We started our lunch outside, enjoying the sun and the view on Macau's nice terrace. Unfortunately, Mother Nature had other plans and it started to pour once we had started our mains. The staff was very friendly and moved all our dishes and drinks inside before anything got wet. In the end it wasn't too bad as the restaurant's decor is really cool. I really liked the origami graphic chart used throughout, from the menus to the toilet signs. But most importantly, the food was great! My salt & pepper soft shell crab was served on a nice salad. They were yummy and perfectly cooked. All my friends were also very satisfied with their dishes. If you are in the neighborhood, don't hesitate to stop by, you won't regret it !

It's one of my favorite beach areas and we stayed on the Tauranga side (not the Mount side). With two little kiddos, we were up early and went to The Strand area in search of coffee (and breakfast, but mostly coffee). It was proably a little before 8:00 am and there were no souls to be found, except at the Dry Dock. We noticed that it seemed to literally be the only place open in the few blocks that we walked around. I was looking for something with a water view, but I was desperate for some caffiene and, with nothing else open, these guys had us as their captive audience. The good news is, it all turned out good. Really good. The staff were friendly and accommodating. We asked for a high chair and they just about fell over themselves with happiness to provide it (we later learned that they had just bought one for the cafe and we were the lucky first users of it). Breakfast was yummy and there was plenty of the standard NZ type breakfast options available, in addition to the goodies in the bakery cabinet. My husband had some yummy French toast with bananas and bacon. I had the mueli, which to be fair was a little different than I expected, but still good. It had a lot of fresh fruit on it (apples, bananas, etc.) which was all fine and dandy, but not as much meusli itself. So, if you find yourself in Tauranga with a need for breakfast and/or coffee (at an hour, really) swing on by and I don't think you'll be disappointed.

What's not to like about $15 Tuesday's?…read more I arrived in Tauranga wanting to visit a well reviewed fish and chip place but they were closed due to n fish! I was disappointed until I came upon this patio. It has a prime part too location right across the street from the water. It was 2pm at the time and was very quiet. I settled with their menu which was on the pricier side. It was a welcomed surprise when the waitress said on tuesdays for all pizzas. I ordered the prosciutto ($24) and my husband ordered the chilli shrimp. ($26,50). The prosciutto pizza with rocket salad on top was well balanced while the shrimp one had everything on it including Italian sausage and capers. It all surprising came together well though my husband thought if was a bit of an overkill since the sausage and capers and chili overpowered the. shrimp. We agreed that we wouldn't have wanted to pay the regular price for the pizzas. Overall, I'd go back again for the nice setting and try whatever special they had that day.
