Several times I have needed temporary care after an illness. The caregivers that were sent were so bad that I just did without them. Mostly very young girls who just sat at the table and played on their phones. And I was paying for that. (Sound of trumpets.) Fear no more! Visiting Angels is here. Don't know why I didn't try them before. The agent, Matt, was very thorough, VERY patient, and ended up sending me EXACTLY the right person for me. We even had similar interests, including having been to India (!) (I wrote a book about my trip to India, "Travels with a Swami," on Amazon) Ourisha was a gentle, caring individual who looked around and took care of everything that needed taking care of. Without being asked, she did the dishes, cleaned up the kitchen, arranged the fridge shelf and asked me if I needed anything on a regular basis. She had such a nice personality, just right for the care industry. Willling and able, and with a smile on her face. The rate for this was $36.50/hr. Very effective, flexible and understanding company that provides well trained home health aids.

I know Home care services. I am a Physician and have been CEO or on the Board of three billion dollar companies mostly focusing on the care of seniors. Millions of senior patients cared for and 1000's of doctors that I have trained. I needed help with a 90+ year old father that has rather simple needs. Ana is slow to respond. She also makes excuses for her ineptitude. They confirmed in writing the service to start at 8 AM on a Saturday. At 7 PM on a Friday night, the night before, Ana informs me that she has nobody to provide services. She asks, Maybe she can start the following Saturday. When I asked how can I rely on their service at this point, she begins the excuses of not having male aides. I express that this is really not my issue as that is what I am paying the premium for, their service, if they do not have anybody they should inform me up front and I would have nothing to say. But to call the night before after confirmation is not getting off to a good start. Her response? She hangs up on me. I have over 30 years in healthcare, devoted to the care of literally millions of patients. If you use this company, you do so having being warned and knowing there is better. They have responded below. Naturally with lies. I contacted them 7 days prior to service not 3. They only showed up three days before service because of Ana. They confirmed service 1 day in advance. I have the e mail as proof. They than bailed out 13 hours before that service. I never use and did not use profanity at any time. Ana is a nightmare and followed only one policy as other yelpers have noted, that is her own incompetent truth. I repeat, I have 30 years of experience with senior care. Avoid this company that would now back their lying employee. read more

We have had Visiting Angels in Santa Monica for about 8 months, and are very pleased with the women the company has sent to help my mother. She is 96, and a very independent type, but she is really enjoying the extra help and companionship they provide. My mother has had several of their people, and each has been excellent. They take the initiative to find out what needs to be done, whether house cleaning, organizing, food prepearation, shopping, doctors' appointments, even exercising, and they follow through.
