They are super organized and have their system down pat. Unless you want to uber or drive, just pay for the round-trip shuttle to and from Mexico City. This was such a cool experience! We went at the beginning of November, and it was super cold in the morning so wear a packable down jacket and long pants. Highly recommend this!

This was one of the best experiences I've ever had the pleasure of doing. A Hot air ballon ride is an absolute must once in your life and I'm thrilled I got to do it here in Mexico. Volare means to fly do the perfect name for this business! It's always an early start if you want to do this so 4am we were up and our pick up was a little late but we made it to the site in plenty of time to check in, have some coffee and wait if our name to be called. It was cool to watch them out the balloons up as we waited, you get to see the whole process . There is no lady like way of getting in the basket ! You hike yourself up and jump in! You have your designated ballon driver give you sone safety instructions and off you go. Such a cool, chill, experience. Over the ruins, you see the sunrise, and luckily wasn't too cold as the fire that keeps the balloon up kept us warm. It's about a 45 minute ride, a very serene time you have up there with lots of photo opportunities. Totally awesome. When you get back down, depending on how the wind directs you, ours wasn't too bumpy. You get a champagne toast at the end, which was cool. Then you get driven back to your original location of where you took off for a Mexican breakfast buffet and tequila shots! The food was really good as we were also starving, eggs, tortillas, bread, and cake, coffee and tea. Delicious! Then back on the bus to go back to our hotel. This is a must once in your lifetime!

The overall experience was nice from the welcome and registration to the end of the whole experience where they serve you breakfast with coffee and juices (and tequila shots if you were so inclined). There's also a mariachi band that provided entertainment. The only comment I have is that it was a cold morning. Having outside heaters would've helped keep the guests warm. Also, maybe because of COVID, there were not enough seats in the waiting room. The balloon ride lasted about 45 mins. It was serene and magnificent looking over the landscape and the pyramids. Make sure to bring a jacket and shoes you're prepared to get dirty. After the ride, we landed on a patch of dry land with dried grass, thigh-high, which we had to walk through to get to the bus that brought us back to the station. An overall wonderful experience which I highly recommend.

This was a last minute visit. We decided two days ago to go, thought it was super expensive, but in Napa, CA, you're paying like 3x the price. This place was really affordable and we had a whole ballon to ourselves! The lift off, the landing, and the whole way over the pyramid were super cool, we were like 20-30 feet from the pyramid, super close! Because of that, we didn't feel like we needed to go there since we got an aerial view of it. Our guide and operator was friendly. They sold us some masks and turtles made out of obsidian, said he made it himself, baloney, but we bought some, it was cool and cheaper than buying off eBay. Didn't realize this but they gave us a whole meal afterwards along with some shots! Cheap but it was nice. They offer some fruits and coffee too before the ride. It was so worth it.

