What a terrible airline. The good is that it got us there safely. We were only 30 minutes late when we went to Mexico City. We were on time going back. There's a lot of bad: 1) The seats feel like bus seats. They were really firm and hard, reminding me of elementary school chairs. 2) I paid to choose my seat, but we didn't have those seats on our return flight. It would have made little difference, anyway, because the rows are virtually identical from the front to back of the plane. Space is limited. 3) The loading process is disorganized. Most logical carriers will load elderly and people with disabilities before loading everyone else. For some reason, Volaris does not do that, and it causes loading to be far longer. 4) Customer service doesn't exist before, during, or after the flights. If you try to check reservation information, you can only talk to AI or chatbots. They give you the option to text customer service through WhatsApp if you have questions; however, they will give a generic, unhelpful answer that mirrors what the AI/Chatbot says. 5) Flight attendants are there to do the bare minimum. Carry a credit card if you want anything (food, water, etc) as there is a cost to everything. Flight attendants could not even care less if people were getting up when the plane was ascending/descending. 6) If you are tall, you will not enjoy the limited seat space 7) If you didn't pay an extra fee for a seat assignment, then you will not be assigned your seat till the day of the flight. If you did pay for your seat, they could still move your seat, despite you paying for it. Because of their literally absent customer service process, if you have legitimate disability accommodations, they cannot accommodate that till you arrive at the airport. By that time, the seats have already been assigned and there is little they can do to accommodate you. This is the reason people with disabilities were limping without assistance onto the flight in group 6, rather than being boarded prior to the general population. 8) Even if there is a delay to the flight, they do not consistently update their passengers. I had a 30-40 minute delay going from LAX to MEX, but it did not show that there was a delay until we arrived at Mexico City. 9) This is a low-cost carrier and it can be considerably cheaper than other alternatives if you don't carry baggage. If you are carrying baggage and choosing a seat, there may only a 10-20% difference (compared to 30-40%, as you'd see on google flights). Volaris is completely unprofessional. I hear Viva Aerobus is even worse. This said, I'd probably stick with AeroMexico next time I go to Mexico. read more

Where to start with this airline? One, you get what you pay for, and even then, you're still going to pay a lot. This is a no frills, uncomfortable seats, pay to choose your seat, no food on the flight unless you want to pay for it, no entertainment, no wifi access at all..... Only reason we took this flight is it was nonstop at the time we wanted to leave and figured, how bad could it be? We found it. We were seated and stuck on the tarmac for an hour, after the doors were closed, for some reason. No apologies or anything, no explanation. The seats are so tight, I would say tighter than any other airline I have flown on. I'm 6'0 and my knees were against the seat in front of me basically. Just very uncomfortable. Staff was nice enough, though I didn't interact with them personally during the flight, but I saw their interactions with others. Guess that's a positive for the airline. Personally, I'd say to avoid Volaris, just not with your hard earned money. Plus, after all the fees they charge, you could fly Delta or something comfortable for the same price. read more

This time I had to fly through this terrible airline because I didn't had a choice... First I tried to check in on line but today to be able to check in you have to have their app. So I tried at least three times to get it but I wasn't able to connect it. Then I arrived to the airport and they charge me 500 pesos to check me in... Then I was sent to gate 30 that is some 15 minute walk from their counter. I ask for a wheel chair in the hall way and I was transported from gate 12 to gate 30. At 7:20 they call to board, but after some 10 minutes in the process they called to stop and unload the people that were boarding. They announced that the plane had a technical problem and they were waiting for instructions. Some ten minutes later they informed that due to this problem they had to change planes. At that time they said to all passengers to walk back to gate 11 some 17 minute walk. I suffer of bad knees so I went back to an agent and told him my problem that they were sending us back to gate eleven and that I needed a wheel chair... His answer was literally " I'm not sending you to gate eleven is the airline" I couldn't believe his response, finally I had to walk back there... when we arrived to this tiny little gate 11 it was crowded no air conditioner and smelled like hell with people seating in the floor and 5 standing lines waiting for some information, not at all... until 8:20 some Volaris personnel appeared at the gate but still no apology, nothing. At 8:27 they informed that they were expecting a plane from Acapulco and asked for our help to board the plane asap... due to the fact that it was looking for a gate ... at the end, at 9:36 I got into my seat... what's coming? I'll find out in the next three and a half hours. During the flight not a free glass of water, everything for pay, everything... 11:15 we arrived to LAX and again we walked one mile from the arrival gate to customs... my solo baggage arrived to the terminal band at 12:20... I know there's nothing they will do to fix these but, at least I want people to know they are not alone and try to flight with any other airline !! read more

