This Samsung store is one of the only stores of its' kind I've seen from the Samsung brand, and it…read moreis quite a large, amazing store because of it. This is called a Samsung Experience store, due to the amount of different Samsung products they have on offer, through some sort of chair to TV's and smart phones and their flagship Samsung Galaxy phones. I really liked this store, having very little interaction with Samsung products in the past and the whole concept of this store is excellent and quite rare to find in other Samsung stores, who based on past experience often have much poorer and smaller stores, as is the case in my hometown of Manchester. Despite being a huge Apple fan, I did like the new S8+ model, and liked how they made the demo model easier to see the key features such as a rather innovative and niche iris scanner. The staff around the store, of course, seemed friendly, and of course, the overall vibe was good, they also seemed to be a satisfactory yet not excellent selection of accessories, however the accessories selection as a whole, didn't compare to the selection, choice and quantity which one would find in an Apple Store. For the Samsung brand, this store is impressive, but overall it is just a very good store, and despite some flaws such as the overall building not standing out in terms of being modern, like most of the tech here, and other factors, perhaps a slight lack of information on some factors and not a range of accessories of which I'd call fantastic, I feel this store isn't perfect yet still has done enough to earn a four-star rating.

Just installled the yelp app specifically so I could leave a good review. The man in Maplin…read moreyesterday nr Newcastle town centre was so helpful and knowledgeable. I had a fairly complicated problem with projector/speaker connections and he didnt try to sell me the most expensive solution and worked out what i had been figuring out for days in a couple of minutes. Very impressed with the approach to customer service! Highly recommended chain of shops! Have had good experiences in London shops too. Will be returning frequently!
Maplins is the exception to the rule of high street chain electronic goods shops. The people that…read morework there actually have a clue what's going on. They have massive stock and an even bigger stock of components that I would have usually ordered from the internet, in this case, a laser diode, and they could give me the advice that I needed without anyone having to water things down too much. The staff are also very friendly, and its a pleasant shop to just stroll around and do some window shopping!
Currys is a useful addition to the Metrocentre, as with their "mall" locations, they are generally…read moresmaller than their out-of-town warehouse locations, often based in retail parks, but the location within a shopping centre, means they're easily accessible - just hope you don't have to drag a TV through the mall! The store is decent, well laid out and has a good selection of electronics including laptops and TVs. It follows the new Currys branding and is fairly modern inside. TIP: The store closes at 8 pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, which is one hour earlier than most other shops within Metrocentre during the week, so you might want to visit here first if planning a visit. I did find the selection of certain brands including Apple to be limited, it seems they're trying to show a staple of brands they stock here, perhaps to guide you to the manufacturer's own stores or Curry's larger locations or website. A more compact version of the Currys brand, yet in a convenient location within a large shopping centre in Meadowhall. I do prefer their larger warehouse stores, but this isn't a bad alternative if you're passing through. 3*

I used this company to replace the element in my oven. To do so they had to disassemble and remove…read morethe fan and then replace the whole assembly. This appeared to be a difficult operation and took a great deal of manual force to carry out. The actual 'hands on' work was performed by one man, who appeared to be inexperienced. An older man ( the proprietor)was observing him and giving him verbal instruction throughout. Immediately upon using the oven for the first time after this, the fan created a terrible rattle. Prior to the element being replaced, the fan had been fully functional, quiet and efficient. I contacted the company and, to their credit, the proprietor attended promptly to assess the problem. He examined the oven and informed me that there was a problem with the fan 'thrust valve' and that the fan would have to be replaced. I advised him that it had been fine prior to the element replacement and that any damage caused could only have been as a result of the engineers intervention. He admitted that there were problems getting the fan out, but denied responsibility for any damage, became very defensive and stated that he was not prepared to replace the fan at his cost. He would only fit a fan if I bought one from him, which I refused to do. He then packed up his tools and left my house, refusing to talk to me. My husband visited his premises shortly afterwards his opinion is that the proprietor was rude, sarcastic and unreasonable. I find this to be a terrible example of customer service and I would not recommend either the quality of the workmanship or customer service.
