The Mexican IHOP, where you can find donuts, pancakes (hot cakes), milkshakes (malteadas), crepes (crepas), eggs, omelets, cheesecakes, and the more Mexican sweet breads, chilaquiles, enchiladas... Nothing especial, but no surprises either, and given this franchise is all over Mexico, it's a safe choice after landing in a new location, before you spend time finding a good place to dine in. One funny tidbit, they sell toys too. This time around, I saw Star Wars ships :)

Food quality 4 Service: 4 Cleanliness: 5 Variety: 5 Location: 5 Prices: 4 Atmosphere: 5 Vips is one of my favorite chain restaurants in Mexico. The atmosphere is relaxing and great for business, families or groups. The food is excellent, my favorite is the caldo Tlalpeño. They offer American and Mexican food, good coffees, cappuccinos and delicious desserts at reasonable prices. This particular location is particularly well situated close to the Macro Plaza, catty corner from the Sheraton Ambassador Hotel, and just a block or less from several other major hotels including the Crowne Plaza, Gran Hotel Ancira, Hotel Royalty, Fiesta Inn and others. They have clean restrooms, and a play area for small children. The booths or tables are all comfortable and well maintained. I've never been disappointed at Vips. I have gone to quite a few and have consistently had a positive experience.

We came here for brunch on a Saturday and even with a reservation, we waited about 10 minutes…read morebecause of how busy it was! With that in mind, I strongly recommend making a reservation in advance on OpenTable if possible. As for our entrees, I ordered the Omelette Light, which unfortunately did not meet my expectations. The panela cheese came in some cubes (looked like tofu cubes), but I was expecting that the cheese would be more infused and melted into the omelette. Overall, I enjoyed the tomatillo sauce but I still felt like the dish lacked some additional flavor. My partner ordered the Chilaquiles Richi, and my only piece of feedback would be to cut the ribeye into smaller pieces (vs. long strips) so that it's easier to eat with the rest of the dish. We decided to share the French Toast Lotus, which ended up being my favorite dish! The salted caramel cream complimented the lotus ice cream well and there was a good ratio between the fruit, sauce, and French toast -- a flavor explosion in every bite! As for the service, it was a bit slow and less attentive than expected (most likely due to the busy weekend brunch rush hour). There was also a smoke alarm above our seating area that kept going off every few minutes due to having low battery, which is not the most pleasant experience either. In general, this restaurant is nestled in a very cute area of Monterrey, but i wouldn't get the Omelette Light again.