Ridiculous experience with my flight from CDMX to Tijuana. We paid extra for assigned seats but they gave them away because they apparently overbooked (but never admitted it) . Then they tried to give me some BS and BF and I would never have even gotten on the flight at all if I hadn't loudly complained in Spanish and English. There were no announcements before the flight, except for a brief, nearly inaudible handheld bullhorn message for us to line up. When I tried to scan my boarding pass, about to enter the flight, is when I was told that I was not allowed to board because there was no seat assigned, despite the fact that I showed the seat purchase receipt and my boarding pass also showed the seat number. Flight screen said On Time then Boarding, never the actual 1 hr 30 min+ delay. People who didn't complain got automatically routed on another flight through Guadalajara which I doubt arrived same day. When I finally got on the plane, the new seat they assigned me was already occupied, so I sat in a random, still available one. Appears that our luggage didn't get loaded on this plane either. This airline may be the cheapest, but also the worst for the same reason. You pay extra to have less restrictions, priority boarding, flight changes, etc. But you will lose your original seat choice if you change either of your flights, and most likely will be on a waiting list to get on the next one. This happened to the wife just for changing her return flight. She left on the departure flight over 12 hours later than my daughter and I, even though she only changed the return flight. Apparently she will be compensated with some type of credit to use in the future. Still waiting for this.. Besides this incident, everything went ok other than we departed close to an hour later than expected. This apparently was because of some passengers arriving late??!! These things I just can't help forgetting about. I did not have any issues in the past with them. Given that there are ways to be aware of the weather conditions Volaris should have an effective method to communicate with a reasonable timeframe of changes to your flight so you can find a solution. Instead this airline has a tendency to wait last minute to inform you of flight changes due to weather in the area and you have to waste time and money to find a solution on your own because they don't offer one. Overall incompetent all the employees in the front desk give different information. As a business all employees should have cohesive and professional information. I've flown the MEX-DEN route with Volaris more than 15 times this year. I use their annual pass and always travel with two passports, so I'm very familiar with their check-in process. But this last experience was a nightmare. I tried to pay for seat 1F using the app, website, and WhatsApp. Nothing worked. I turned to their so-called "AI bot" on WhatsApp--but it's not really AI. It's just a limited multiple-choice menu with no option at all to pay for a seat. The link it sent me was broken too. At the airport, I asked an agent to help. He told me the only way to pay for the seat was through the call center--but the call center was closed. I asked what I could do and he told me there was nothing he could do. After wasting over an hour, another staff member finally helped and completed the payment. But by that point, I was minutes away from missing the flight. Customer service is extremely limited, and the systems are unreliable. Volaris is far from being "the best airline in Mexico." I shouldn't have to fight this hard just to pay for a seat. read more

