Me and…read moremy bestie used to catch butterflies in the fields that is now Bill Rosendahl del Rey park, but in my day, it was known as Glen Alla park. We'd spend hours there...when we weren't at the beach. At night we would spend our time at the UA Marina theater, West World and Perry's Pizza. Seems like a lifetime ago. It was a terrific place to grow up, I'm grateful for the memories. These days you have much of the same, only more of it. Loads of restaurants, grocery stores, nifty shopping and lots and lots of traffic. People too, but that's not a surprise. And traffic lights, quite a few of them. When driving through I had to really pay attention because what was once an intersection with only a stop sign, now there's a signal slowing traffic down. There's all these cute little things hidden throughout the city. Well not quite hidden but a nice…read moresurprise to see. It's located inside the park right in the middle. Just along the pathway and right across from the playground. It's open to the public during certain hours. From the look of it first hand you wouldn't think that it's a lighthouse. Just a nice Victorian style home with the cute wooden picket fence around. There's a parking lot to the side of the property which leads you to the gift shop and restrooms. One end has a cute little garden area where it's a butterfly sanctuary. I didn't go inside the gift shop which I did notices that they offer tours of the property. I can't review the tour as I didn't experience it but the property from the outside was beautiful. You could walk along and check out the front and back of the property and garden. It's a cute place which I think they also host different events throughout the year. I could be wrong but it looked like they were having something for Easter later. It's a beautiful landmark with its nice architecture but to think that it was a lighthouse, I would have never guessed. If you get a chance to stop by the park, it's worth checking out even a wander around if you didn't do the tour.

I go here because they sell See's Candies. Sometimes I stop by on Fridays to buy my Friday candy here. They also sells tourist stuff like postcards, magnet, "I love LA" stuff, Hollywood trophies and even bathing suits. You can also pick up coupons and brochures for California restaurants or theme parks here. I picked up a bunch of Caliofrnia and Los Angeles brochures and books. Thankfully, the trail wasn't muddy or wet either. The length of the hike was shorter than I had expected (2 mile round trip) but surprisingly had a few inclines & a lot of uphill at the end that led us to the private neighborhood. We both enjoyed this trail as there some shaded area & lots of greenery. You can even see glimpse of LA from the top on a clear day. I highly recommend this trail for those that like shorter hikes & easy to moderate intensity. I look forward to coming back.

Not mandatory though. Spent about 20 minutes learning educating myself about things I've never known before about Palos Verdes. Really cool intriguing facts. Love their little gift shop inside offering souvenirs, tshirts, jewelry, toys, and much more. My friend and I got cute sentimental bracelets for like $3.99 each. I also couldn't pass up on crystal Honu (turtle) earrings for $8.99. Amazing prices! If we had stay any longer, I would have bought the whole store. They really had good merchandise. Afterwards, we enjoyed putting our steps in around the trail which takes you to a lighthouse. Very calm and peaceful along the way while you soak in the immaculate views of ocean. Soothing to your ears as you listen to crashing waves. There were benches where you can sit down to enjoy a picnic or to just relax.
