I've been coming here for 4.5 years. I recommend many people to this establishment. But today was the first time where I felt utterly dismissed and maltreated by one of the staff here. I asked for SNS Ombré and he said everything that it wasn't and then rudely said it was out of his skill set. Someone else would have to do my nails. He goes to explain the situation to someone else (who did my nails before) and he understood what I was I looking for. However...he was booked and asked if I could back later and I said no because I have a function out of town that I'm driving too. They told me someone else could assist. I stood around for a bit and then someone finally was nice enough to offer me coffee and a seat. When I tried to ask one of the ladies that I talk to all the time about a simpler style she walked away before I could ask. Now you guys are probably asking why didn't u call ahead. I tried to call but the phone said "unable to pick up". Most of the time staff is great. This new guy in the first seat was rude to me and had me questioning if I should return. I have family in Missippi. I've found this beautiful place because of the yelp reviews. I was a bit a skeptical about my visit, because it's actually under a NEW MANAGEMENT. I honestly didn't know if they'd do a good job. Getting my nails done is a treat for me, because I can only get them when I'm on vacation. Which is only once every 2 months. So quality and satisfaction truly matters to me. I don't want to look at ugly nails all day for 2 weeks. It'd be a waste of time and money for me. This girl likes perfection and I'm hard to please. Plus I tip about $30 for my full set with designs. I thought I'd test my luck. Why not? It's okay to give chances once in a while because you'll never know what the outcome is. Upon arrival, I was immediately greeted with a warm, and enthusiastic manner. I feel very welcomed. It was Tuyen who greeted me at the door. He is a very nice fella. Not to mentioned he made me laugh, and we cracked jokes while I was getting my nails done by him. There was never dull moment. To be honest, I've never had a guy worked on my nails before, and I'm so surprised by his skills, and approachable and witty personality. He listens to my concerns, and I told him I'm a nail snob. I'm quite hard to please because I've always received great care from a shop in California. I didn't know what Missippi has to offer. I have been going to VIP Nail Spa since it had opened. Since the change in ownership and management, the services rendered and professional mannerism has declined immensely. A pedicure should be a time of relaxation, and therapeutic, not one of stress. The environment was loud with employees caring on conversations with other staff across the room, loudly speaking their cultural language. The focus was not the client. I noticed this taking place with other clients, as well. The manicurist seemed to be in a rush. I left with a headache from the noise. I've been contemplating writing this review for the last month and I'm finally writing it because my nails are literally falling off. I've came here twice, the second time I came in was because the first time they did good. Unfortunately, this last time the woman apparently did not speak English well, so when I pointed out that I wanted the $58 mani pedi, she didn't understand. My pedicure was great but then she took me to a table which I didn't understand but I went with it. After painting my nails and checking out she told me it was $80 because I got gel nails! I've never had gel nails because I know the damage they cause. I kept trying to say I did not ask for gel and she didn't understand. It was busy that day and I didn't even know who to speak to about the issue since everyone was working. Now, here I am, and my beautiful natural long nails are just breaking off. I really wanted to like this place. As a military physician I can't have my finger nails painted. As one of my 2 weeks of leave was coming up I called VIP Nails and tried to make an appointment as early as I could on a Saturday, my first day of leave. They couldn't fit me in right away in the morning but offered me an 11:15 appointment, not ideal but I'll take it. I showed up at 11:15 and was greeted and told to pick out my color. I did so and had a seat in the waiting room. About 10 minutes pass and I'm offered water or moscato, so I elect for a glass of moscato because why not, I'm on vacation! The 11:30 appointment shows up and she is greeted by name and immediately taken to her chair. I keep sitting as I see those coming in after me taken back to their chairs. Finally at 11:50 I am taken back to a manicure station and offered a second glass of moscato. I say no, but the lady who offered it to me insisted so I reluctantly agreed. Now I'm hindsight I feel like that was her way of keeping me placated after the long wait. She returns with my wine and tells me it'll be 3 more minutes... oddly specific but okay... Another 10 minutes pass and nothing happens. A couple with a 12 o'clock appointment show up. Immediately they are greeted and shown to their seats, given a glass of wine each and their service begins. I'm told it will be another 5 more minutes. Finally at 12:20 I am asked to move to another chair. The manicurist begins and aside from asking me what shape of nail I want she says nothing else to me the entire service. I elected for a gel manicure, and the results were adequate. She didn't do a great job of pushing back my cuticles and they're are a few nails with scuff marks in the gel. She finished the service with a lackluster 30 second hand massage and I'm shown to the front door. Only now, at 12:45 am I offered an apology for the long wait. All in all I wasted an hour and a half and $40 on a mediocre manicure from this salon. If you're a regular, and are immediately shown to your seat and treated with kindness and courtesy I'm sure this would be a great nail salon to visit. But if you're a new customer I warn you that your time (and money) won't be respected here! Very disappointed that my one manicure in the foreseeable future was so underwhelming. read more

Not sure why this place has so many good reviews. Yes this place has good customer service and I enjoy the free beverages but it stops there. I've gave this place three chances and had a different nail technician each time. They all have done lousy job with my pedicure and acrylic fill. The last chance I gave them the man did my acrylics so thick and the shape was uneven. When he put the gel polish on top it was thick and bumpy.
