DO NOT DO IT. They NEVER pick up on time. They NEVER take all the trash or recycling they are supposed to. They skip weeks and weeks and weeks with no communication or they lie and say your trash will be picked up and then you don't take it to the dump and it accumulates. DO NOT USE VIXSTER. You will be consistently frustrated and left with weeks of uncollected garbage. They pick up on time about 50% of the time. They skip multiple weeks without communication. They regularly go two weeks or even longer without picking it up. When you email, call, or text, they will tell you your trash will be picked up next week, and then it accumulates. Now you're sitting on weeks' worth of trash, which invites critters. Sometimes, when you call to say you had a missed pick up, they say their hauler said they picked up -- it feels like they are accusing you of lying about your missed pick up. If they only miss one week, I have given up on filling out their "missed pickup" form online because no one responds. Once you have two weeks of missed pick ups, I will call or text to get an update. It has now been three weeks since they last picked up. I've received multiple days where they say they will make it up, and those dates go by without any pickup or update by email, phone, or text -- I have to contact them to ask what happened. The consistent message you get from Vixster is that their hauler has issues with their vehicle. They do not have the bench strength to manage their routes if someone is out. Vixster seems more interested in expanding its service area than taking care of its current accounts. They make it very difficult for you to get out of the auto-payment subscription. You get radio silence whenever you ask about getting out of the subscription. Please do not go with Vixster unless you want to pay for someone else to take your trash every week, and then you have to take it yourself to the dump 50% of the time. read more

They keep charging quarterly, despite them not supposed to be having credit card info on file, and even well after stopping service. The only way to stop them is through your credit card company. Service is fair at best, and rates rise without prior notice. **This is such a bad company, they had to delete their Google Profile and start over because they had so many bad reviews** They were good for about 1.5 years, but once we needed actual help and actual customer service, we were ghosted. Vixster missed a week of trash pick up during our busiest rental period around the holidays. We called and were told that the snow delayed pick up this week - fine I get that. Well 2 days went by and still no pick up. Call again and they tell us the trash team will be out in 2 days - nothing. Our garbage coral starts to fill up after new years and guests are complaining about trash. The following week pick up date passes, still no trash pick up. We call to cancel and they tell us they will cancel our service and refund us the remainder of our prepaid amount. Great. Customer service asks us to give the billing department 5-10 business days to do so. Sounds good, I can understand that. TWO MONTHS later, still no refund or peep from them. I even see on my Ring camera a random trash guy coming occasionally on Wednesdays. I call and ask them what they are doing and that we cancelled. Same customer service agent says he will note on our account of cancellation. Fast Forward another month and I see a CHARGE from Vixster for the upcoming 6 months. Vixster knows that they mostly operate in communities with few other options for trash removal, so they can do a bad job and still get business. We've had a couple of incidents where they were late getting our trash, and recently they decided to only do recycling pick up once a month but still charge the same rate. These things were annoying, but we kept the service. About a month ago, my husband forgot to put out the trash. We generally don't have a lot of trash, so it wasn't a huge deal. Later that day, we realized the guy had come into our garage (it was open, but our driveway is kind of long and the garage is on the back of our house) and taken the trash. I didn't love the idea of him coming into our house without letting us know, but I knew he was just trying to be nice, so I let it go. About a day later, I realized a huge bag of clothes and baby supplies was missing from our basement (which is attached to the garage). My husband quickly realized what had happened. Even though the bag was nowhere near the trash, the guy had taken that bag as well, probably assuming it was trash for some reason. At this point, I was no longer OK with just letting it go. I called customer service and was told that it's policy for drivers to come into customers' houses to take trash if they don't leave it out. I explained that the bag of clothes wasn't even near the trash and that I wasn't OK with what had happened. The customer service rep told me he'd look into the issue, and that was the end of the conversation. He didn't even apologize on behalf of the company. I asked him what the company would do to compensate, and he said he'd have to let me know after he looked into it. It's been more than a month, and I haven't heard anything back. I'm not surprised. We've had questions in the past and haven't been able to talk with customer service or get them to return our calls. I spent quite a long time speaking to them about the requirements of their service policy. I was told to separate the recycle into clear bags and the trash in white bags. So, I did! I even put the recycle in separate bins, paper, plastic and cans...etc. Took me 2.5 hours. The driver, a young kid shows up, picks up the trash and leaves the recycle. Now I have to go do what they were hired to do. Fired them first day! Cancelled and will never look back. I think they need my education and training? Beware of this company!!!! From