I've been a patient in this office for 20 years; quality of care and service has been deteriorating consistently. I've been ignoring minor issues for years, but no more. Practice is antiquated to say the least, can't use credit card for payment without being charged additional fee, patients files with sensitive information are stored on open shelves, not secured, not digitized. One and only time I used credit card - it was compromised, in a next few days unauthorized transactions start appearing. Person in charge of BILLING has no clue how banking or accounting works, so if she can't "locate" payment patient made, she will demand you pay again even though you have proof of payment, just because it's easier than actually learning how to do her job. THIS PLACE IS A MESS! Stay away, there's plenty of doctors out there with professionally run practice. read more

There are not enough words to describe how amazing Dr. Violi and her staff is! My friend (who gave birth to three healthy babies) recommended her and I am so happy she did. Dr. Violi and her staff were so welcoming, answered all my calls/ questions at any moment and just made you like apart of their family. I was able to give birth to a healthy boy and Dr. Violi just provided a very hands on experience (vs the OB's with rotating doctors). My life's most atrocious experience that after years I still regret whey didn't I change my doctors in the middle of my tough & 1st pregnancy . Horrible & Insensitive doctors. Zero compassion and pathetically rude. Horrible bedside manners. I had preeclampsia and I was suffering with severe pain after my C-section. One of the doc on my follow up visit says rudely with a horrible facial expression "once the baby is out my job is done" Another doc who left the practice soon after , ordered wrong combination of Meds which a nurse caught up that you don't give these 2 meds together in high BP patient (I forgot what meds were they) and worst exp was I kept informing these stupid doctors on each visit that I had history of thyroid & I am not on medication since I moved , but none of them cared about testing me or prescribing me meds despite telling them on each visit. Thyroid can cause learning disabilities in new born I was told later by another doctor I met. Do me a favor and find a better team of doctors for your safety. read more

I have been patient for a while,only because location is very convenient for me ( work 5 min walking distance). I had my child at Putnam County Hospital, due to the insurance I had to find a practice in CT. My worst problem is the wait time at the office and rude receptionists. Terrible communication, first and only office that does not mail/ call/ text that you need to schedule your yearly exam. I have never experienced that. Every Dr. Office these days communicates in 2023 via email/ text/ call ,but not them. I scheduled my yearly mammogram at Greenwich office ( like I do every year) and received a phone call from Dr. Violi ' s office that I need to see her first before proceeding with a mammogram! I explained that I was not contacted by anyone from their office to make an appointment, and I am keeping my mammogram appointment. Too bad!! read more

Dr. Violi is an excellent doctor! I have been her patient for 11 years now since I moved from NYC to Fairfield county. I had my third baby with her 6 years ago and I'm now home healing from a total hysterectomy. She cared for my well being and was above and beyond my expectations. She is a true caring doctor and couldn't be in better hands. For the past year I've been suffering from back pain, and I was totally misdiagnosed thinking I had a back problem and sacroiliac joint disease. At the end wasn't my back at all, it was a ginormous fibroid that was causing me all this awful pain. I could not workout, even walking would be painful.... I couldn't sleep on my back anymore, it was endlessly pain on my left lower back, through the buttocks, and legs.... shooting pain! Awful and I felt miserable. Dr. Violi said I needed to have the procedure done because my tiny fibroids grew so rapidly and was causing me all this problems. At the end it wasn't my back! Since the procedure my back, buttocks, leg pain has disappeared and she was extremely right. She knows her stuff and knows really well. I'm so thankful I chose her after the second opinion. She removed a fibroid of 14 cm, thankfully came back benign, I also had parabolic cyst and endometriosis on the Fallopian tubes. She cut over the c-section scar. So happy this is over! The most inconsiderate and irresponsible doctor I have ever spoken to is Dr. Violi. When I arrived for my 10:30 appointment at 10:15 I was not told there was a significant wait time. I asked about paperwork I was signing, and the front desk associates were unable to answer my questions regarding the additional $10 fee to call