Had to pay an additional $300 to change our flights. The check in was a sea of travelers who had been similarly screwed over. We were told we had to be checked in three hours in advance. When we showed them the TOS on their site that stated 1-hour check in for international flights they claimed that meant 1-hour in advance at the gate. Which is not what the TOS states. They oversold our return flight back to Las Vegas and even though we showed up more than 2 hours beforehand we could not get on because there were no more seats. They booked us for a flight the following day and charged us $300 US for the change. I could not believe the gate agent could look me in the eye with a straight face. His job is the pits. Cleaning the butts of sewer rats in NYC is a better job than working for Volaris. We will now lose our Las Vegas hotel booking tonight and will need to find a place to stay in Mexico City. Choose this airlines if time and a schedule are not important for you. Their APP works interimittently and the flight boarded 1.5 hours late with zero announcement and the times never updated on the site. We arrived at baggage claim and are the only flight at the airport but have been waiting for over and hour for them to release our luggage. They make zero announcements and are on their own schedule with an unusual number of employees walking about aimlessly. We got to the airport in plenty of time after we checked in on the mobile app. We paid for the luggage when we booked the flight. At the airport they refused to let us on because they over booked and told us to go to special services. The line was three hours just to talk to them for them to tell everyone no. They refused to give us a refund for what they did. I did not miss my flight. I was there. They sent us away and said no. I skipped the line and went to the front desk and pleaded. They said no. Do not fly with these clowns. They left infants, kids, and their families in the airport overnight and for days. Fly with somebody else. No refund. No apology. Had to fly with somebody else. I'd like to tell you about my experience with Volaris at the CDMX airport. Unfortunately my husband and I were affected by the system outage that happened last Friday 7/19. We had our boarding passes and ready to leave CDMX to TX. Well because of the outage, our flight got canceled as we were waiting ready to board at the gate. That was not the problem as it was understandable. However, when we went back after picking up our checked luggage, the airline staff was not helpful at all. We had arrived at the airport at 5am that day, only to be at the airport all day long and be treated poorly by your airline. I approached several different staff members and each one of them would tell me different things and send me to another long line just to be told that there was nothing they could do for me. I saw another passenger filling out information on what seemed to be a list. I spoke to a supervisor and he said they were keeping a list of passengers who wanted to get a flight switch once the system came back up, they would call us. They couldn't offer us vouchers for a hotel stay or for a meal, nothing! My biggest disappoint was later, around 2:30pm my husband and I realized the system had come back up, so we went back to the Volaris counter, was instructed to wait in an international line that was very long. When we got to the counter a lady attended us, she was very rude and unprofessional. Volaris had a flight leaving Saturday 7/20 direct from CDMX to TX, well the lady simply told us there were no more seats and there was nothing she can do to get us on it. I mentioned how we were on a list that was supposed to be priority to those who wanted to switch flights but she didn't care at all. She said the only thing she could do was put us on a direct flight on Monday. No way we could have waited that long. So we left. Later I found out that other people that had gone back to the counter later around 4pm were able to get on that Sat. flight to TX. So around 8pm we went back to the counter, now this time we spoke English, prior to this we were speaking our native language, Spanish. We wanted to try speaking English to see if it would make a difference. After waiting in line for a while, we got to the counter and spoke English to the staff lady. She knew English and was able to help us. We explained what had happened with our flight and how we were looking to get on the next flight out which was the Saturday fight from CDMX to TX. She said, NO PROBLEM, and gave us seats on that flight. Now, how is it that our own people speaking our own language treated us so poorly but when we said we were US citizens and spoke English we're immediately treated differently? To say that I was upset, hurt and very disappointed is an understatement. I understand things happen that are out of our control, but the staff who represent your airline could have done a better job and handled the situation very differently. I do not see myself or my family ever using Volaris again for any of our travel needs and will not be recommending this airline to anyone. I hope the next time, the airline handles itself better for those who decide to use your service. read more