my perspective I would strongly recommend going with a different company. Vixster has a strict policy of only taking trash that is in a bag. If you put a loose pizza box, a wine bottle, or a plastic container in the can they will not take it. This is a particularly difficult policy to enforce if you rent out your property. They do not use a traditional garbage truck. It is someone with a pick up, they grab the bags out of the can, and put it in the bed of their truck. So, I understand why they have this policy, but it just does not work for us. We signed up in March and have had multiple issues where they don't take the trash so we pay someone else to come put it in a bag. Even if there are three bags on the bottom, but their is a pizza box on top, they leave everything behind. Also, they do not advise you it was left behind, so if you do rent, and are not their consistently it can build up over time. It is now July and have decided we need to switch to a different company. We found ASAP Site Services that uses a traditional garbage truck so this will no longer be an issue. We asked Vixster to cancel our service and issue a prorated refund for the 7 months they will no longer need to service us. They stated they do not issue any refunds once service started. We chose to pay the full year up front and they think it is fair to keep the full amount even though they won't have to do anything for the last 7 months. We believe this is an unfair policy and there are no contracts where we agreed to this. I highly recommend you think about what type of garbage service you want before using Vixster. Don't think I've ever posted a review of anything, but this is important: don't use this service. 0/5 stars. They began fairly well a few years ago, but these days, missed pick-ups and an abject lack of communication are the norm--not the exception. My issue isn't that some weeks are skipped due to weather, car issues, etc. I understand that those things happen from time to time. It's that no one ever reaches out to explain or reschedule, and no one answers phone calls or emails. I've been patient and given them chances to right the ship. We had great service for 5 years, but in the last few months, Vixster's service and communication has been terrible. We pay for weekly service and our trash has only been picked up 3 times in the last 7 weeks. They have promised us a refund for the weeks missed and have not followed through. They have promised a phone call from management and have not followed through. They have promised an email from the accounts department and they have not followed through. At this point all we want is a refund and to cancel our service and we can not get a response. Vixster routinely no shows on our pick up days. We went weeks with no trash hauled so garbage was piled outside our rental cabin. They are never available by phone and don't respond to emails or return voicemails. The rare times I have gotten Ahold of someone they are rude and still don't show up on the promises rescheduled date. I cancelled our service over a month ago and they still charged my credit card for the upcoming quarter. Of course no one is answering my calls so I now have to dispute with my bank. Took them 4 months to find my driveway and trashcans, they often took my neighbors trash instead of mine, cannot get anyone to answer the phone without calling 4+ times, and after asking for my subscription to be cancelled multiple times they still charged my credit card for another year of service. Found out through my realtor that their truck broke down. They never bothered to let me know, never showed back up then charged my credit card $463. Never sent an invoice explaining charges. I currently rent an apartment that uses Vixster and I would recommend that anyone with a choice choose anything else. I would rather personally drive all of my trash to a dump in Hickory than continue using Vixster in Boone. Not only do they only take bags and leave everything else, but if the top bag has an obvious hole in it from an animal they will take that bag and stroll trash all over the yard and leave it. But if there's a singular small unbagged item on top of any bag (like a cardboard box), everything below it gets left. They are also incredibly unprofessional and display political signs on their vehicles and loudly complain about the tenants while taking their trash. It is the most high-maintenance trash company that I've ever even heard of. Absolute 0/10, this is a useless company. PS. this is about Boone, NC but idk how to update the location. I didn't have any problems with Vixster for the first two years. Once or twice they did not pick up on the scheduled day but came when I notified them. The past 6 months they have missed my pick up several times the most recent being 5 pick ups in a row. Each time I called they apologized for the inconvenience and then it would happen again the next time. I called today to cancel my services because my recycling and trash are still in my driveway from not being picked up three days ago and was told they do not refund based on the contract I signed. I signed that contract expecting them to hold up to their responsibilities. If the contract said we have the right to not pick up your trash/recycling as many times as we wish but you still have to pay, I would not have signed it. It's pretty simple: Vixster will take your money, but not your trash. I signed-up by paying for one-year in advance. Almost immediately, Vixster started missing pick-up days. I asked to review my account for any credits, but they will not show me my account status. I asked to have my credit card removed from all payment features, but they will not remove my card. I'm at the end of my rope with Vixster. This week I filed complaints with the Better Business Bureau, my credit card company, and the North Carolina Attorney General's Office.
