One of my favorite parts each week is picking up my kids from the children's area...my oldest talks about everything she learned and experienced. It's clear the team pours so much love and care into the next generation. The messages are always firmly grounded in Scripture, and right now the church is walking through an amazing spiritual campaign on The Holiness of God, which has been both challenging and encouraging for our family. He is very compelling and has my attention from the moment he begins until he finishes. He speaks to me, not at me or over me...and he translates the bible using everyday vernacular for my everyday life. We always go to the early service at 8am on Sunday...and we are out by 9:15. The music is fantastic, upbeat, and contemporary. Last week they did a song by Casting Crowns. The dress is super casual and people are friendly. You can tell most people there are locals and in regular attendance because they seem to greet each other warmly.

I was brought up in a heavy religious "rule' based church. They taught me only this church is…read moregoing to heaven. I have never felt the presence of God before in my life. And I was scared and frightened of the Lord. I broke away from church and the Lord. Got into drugs really bad, lost everything many times over. My heart was hardened and I was broken. God lifted the veil one day and showed me exactly who I was. Not the cute little gangsta I believed I was. But the REAL me. I started listening to messages on the radio, then youtube, then I started looking for a real live church to go to. Whenever I was in Rehab it always seemed to help. But at Arise, I didn't know what was going on. I started crying, weeping. Like the story where the "woman-prostitute" was cleaning Jesus' feet with her "tears". Now I see how that is possible. Another time I went and up on the screen were like pages of the Bible regarding the crucifixion. It said they spit on Jesus. And when I saw that, I started just crying for my savior. Jesus says, "Love the Lord God with all your heart". I knew then what was happening, I was falling in love, with my Lord God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. The presence of God is definately there at Arise !! And his presence changes everything !! Arise has helped me in so many ways and I believe its because of his presence and the hard work of all Godly people who claim Arise as home !!

The 3 priests are very welcoming and honest and sincere in what they say. The church as a family is a thriving community with many things to do during the week. And if Catholicism is new to you, people are always available to explain what's what. They have 5 Masses/services in the weekend. Sat 4.30pm. Sun 7.30/9.30/11.30am and 5.30pm. Mass at 9.30 is deemed the more family oriented service and Father Dermot does a great job including the little ones in his Homily. 11.30 Mass has the choir. The 5.30 Sunday mass is more contemporary using more recent songs and an acoustic guitar as opposed to the traditional organ. They also have daily mass at 8.30am mon through sat.