in a Rx to a pharmacy, the $20 fee to fill out paperwork/documentation, among other charges I thought were a bit silly. I crossed them out from my document and said I was not going to sign that, and they all agreed, they did not know much about it.. When I asked how much longer I had to wait, after sitting in the waiting room for 60minutes, I was assure there was a busy day, and soon I would be seen. I was told there was an emergency, and this is not typical. At 11:45 (75min of waiting) I was brought into an exam room, and waiting in a paper dress. At 12:05 after 95 minutes of waiting, I got dressed and left. On the way out, I told the team this is crazy- and at the very least they could have let me know that there was an emergency and the doctor would be over an hour late. I work in Wilton and drove to Greenwich for this appointment, and had to be back in Wilton at 1:00, I thought a 10:30 appt would leave me enough time. After I was dressed, and ready to leave, Dr. Violi told me she could QUICKLY see me and get me out very fast. .. To this I looked at her, and was shocked... -No I do not want to be rushed during my annual exam -No I do not want to know my doctor is trying to get me out as quickly as possible so she can charge my insurance like she took like, and actually treated me and respected me as a patient -No I do not want to know that I got a 30minute appointment done in 5, and my health concerns can be RUSHED THROUGH I should have known, or should have taken the advice of the other women in the waiting room.. This doctor is ALWAYS behind, makes you feel like she needs to RUSH through meeting you, and the office is a revolving door for OBGYN doctors.. Good Doctor but you will get all kinds of surprise bills from the office and from the lab. Dr Caterina Violi is a very kind person and although my visit went well, my experience with her practice made me really regret going there. After reading other reviews I see that I am not the only one that they fooled . I went there for a regular visit because of a concern that I had, but I was charged as an annual visit with over 10 blood tests done (which I did not know were not necessary to diagnose my problem-I thought the doctor was suspecting of cancer, or something.). At this practice they have a lab called LabCorp- inside the premises - which now I realize they might send everyone for blood work after a visit (without telling the patience what is that about). Of course you will end up being charged like I did - not counting the other tests that they do it without asking you if you want to have (such as urine, breast exam, etc - all a la carte - now I know). I understand and agree that if a blood test is necessary in order to diagnose a patient, it should be done, but if this is not related to consult in order to diagnose the patient, why to ask for it? The lab sent me a $900 bill for a co-pay. Then I called my insurance to ask about it they said that the tests were not related to my visit, so they would not cover them. Then I called the office and after talking to everyone else they transferred me to the manager Lisa Violi, she said that I was lying when I said that I did not know that the blood tests were not related to my visit, as well the breast exam - because it is obvious that a breast exam has nothing to do with a gynecological exam. I really didn't know that because until that day every gynecologist I went always examined my breasts. Am I the only one who did not know that? Please feel free to message and tell me. Lisa Violi said I knew what the doctor was doing an that it was an annual checkup. No only this Lisa yelled at me and called me a liar, she said "it's done now, and if you got billed you should pay your bill because the doctor did you favor and gave you an annual without you making an appointment." Lisa even said to me that I shouldn't have let the doctor touch my breast if I did not want to be charged. WOW. That is a first. What kind of practice is that????? So a person goes to the doctor for a vaginal consult and she has to know the procedure and what is included in that? How am I suppose to know if I did not go to med school??? Of course I was in good faith with the doctor and followed her recommendations, but guess what? I was buying a service that I did not ask for without knowing it. So, if you must go to this office, do yourself a favor: ask, ask and ask. And if you decide to do blood work, be careful or go somewhere else for the blood. Google LABCORP and se all the horrible things people say about this company. I find really sad that a good doctor is working in a place like that, and that her relative so little prepared to deal with the public and is giving her office a bad reputation. Where to start.. Dr. Caterina Violi is very knowledgeable, lots of experience, great bed side manner and she delivers a good majority of her