My father was a resident at the Atria for just under two years. While the staff were all incredibly…read morekind, the overall care he received was wildly unacceptable. To start off, from the moment you walked in, there was an overwhelming smell of urine and feces in the facility. In regards to my father specifically, his hygiene was clearly neglected--his hair was always greasy, his teeth progressed to a brown tint, and his nails were caked with what appeared to be his own feces. We repeatedly requested for him to receive haircuts: prepaid for such services, made appointments but it was only followed through by continuous reminding from us. During visits, his room was always dirty with most of his clothes stuffed into his laundry bin, leaving very few clean options available. Towards the end, his room was always locked. I thought that was really bizarre and unusual. In the moment, I was just so excited to see my father that I didn't investigate further, but I assume it's because they wanted to limit exposure of how filthy his living quarters were. We ultimately moved my father due to the ever increasing cost of the atria and the dissatisfaction we had with the facility. While packing up his room we discovered that every piece of his furniture was completely saturated in his own feces - hidden by a bed sheet and waterproof pee-pad. On his first day at the new care home, the staff gave him a thorough cleaning and informed us that his skin, particularly around his buttocks, was covered in hardened feces and pressure wounds. While, at the atria, they informed us that my father was incontinent, of which they had him in diapers 24 seven. At his new facility, they learned that my father was absolutely capable of going to the restroom independently, he simply had to be guided to the location of the restroom and reminded to try- which leads me to believe that the staff at the atria simply did not want to take the extra time needed to care for my father's basic needs. Six weeks after leaving the Atria, my father passed away from septic shock due to a UTI - my dad suffered with Alzheimer's, so the symptoms that would present from a UTI were hard to recognize given the circumstances of his mental status. While I can't prove it, I strongly believe that the Atrias complete disregard for his hygiene played a role in his decline with sepsis. So yes, the staff may be kind, but for what they charge, the level of care is disgracefully inadequate. I don't think it's an issue of intentional abuse, it's an issue of being completely understaffed to take care of the residents they house. Looking back, I regret not documenting everything with photographs as evidence. At the time, I simply held onto hope that despite this difficult period, his wellbeing would improve in the new facility. However, I believe the negligent care he received at Atria ultimately contributed to his untimely passing I share my personal experience with Atria not for personal gain, but in the hope that by speaking out, I can help prevent other families from enduring what mine has

The caregivers are attentive, patient, and always willing to help, and the communication with families is excellent. It gives great peace of mind knowing that loved ones are in such capable and compassionate hands. The staff at Oakmont of Valencia are one of the best parts of the community. Everyone from the caregivers to the front desk to the dining staff is friendly, professional, and welcoming. They take the time to get to know the residents personally, and it really feels like a community rather than just a facility. You can tell the staff truly enjoy what they do, and it shows in the way they interact with residents every day. The food is also exceptional. The meals are restaurant-quality with a lot of variety, and the dining room feels more like a nice restaurant than an assisted living facility. The presentation, quality, and service are all excellent, and dining is something residents can really look forward to each day. Overall, Oakmont of Valencia is a beautiful, well-run assisted living community with excellent care, wonderful staff, and great food. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for assisted living in the Santa Clarita area.

Figuring out how to best take care of my elderly father after he fell and broke his hip was overwhelming to say the least. Admittedly, Humble Haven was farther away from me, and my dad's doctor, than I had hoped for or planned. But a placement agent sang their praises --- and choosing Humble Haven was the best decision I ever made. Truly. The place itself is wonderful: Clean, comfy, and staffed with amazing caregivers who are truly patient and compassionate. The meals are all freshly made and tasty and nutritious. Personal taste and preferences are always accommodated. There are also very few residents so they get a lot of attention. And I am not exaggerating when I say that it really feels more like a home than just a house; More like a family than an assisted living facility. The thing that makes Humble Haven truly amazing, however, are the owners, Nicole and Albert. As I said, I was ill-prepared for everything that I've had to go through with my dad. (When something like this happens, who isn't?) Nicole, as a nurse, not only used her medical knowledge to explain things to me when my brain was spinning from all the doctors and medications and treatments --- but she truly acted as an advocate for my father, making sure he got everything he needed and deserved from Kaiser. To say she has gone above and beyond is an understatement. I don't want to take up pages and pages listing all the millions of ways she has helped me --- so I'll just say this: If you are on this Yelp page with a difficult decision to make and you are reading this because you're trying to decide if this is a place that you or a loved one should stay, whether for a short while or indefinitely ... Do it. Don't hesitate. You simply cannot get better care than at Humble Haven. I'd give it 10 stars if I could.

It is peaceful, quiet and the owners and caregivers are sincerely caring. Over the years he'd been at another RCFE facility which was neither peaceful or quiet, (both things his geriatric doctor said were crucial) as well as a small memory care facility (again neither peaceful or quiet, and downright upsetting for him). Humble Haven proved to be such a blessing for both of us! This house is managed as a home and the comfort of the residents is the top priority. I was there a lot and I never felt like there was anything more important than how the residents were feeling. They are on a schedule, well fed, exercised when appropriate and given ample opportunity and conditions for quality rest/sleep. There is plenty of interaction between caregivers and residents and the owners are in-and-out a lot, interacting with residents, too. The fact that owner Nicole is a nurse is such a bonus and she was always available by phone and text. Her husband Albert is a great handyman, sometimes cook and caregiver and never afraid to work hard. I realize this review may sound too good to be true, but anyone dealing with dementia in their family is aware of how hard it is to find living accommodations that you can feel good about. Humble Haven fixed that for me. I couldn't care for my dad in my home and felt bad about that in the past. Once I moved him here, I felt good about his situation and knew I was making the best decision for him. If they have an opening and you need a special place for a loved one to thrive, this is it! Good luck and I wish you all the best!

Jim Nazari is the owner and was very thorough and honest. He was there to welcome us when we arrived. The food was excellent as it is made by a professional. She was served fresh meals everyday. When we toured other facilities, I saw pizza boxes, boxed and canned food for the clients. I knew she was always getting a healthy meal. His staff is wonderful. Anna is super! She worked with me on all mom's needs and she helped me communicate with mom everyday via video chat. She kept in contact and managed mom's menu and medicine. I also loved Aileen and Robbie because they gave mom such great care. All of the employees keep a smile on their face and patience in their heart. I liked that they had someone working all night long. The other facilities did not. The owners slept and "would wake" if they heard someone get up. Knowing there was a caregiver dedicated to the graveyard shift gave me great peace when my mom needed to use the bathroom as it was down the hall from her room. Otherwise, she was given a bell buzzer to ring whenever she needed anything. I would not hesitate to use Arks Villa again. Thank you Jim, Anna, Aileen, Robbie and the Chef!
