My husband and I both loved this place. A local suggested it and we could not have been any happier…read morewith our choice. The service was good and the food, oh my their food. It was my first time having garlic soup and WOW Their choice for "Menu del dia" (menu of the day) was also attractive. We saw a lot of people opting for that. We had some wine, a delicious piece of ternera with potatoes, some homemade croquettes and orange pie I think was the name. YUMMY thats all I can say.
Vegans and vegetarians - If you don't already know, your options are limited in this part of Spain…read more Here is one restaurant in the Plaza Mayor that has a couple of good options for you. First - I recommend the paella de verduras. It's made with artichoke hearts, green beans, fava beans, sweet peppers, carrots and cauliflower. Keep in mind - like all good paella - portions are substantial and wait time is 15+ minutes as it's made from scratch. Price €12.50. Flavor was fantastic! Veggies had a smoky flavor and the dish was quite rich. This is worth coming in for, particularly if you're looking for something warm and filing on a cold day (we were here over Christmas break). My 9 year-old ordered the sandwich vegetal - white toast with mixed lettuce, tomato, white onion, and asparagus. Vegans take note - leave off the thousand island dressing. Price €6.50 (and you get fries). My son let me try a bite of his sandwich and I really dug it. More of a lunch item for me - but he was happy to have something other than a veggie burger. Since we didn't get the thousand island it was a bit dry for me. Overall - great food quality, great service, cool environment (but warm inside on a December day).

The lunch special was generous and offered three substantial portions. The tagliatelle starter was a hit, excellent creamy red pesto sauce. The Castilian soup is a local dish--a bit heavy and salty, but could make for a nice hearty treat on a cold day. The main dishes were great. Some minor issues with seasoning, but overall enjoyed the food. The salmon needed a hit of citrus and the cheesecake dessert didn't have the best texture. Overall a great deal for lunch and a great local experience. The decor is rustic and welcoming, giving you the hit of Spain you needed when you booked your trip.

The menu includes many meat-forward dishes, but when we asked about non-meat options, our server suggested a few. We chose the artichokes served with mashed potatoes, a scallop (in-shell) and sautéed mushrooms. Good. We also ordered the vegetable lasagna (pumpkin/squash, chestnut, mushrooms, and romesco sauce). It was an interesting take on lasagna, but we should have known given we were in Spain. Rounded off our lunch with a glass of cava and a red wine. Was a good quiet spot to have lunch.
