I arrived last night to a frigid home. Searching Yelp and other sources for a local electrician, i decided to call VLD. I left a message at 3:50 AM. Vito called me at 7:15 and by 8:00 this morning his two technicians were here. The problem was likely due to a failed relay that controls much of my home's heating. The technicians, Bob and Brian, checked the line, etc. and found that a simple repair of a couple of poor connections was all that was needed rather than replacing the relay unit. This saved me about $200 vs. replacing the relay. They easily could have simply dropped in a new unit and charged more, but instead provided honest, professional service. My wife and I used VLD to replace light fixtures and ceiling fans in our home. We reached out to several contractors for the job which involved high ceiling installation of lights and fans. VLD was great to work with from the onset. They were one of two companies who took the time to bid on the job and were $1300 less than the other bid we received from an equally well reviewed company. I was able to send pictures of the job to get a quote. Ray and Melvin came out, and although the job was larger than anticipated they still came in at the range given for the job estimate. Both guys did a fantastic job installing, and figuring out fixes for unexpected roadblocks. I set up an appointment and Brian was right on time, which was important to me because I had to go to work and could not sit around the house all day waiting for someone. After a tree fell on my wires, PPL restored power but the damage was done. Half my electric was still out. Vito and VLD came highly recommended from my builder. One call, and Vito came right out. He accessed the issue, made an immediate fix for my hot water, and then came back the very next morning and fully restored all the issues. I will say this. VLD responded fast and the work that was completed was done to my satisfaction. One of the issues I had requested they look at was my circuit breaker tripping when I used the microwave. The VLD said that I needed a dedicated line for the microwave and he didn't open the panel box up to take a look. I had the house 20 years and the microwave is only 900 watts and this problem just started happening. There is really nothing else on that circuit except for some kitchen lighting. Not happy with that answer I contacted another electrician. He came and promptly removed the panel cover and said here the problem. You have a loose wire not making proper contact. He reconnected the wire and I have not had an issue in a month since he was here. Even though VLD did the rest of the work to my satisfaction I would really have to think twice about hiring them again. This cost me another service call for a problem that should have been resolved when VLD was here. read more

These guys are fantastic. Brian and Bob showed up on time, were polite and extremely knowledgeable. We recently purchased a 40+ year-old mountain home and the bathroom vents were installed on the shower walls. Rather than get electrocuted while showering, we opted to have new ones installed in the proper place in our bathrooms. Brian and Bob took a look at the layout, knew precisely where to install the new fans in relation to where the wiring likely ran and as I was told in advance prior to starting the job (both at scheduling time and on-site), would have to cut a small additional hole in the drywall ceiling to feed the exhaust, since we have no attic access. They found exactly where the existing wiring ran, did very clean work, replaced the drywall after they cut access and cleaned up everything. I will have to spackle the repair but that was told to me in advance so no surprise there. The price was very competitive and they even gave me a discount since I purchased my own fans, as they quoted me for supplying the equipment.
