Is it good? Absolutely! It's got a great sauce-to-crust ratio. The herby, tangy taste reminds me of Sammy's on Hyde Park. The crust isn't as thick as Imperial Pizza, more like La Nova. It's a nice balance, though it's a shame cup and char pepperoni is a luxury here in Canada. That said, Frank's offers a great pizza with its own unique taste. It's a testament to the diverse pizza landscape in this border region, combining elements from both Canadian and American pizza traditions.

Please note that this pizza is NOT CHEAP. One slice ended up being over 10 CAD. And to justify the price they don't even have tables or chairs. After a lot of subpar slices around the region, I was a bit hesitant but when I saw hand pulled soda, I had to drop in as I was curious. I dropped in and looked around. Cool looking spot and they offered a few different slice options. There was a what looked like vegan option which was sauce, garlic and I assume olive oil. I asked about their most popular slice and they said the pepperoni. Looking at the slice it, I definitely wanted to try it. It was cup and char style pepperoni. They asked if I wanted it reheated, I said yes and in no time I got my slice to try. I grabbed a seat by the window and looked up and down the empty street. I took a bite and yup, best slice I've had in the area in awhile. I will admit the slices are way more expensive than most places at $6 but it's a substantially larger slice and higher quality. Would come back to try some other slices or grab a whole pie. I didn't end up getting a hand pulled soda but will.
