London has an eclectic mix of everything, not only culturally but also creatively. Vitra, is a hot box of contemporary furniture design. It is playful, it is alive, it colourful and it makes sense in a non sensical manner.
Vitra caters from the micro to he macro, at home, for the office and public space. In their showroom in Clerkenwell you can find a bit of everything. Specially attractive are the children's Eames Elephant (1945), its original version was made in plywood and never made it to mass production; Vitra have now done it in plastic and can reach a larger audience, it is designed for children but it makes an excellent conversation starter decoration at home.
And just for fun, the purple living tower (1960) is so cool! Living landscapes were one of the major themes of sixties design, organically shaped furniture sculpture can be used on four levels, it is very comfortable contrary to what it may look like.