The absolute worst airline on Earth! If using their obsolete websight wasn't bad enough, their check in counters are a complete Circus. Brain dead staff that don't even know how to run a credit card. Had to make a last minute flight arrangement from MEX to Miami as AeroMexico cancelled out flights within 24 hours of departure to catch a cruise sailing in time. We get to the airport to check in and find that their obsolete websight had us flying to and returning from Miami on the same date and plane. I shelled out another $162.43 to have that corrected. When I booked I added the Vuela Plus package that included checked baggage. They have 3 types of service., Basic, only your body and nothing else., Classic, You get to have a carry-on and a personal item or Plus, which gives you all the carry-on things plus a checked bag and priority boarding. When they made the flight schedule change, they "ROBBED" it all from me. I went to the check in gate and that's when the "REAL" insanity began. I figured after the flight change correction I could just check in as normal, but "NO"! There was 2 of us flying and for the 2 checked bags which I had already paid the premium for were charged again. But this time, more than any listing in their baggage costs area. They socked me $258.64 to check 2 bags well under the 22Kilo limit. So, the whole costs of this bloody ticket to go from Mexico City to Miami and back was 34,404.00 peso's which costs $1650.62 US Dollars. So much for the so called economy airline. They are professional thieves too. "PLUS", there is more! The idiot at the checkin counter couldn't even run a visa card. Keeped saying it was rejected on the 3 tries to do it. Had to go to currency exchange and get cash to get the luggage checked. After that fiasco I called my bank wanting to know why my card was rejected. They told me no charge of such was ever run. The only advice I can give you. I you travel with your "BODY" only, it might be reasonable as a carry-on bag alone will be $75 USD. This airline is the King of ripoffs you will ever come across. read more

If I could give this airline Volaris my most honest opinion, I would give it negative 100 stars. The staff is RUDE. They refused to let us board our plane even though we were an hour early. Our plane departure was scheduled for 3:20 pm.. we arrived at the airport at 2:11 pm and they would not let us board. When asked if we could speak to a manager, she was just as rude saying she didn't have a key to allow our baggage to go through. If you're a manager shouldn't you always have a key? It was a complete inconvenience to us We were two women and a small child flying and we had to buy tickets from a different airline. This will be the last time I ever fly from volarís. On the other hand I have found a great new airline, if you're looking for a great comfortable and friendly airline, go with Aeromexico. The staff of the airplanes did a good work in general. The pilot of the CUN-MEX flight stepped out of the cabin to explain the reasons for the departure delay which was a nice gesture I have not seen in any other airline worldwide. That being said, the thing had a feeling very similar to the Mexican president daily briefings (mañaneras) and even almost equal to horrible trump ones (finger pointing briefings). Inside the aircraft, micro restrooms and micro table at your site (pic). The mechanical support is worn out and uneven. Not a single electric outlet or USB port on site, really in 2021? Volarís' checking counter staff offered free check in of carry ons to everyone in the plane. Then I tried to use my carry on space to place my back pack and was told "there is no overhead space (pic) please put it underneath the front seat now limiting my feet space. 2 min after the attendant told, now you can put your backpack up after I had occupied my space, buckled up and had my phone /headphones out. Question for Volaris staff: isn't it a better approach to allow passengers that volunteered their carry on, to use the space and be told "if we run out of space we may need to ask you to place....under the seat"? After all, it is a math situation (number of carry ons assuming each passenger is allowed one) that your staff may estimate fairly. In summary, the experience with Volaris makes it worth to pay some extra and fly Aeroméxico instead. read more

I will never book with this airline again. I made reservations June 25th for a flight next week. I was told luggage fee would be $45 at the time of reservation or at the airport . Today I called to ask a few questions regarding my itinerary etc and was told the luggage fee will be $60 per person over the phone and at the airport even higher but they did not know how much it would be. 1. Should have never been told $45 when they state now it's $60 2. Should have never been told $45 at the airport 3. Should have paid regular fare like I asked the rep if it was going to save money in the end 4. I then called spoke with an agent who said they would "listen" to the phone call and honor the price of that's what I was told . I have her the date and agents name she had me on hold for awhile. Then she came back on the line apologized and stated their was a special at the time and the computer did not allow her to make changes etc now. I then was upset and asked to speak with a supervisor. The supervisor told me the same thing I insisted and asked if they listened to the call she then said "no" another department does that. So she took my name and number and said someone would be in touch with me. Either way no one should have had me believing they were listening to my original call. I am confident in what I was told and know 100 percent in what I was told. I feel like they are acting in bad faith. I should have then paid a regular air fare because the cheaper fare with what they are charging is insulting. Hopefully someone makes good on this situation before I fly next week.
