You tell them what you want and they do all the work for you. (Full buffet, flowers, music, pictures, etc). I was the MC at the reception and they made it very easy for me. They gave me an outline for the reception and it included all of the timing for when things had to happen. The D.J. and photographer were supplied by them and both were very professional and accommodating. Also, the Room Captain for Newlands communicated very well with me so that everything flowed smoothly. The whole operation was problem free and was handled very professionally.

Unfortunately, our experience after booking was extremely disappointing and ultimately led us to cancel. After paying our deposit, we were informed of significant photography restrictions that had never been disclosed beforehand. We were told group photos would need to be taken off-site -- or, in Newlands' own words, that the available on-site "spots" were not nice locations. This was surprising, as we had specifically asked about photography during our initial visit and were only told the golf course was off-limits. We were also only informed after booking that the gazebo becomes part of the Conservatory room immediately after our ceremony and is no longer accessible. Instead, we were told we would need to fit the entire ceremony and group photos into a 40-minute slot. When we raised concerns that this would feel rushed, we were told "this is what everyone else does." Despite clearly stating we had our own photographer, there was continued emphasis on using Newlands' in-house photographer and studio, which felt dismissive given we had intentionally booked a summer wedding for outdoor photos. As a result, we were forced to significantly amend what we had envisioned for our day, including potentially moving guests off-site -- something we had specifically tried to avoid. When we raised concerns and proposed solutions, there was little willingness to compromise. When we mentioned cancelling, we were simply sent a cancellation form with no attempt to discuss or resolve the issue. We then requested escalation to a Sales Director, but after two weeks and multiple follow-ups, we received no contact, only being told it had been "passed on." While this may seem minor from a venue perspective, it was a key part of our decision. The lack of transparency, flexibility, and communication ultimately led us to lose confidence in Newlands. It's unfortunate, as the venue itself is beautiful, but our experience left us feeling that customer care and transparency fell well below expectations.

But my mother wanted a slightly more elaborate wedding than I would have planned, and I was in an unfamiliar city, and having trouble finding resources. She helped me pull the wedding together in two months, with a very satisfactory price tag in the end. Now I think that if you can find a good wedding planner to work with, nearly every wedding should have a wedding planner. After all it's a fairly complicated event, with so many things that can go wrong; and by definition the couple planning the wedding usually have little experience with planning weddings. First, Angela is an enthusiastic, down to earth, sensible, real person. I got the impression from other interviews I did that among event planners, these are valuable and somewhat uncommon traits. Still, of course, she's got that glamorous side. She's amazingly effective, with a great sense of style of her own, and also very able to work with your style. She's well connected and excellent at digging up new resources, including those with good prices. She takes your budget seriously, and with her ability to comparison shop you get more bang for your buck. I really do believe that the money she saved us paid for her fee, and of course her help went far beyond resource and bargain-finding. Absolutely worth it. My only complaint was that she was stretching herself a little thin. I would have rather paid more, and gotten more of her undiluted focus and energy. But that was in retrospect--of course when we first hired her we were skeptical of the whole thing, and her affordable fee was reassuring. Also if you can hire your wedding planner further in advance of your wedding than we did, I'm sure that would make everything smoother! Our wedding was a fantastic, fun experience--not everyone can say that--and it was in large part thanks to Angela.

My boyfriend had booked through Manprit for our friends wedding in Jamaica. With the months leading…read moreup to the trip he was diagnosed with a severe condition. We communicated everything to Manprit with the worry that he may not be fit to fly. She let us know that a reimbursement could happen and also requested a dr note that he did fulfill for her from his specialist. She continued to take the rest of the payment from him. So here we are, months and months of chasing her through emails looking for an answer and being ignored to the point where I had to find her on Facebook to get a reply. He's been on leave from work and especially during these financially trying times, you can imagine the stress. She continues to point the finger at WestJet when I've spoken to them on numerous accounts and they've confidently let me know no refunds are issued through them but to be discussed with the travel agent. Unfortunately we made a rookie mistake and didn't get everything in writing (some conversations were had over the phone) but who would think you'd get screwed over like this. Bottom line, Manprit I expect some type of integrity from a women who owns her own business. This isn't how it's done, It's down right criminal what you're doing. Be a women of your word. Can't speak to her wedding planning half but guests tread with caution when dealing with her.

If you do not want to be…read morestressed out by your wedding planner, Tanya (owner of Milestone Events), I'll suggest you only hire her on the day of and do not sign up for the wedding planning package! My wedding was on June 18, 2011. We hired the owner, Tanya, to be our wedding planner at the end of 2010. I had really bad experiences from this company. I hope my feedback can help bride-to-be. Below is the list of my experiences. 1. Every vendors, including herself (decoration & wedding invitations etc.) cost way more than what you can find outside. Our wedding package includes vendor referal/negotiation, but we did not use any vendors she suggested and ended up hiring all the vendors ourselves. 2. Tanya disappeared few times! The last time she disappeared was the most serious one. Few weeks before the wedding day is the most stressful period for a bride. We've been trying to email her and call her more than 10 times, but got ZERO response at all for 2 weeks! We sent out a final email that threatened her we will seek for legal action against her company if she took our payment and does not want to do her job. She called me back next day and told me her dog dead etc etc. We all know they're the excuses as she's been doing throughout the year. We paid her and did most of the wedding planning ourselves. In order to find her, it stressed me out even more. 3. We had the rehearsal one week before the wedding day. She was half an hour late! She came with the t-shirt and sweat pant. Very unprofessional! On the wedding day, Tanya and her team were not bad. If you really want to hire her, just hire her for the wedding day. Don't waste your money and energy to hire her for wedding planner or you'll end of doing everything by yourself.

She probably doesn't even know that yet cause she never replies or responds to any emails texts or phone calls ... She randomly will contact you out of the blue a month after she stands you up at a mtg stating she is on vacation but here if we needed anything .. OK ?!? Where were you last month when you didn't show to our mtg? ...she was full of excuses when she said she sent the itinerary - for 2.5 months delayed. She stressed us out as a couple since day 1 ( we originally hired another colleague but she then left the company, then we got handed over to tanya) after a few meetings we realized she was all talk.. No professionalism ..when we would finally get to meet with her in her office all the way out in Langley she sit there asking us repeated questions (prob cause she wasnt paying attn while twittering or fb on her phone)and then contradicting herself from 1 mtg to the next .. I came to think she might have "issues" After the last missed mtg - with no phone call or text or (she confirmed 2 days prior) we finally had it ... DO NOT HIRE her ..she will stress you out and I couldn't have imagined her behaviour of constant absence - and pulling disappearing acts right before the wedding .. The only thing she managed to do for us was save us 750 from the final payment we would have wasted on her --- but she still has 750 of our deposit - I heard of another bride that had this happen as well(through some vendors) .. and I feel there probably are more -- 10 brides 10 deposits - 7000 pretty nice paychq for doing nothing ! Can't even reply to a simple phone call .honest opinion and don't care if she would have showed up on the day , not worth pulling your hair out and stressing if she will actually show- ....disgruntled b&g (placed wedding date as day of cancelation) best decision made