babies - much more so than most doctors I'd say. But that's kind of where the highlights of this review end. If I was rating just her it would be a 5 star experience. HOWEVER, the other Dr. Violi (her sister in law or something) was summarized very appropriately by another review stating how terse she was. I had some bad news that needed to be delivered to me and I was a bit taken aback by her bedside manner. Plus she had just seen me the day prior and didn't even remember me!! Then.. as I'm sitting in the room by myself after some upsetting news all I can hear in the hallways from the staff is chattering about lunch and how they need to get out of here for lunch. I get the world goes on.. but it just kind of speaks to their level of awareness and mindfulness of their patients. You definitely are constantly reminded that they're a business and I like to get less of that feel when it relates to me expanding my family, my health, and my fertility. Also, they recently just changed their credit card policy where if you pay your copay with cc there's an added $2 fee to cover their cc charges?!?! This blows my mind!! They make enough money to eat this charge. What bothers me the most is that I was never notified about this change. No mention of the upcoming change with my last appointment a week before, or when they gave me a reminder call the day before and I spoke with the office, and there was no extended grace period for this policy either. Additionally, expect to wait anywhere from 15-40 minutes to be seen after your scheduled appointment time no matter how early you arrive. And then you'll likely have another 5-10 min to wait once you're cold and naked waiting for the doctor. I've had experiences with two different ultra sound techs. One was so sweet and absolutely lovely. The other lady was cold, unengaging, and kind of rough and gruff .. which isn't desirable when that person has a large wand up your hoohaw. All in all, Dr. Caterina Violi is the only saving grace of this place and all other aspects of this place are no bueno. BUT Dr. Violi is probably one of the top OBs in CT. UPDATE: 7 months later.. After three other negative encounters I have decided to seek services elsewhere. As I can no longer find excuses to write off my negative experiences. I never get to see my doctor in the practice (1 out of 6 scheduled appointments), continually experienced bad customer service, and subpar treatment. I can't imagine experiencing these unnecessary stressors during 9 months of pregnancy. To be fair, they did remove the credit card processing fee. read more

I have been with this practice for over 7 years. Dr. Violi, and her PA, Lisa Violi, are the most thorough physicians you will find. They do not let anything slip by - from an abnormal lab result to a baby's slow heartbeat while you are pregnant - you will be in the most capable, caring hands. Whether you are pregnant or in menopause, every aspect of your situation will be highly regarded, evaluated and considered. As an older pregnant patient, Dr. Violi and Lisa Violi monitored both of my pregnancies very closely and I was successful each time. As a post-menopausal patient, Dr. Violi is the ultimate advocate for preventive care, particularly relating to, ovarian, anal, breast, cervical and endometrial cancer. I expressed my fears about each of these and she immediately came up with a plan for yearly screens that I hope will prolong my life if I am ever diagnosed. For the patients here who have given one star reviews due to what their insurance companies did not cover, that is no fault of the physician or their staff. YOU own your insurance and YOU alone are responsible to figure out what you are and are not covered for. For those who state that the staff is "unhappy," I request that you reflect on your sentiments and ponder if the anxiety and/or unhappiness was on your end. I have been a patient here for 8 years, went through two pregnancies, and now return for semi-annual exams (lots of visits) -- there has never been one incident where a staff member was rude or discourteous. Quite the contrary -- going to Dr. Violi's office during my pregnancies brings back THE MOST happy and wonderful memories. Is the staff busy? Yes! Will you have to wait sometimes? Yes. However, I would rather wait an hour to see a capable physician and PA as opposed to a 5 minute wait for a doctor who is of a lesser caliber than Dr. Violi or Lisa Violi. They have repeatedly told me they would take care of it and the balance went into collections leaving me no choice but to pay. At my 40 week appointment, Dr. Violi swept my membranes without informing me she would do so. She did it very roughly during what I expected to be a routine cervical check. I realized that she had swept my membranes after describing the pain and the specifics of the procedure to a friend (I had previously