Although I am afraid of heights, "when in Rome" kept coming to mind when I first started considering this excursion. If nothing else, the experience would make for a good Insta-story. This review is being posted a bit late because the actual ride occurred on 05/29/22. We stayed in the Polanco area of Mexico City, so we needed a version of this excursion with transportation to and from the flight location. Fast forward to the day before the trip, I received an email confirming the pickup time of 545am. I tried to message the driver on Whatsapp at the number in the confirmation email, but I never heard back. At about like 535am, I just went down to the lobby of my hotel and asked the hotel's concierge where these pickups happened. There were several other people in the vehicle and a few minutes later, we left to collect a few more couples. The driver's navigation to get these groups was a bit frantic and we ended up "looking" for the last group for about 15 minutes...reversing down the street about 3 blocks, circling the block multiple times, parking etc. After this nausea-inducing merry-go-round, we were off to the races-literally. Apparently, we were a bit behind schedule and we needed to make up time. As a result, the driver took off down the highway at a Nascar-style pace. Multiple times, I was in fear of the van flipping over and the squeaky shocks on the van did not help. Once we got to the "checkered flag" about 45 minutes later, we arrived at the flight grounds. Even at the beginning of summer, it was pretty cold in the morning and layers are HIGHLY recommended. We were greeted by English and Spanish check-in area with a small coffee/tea bar. Once you have a moment to use restroom facilities and grab your hot beverage, you are ushered outside to be matched with your flight group. With all the balloons inflating and murmur of the crowd, you have to pay close attention to your name being called for your group. We were then directed to our balloon and the pilot introduced herself. We boarded, she gave us a small safety drill and off we went. Here's where all of the death-defying twists and turns from the drive earlier pays off. We were treated to great views and angles. We landed about 30-35 minutes later and we were greeted by vendors selling souvenirs. If I were you, I would wait to purchase these trinkets, especially if you plan on visiting the pyramids later in the day. (more explanation about this in a bit) We were loaded back into a van at the landing spot and ushered back to the check-in area. You are provided with a simple breakfast (eggs, chilaquiles, beans, fruit, orange juice/coffee) and serenaded by a traditional mariachi band. They even offered a tequila shot to warm you up. The balloon pilot came by to drop off your flight certificate and we gave her a small tip for a great ride. After breakfast, you are given the opportunity to travel back to your hotel (in Mexico City) or to go onto the pyramids site. If you choose to stay, you are given about 3-3.5 hours to look through the pyramid site. If you are tired and need a nap, keep this is in mind. **NOTE** At this dropoff site, you were given the option to tour the site with a guide...this person proclaimed to have extensive knowledge of the site and the cost was approximately $30 USD (if memory serves me) to usher you through the site. We declined this service and set out on the tour alone. We did, however, have to pay a nominal fee to enter the site, again, if memory serves me, it was no more than $3-$5 USD to enter. You will encounter MULTIPLE vendors selling essentially the same souvenirs. Hold out till you have seen several vendors unless something really jumps out at you for its uniqueness. If you do fancy something, you definitely should negotiate and take PESOS, this will really help. Close to the museum on the site, there are vendors in covered stalls which seem to have the best of the souvenirs, so wait to buy trinkets, if you don't want to carry them around all day. At the end of the pyramid tour time, please ensure that you are back at the pickup location (the original point where you were dropped after breakfast) on time. There was still a bit of confusion about the return driver and the pickup was a little late. After a warm day in the sun and miles of walking, it was a little annoying that we were not underway on time. Alas, the trip back was much calmer, at a normal speed and we arrived back at the hotel safely. So, here's a summation: **Book early and meet the driver on time at your hotel **Pack layers, sunglasses, a face cloth and sunscreen **Bring pesos for souvenirs and tipping **If you don't want to tour the pyramids, ask personnel at the check-in location about how you can return to CDMX after the breakfast **Don't wear your favorite shoes because of dirt at the site **Pack your patience because communication on the day of the flight may be minimal

If you've never done it, flown in an air balloon, it's a must do. HOWEVER, don't be fooled by the fact that they sell you the trip by making you think you're going over the pyramids. Not!!! They can't control the steering so you go as the wind goes and today, the wind went opposite the pyramids! Thank God we did the pyramid tour the day before otherwise, bye bye pyramids. Afterwards they give you a light breakfast and a toast for the ride.

We got to book this experience through a package on Viator and TripAdvisor by a company called "epic journey". "Epic Journey" additionally provided private transportation and a private tour through the UNESCO archeological site. Anyway - I'm writing this review for this hot air balloon company because they were very professional and pilot Francisco provided us with a smooth ride over the grounds. Even the landing was perfect as they had a team of several people to receive us and they helped us touch down smoothly. It was amazing to experience the precision that they executed to give us this experience. If you don't understand Spanish, you may not understand the tips the pilot may say over the course of the flight; however English speaking staff helped us feel prepared for the journey before we set flight. I'm not exactly sure how to book them directly, but I'm glad that I was able to seek out this activity through "Epic Journey" on TripAdvisor and Viator. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity.

This experience was part of a package I booked with viator courtesy of Paseos Olmedos. Part of the tour included this VIP experience of riding a hot air balloon at early dawn over the archeological zone which included a private tour and entry of the area where the pyramids are and personal guide Mr. Misael Olmedo himself. The hot air balloon experience was wonderful. The complex where you start offers free snacks and coffee and has several instagram worthy photo areas before you board to take flight. This experience was about an hour away from Mexico City and started at our hotel for pick up around 4-5 in the morning. Truly worth waking up early. I never thought I would be courageous enough to ride a hot air balloon was so glad I did. The flight lasted about 45 minutes and goes from way up high to very close down low near the pyramids and ends with a celebratory champagne toast at the end. Anyone who has ever wanted to ride a hot air balloon should do so and this location is said to rival as one of the best in the world to do so boasting a scenery unlike anywhere in the world.

