When in Richmond for a soccer tournament with a HS sophomore, a self tour of U of Richmond seemed in order. Campus is sized to walk. We parked in a public lot by the baseball stadium, adjacent to the basketball arena and student gym. Beautiful baseball park even though the Spiders were losing to St Joes out of Philly 14-6. The leafy feel of the campus is an immediate draw. Gorgeous buildings provide the "movie " type of campus look. Students are friendly, the few we actually spoke with. The dining hall is a must see. I enjoyed walking around campus and took photos. I passed the School of Law building which is nice on the outside. It was a quiet day and campus wasn't too busy. The people that I encountered were friendly and helpful in directing me to the Spider Shop which I believe is in the student center. I was hoping to browse the shop and perhaps buy a shirt or other University memorabilia. Unfortunately, the Spider Shop was closed when I arrived so perhaps the shop closes on Sundays. I didn't attend University here but I enjoyed my short visit. My friend went to this University for undergrad and she had a great experience. **** GOAL of 250 reviews in 2026 - 92/250 total reviews in 2026 - 933 total Yelp reviews - Reviewed on 20 May 2026

Fortis College was the worst college experience I have ever had. I would not recommend this school…read moreto anyone without doing serious research first. After paying in full, unexpected charges appeared on my account. There were days students showed up and there was no instructor available to teach. Books were not provided in a timely manner, which made it difficult for students to stay on track. The building also had serious concerns, including what appeared to be mold. In my opinion, the leadership and administration were unprofessional, disorganized, and failed to provide the quality education students paid for. Overall, I felt the school lacked structure, accountability, and professionalism. This experience was extremely disappointing, and I strongly encourage anyone considering Fortis College to do their due diligence before enrolling.

We took the opportunity after the game to visit the college of engineering. We wanted to give our son a first hand look of this part of the campus, if he chose to pick this school. Being able to walk the campus with an unassisted tour allowed us to form our own opinions instead of someone telling us what they want us to hear. Grant it, there is a huge benefit of taking a guided tour of schools, but we did this completely spirit of the moment. The school was very clean, they had a east and west building. We visited one of the buildings and just walked through and looked in rooms, read signs. The building was very very neat, and we saw students studying in their Saturday classes. It wasn't too busy not to mention we were careful not to disrupt anyone but it was interesting to see on our own. Wherever my son selects to go I am sure it will be his choice and we will back him 100%. Until then this is a great campus in the city of Richmond and I am glad we was able to see it.