You ride with other people who will be in the same basket as you. Our driver, Fabian, was nice and chatty. Once we arrived, we checked in with a representative while the hot air balloon crew prepared our ride. They also provided light snacks, coffee, and tea, which was all included with the package. It can also be very cold depending on the time of the year, so make sure to bring extra layers to stay warm. We flew over the countryside and the pyramids of Teotihuacán, which was breathtaking. Seeing the pyramids from above gave a different perspective compared to being on the ground. The sunrise added to the experience and made the views more memorable. The ride was originally suppose to last 30 minutes, but our pilot extended it to 45 minutes. The landing was smooth and wasn't rocky, which made the experience feel safe. Once we hopped off the basket, we were given a certificate for flying and celebrated with an apple cider toast. Once everything wrapped up, a shuttle van took us back to the main check-in area. All in all, it was an incredible experience that I would highly recommended to anyone visiting CDMX!

Y'all... this is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My friend and I wanted to do a hot air balloon experience,…read moreand we decided on this one of the many options. We booked through their website and chose a package with transportation. The driver (who was awesome!) sent me a message on WhatsApp the night before to confirm details, and he met us in the morning; it was just in his car, and he drove us to the site. (I did see some others come from vans with multiple groups.) We hung out while the balloons got prepared (there are restrooms you can use while waiting!). It was so fun to see the balloons get larger and larger. When called, we hopped into our balloon. There were five areas in the balloon. Four that could each hold two guests, and then one in the middle for the pilot and supplies. Before we knew it, we were off to see the early morning from the skies!!! We flew over the pyramids and saw the most beautiful views--in a sky with so many hot air balloons. Wow! What a sight to be seen. Once we were chillin' up there, we popped some bubbly. It was seriously SOOOOO awesome up there, and it wasn't scary at all!!! After lots of time for photos and enjoying the views, it was time to land. Our pilot and the ground team were so wonderful! They landed us perfectly on the trailer, and we got out. We got our certificates and could give a tip at that time. Then we got in a van and went back to where the balloons took off front. There, they were selling photo and video packages. We skipped these, but if you had the money, they would like them, they would be cool! Then we got back in the car and were taken to a breakfast buffet at a restaurant nearby. Omg. This place was THE BOMB. There was SO MUCH FOOD. WOW!!!! And the staff was SOOOOOO friendly and helpful in figuring out what to eat and how to eat it. Like, I loved them so much and wanted to go back regularly. I suggest bringing cash to tip them as well. After that, we got back in the car and headed to the Teotihuacán site. We spent maybe an hour taking photos and wandering around. Our amazing driver gave us instructions on the best way to explore (basically taking a lap around). It was really surreal to see places I never imagined seeing in real life. Finally, we got back in the car one last time to head back to where we were staying in Mexico City. We were exhausted, but it was cool to drive through the mountains and see what we weren't able to see in the dark of the early morning. We tipped our driver, and we then crashed for a bit before the next adventure. ;) All in all, this was the coolest thing I did when visiting Mexico City. I loved the entire experience. If you can make it happen, do it!!!!!!!

We were fortunate to have Alan (English guide) and Alex (Spanish guide), and our driver was Francisco. Alan was an excellent guide; his emphatic and impassioned presentation style was filled with a great many historical and informational items, and both his accent and annunciation made it very easy to follow. Although I recommend this tour, there were a few drawbacks as well. First, I wish we had not bought the lunch to be included. Although the restaurant itself was a very nice space, and included entertainment, the ($31-$33) buffet was lackluster at best. Yes, plenty of choices, plenty of food, but none of it exceptional, or really very good either (street vendor food would have been better). The challenge, however, is that there is NOT another place to buy food (the bus takes you to their; the tour's, partner restaurant so that it is the only place to eat. Some of the other menu items were likely tastier than the buffet. Adjoining the restaurant (behind it) is an area where you "learn" about obsidian, types of tequila & Mezcal, silver, and local hand-crafts. The "presentations" are fun (enough), but yes, this is a stop where they hope you will buy items. For many, this is an opportunity to buy souvenirs, but my wife and I found that this greatly cut into the time we would have much rather spent exploring Teotihuacan. Overall the pacing of the Tour was well planned out. Traffic in/around Mexico City is NOTHING like you have ever experienced before, so it's nearly impossible for the Tour to always go 100% as planned. My advice is to bring patience, things for comfort (bottled water, sun screen, rain jacket, etc.), as it was a 10 hour (yes TEN HOUR) Excursion. We were in good hands with Amigo Tours with this one, but the next day (also with Amigo), we had a very different and not as good Tour elsewhere. Out of five stars, I'd rate this tour at a solid 3.5.