never heard of it). I was jarred by the experience but otherwise fine for a few days. I came to find out that she had inadvertently punctured my membranes (broke my water) when she was doing the sweep. By the time it became absolutely clear to me that my water was broken (slow leak to gush) 36 hours had passed and the baby was in distress with meconium in his fluid. Labor with Dr. Violi was uncomfortable and rough, and baby was born with a fever that landed him in the NICU for 3 days while they cleared him of any serious infection. I did not schedule a postnatal appointment. Dr. Violi has called me to dispute this version of events, and stated that she would never sweep a woman's membranes without consent. However, another patient of Dr. Violi's told me that after her (relatively smooth) delivery, Violi informed the patient that she had swept her membranes at the last office appointment in order to induce labor. That patient had no idea her membranes had been swept until Dr. Violi bragged about it. read more

In May I had my first appointment with Dr. Violi. When I walked into the office, I was underwhelmed - it was dingy, dark, and uncomfortable. As I filled out the intake paperwork, I noticed that the office charges a $10 fee to call in prescriptions and a $20 per page fee for any forms that need to be filled out. I decided I wouldn't be back after this annual check up. However, after meeting Dr. Violi, I felt a little better. She was friendly and warm and as far as annual visits go, it was fine. I figured I'd decide whether to make another appointment next year. Then the bill came. Dr. Violi had me do blood work at the on-site lab. I've never had blood work done at a GYN's office (I'm not pregnant), but I did what she said. The lab billed my insurance almost $1700.00 and my portion of this was $108.93. I called my insurance company, they informed me that the bill was coded wrong and I should contact the doctor. Called the doctor's office and was told by Ardi that it's a lab mistake - one they see frequently - and that she would pass the bill to their lab representative for correction if I faxed it to her. This was on May 25. 5/31 - checked with Ardi, she said it would be done by the end of the week and that it was unnecessary to keep calling. 6/8 - Ardi suggested I call the lab rep, Frank Covino, directly. I left him a message. 6/15 - Left another message for Frank. Emailed doctor's office and lab to dispute bill. 6/20 - lab emailed back to say the doctor's office has not contacted them. 6/21 - Received a past due notice. Ardi said she just gave the invoice to Frank on 6/14 and that I should "call the lab again because she has nothing to do with it." I responded to the lab email with this information. 6/26 - Lab responded that they have no information about this invoice. 6/27 - Left another message for Frank. Emailed lab again and lab customer service email. To date I have not received a call back from Frank, a response from the doctor's office to my email, or any resolution to this invoice. Clearly I will not be making another appointment with this office. Be careful and diligent with your billing from them, because they seem determined to rip off their patients. My appointment was on May 2, and now two months later I'm still trying to fix their mistakes. read more

I have had nothing but positive experiences since I started coming to this practice. I found this office when i was frantically trying to make an appointment because I was experiencing some concerning symptoms during my pregnancy. The woman at the front desk was the only person out of all the offices i called that day, that took the time to ask me what was wrong and reassure me that I'd be okay, after booking my appointment. That interaction has set the tone for all of my interactions with all of the staff in this office and I cannot say more positive things about them. Pregnancy is a scary, nerve wracking time for some (aka me) and the women at this office including Dr. Violi have not only made me feel comfortable to come to them with my concerns, but they've made me confident that they have the best interests of me and my baby at heart. I never have to wait long, they've even accommodated me and squeezed me into their schedule. Dr. Violi is always thorough and I never feel rushed during appointments. Dr Violi is an excellent surgeon. I have been operated upon by her and the recovery time was much shorter than expected for a major surgery. The scar was barely visible a month after operation, which is again remarkable. She is very caring and her manner is very reassuring. She was terse, rude, and was too impatient to answer my questions. I asked her about hormone testing, and she acted as if she had never heard of it. If you could truly avoid coming here, i would. This practice is unorganized and pushes THEIR beliefs on what is right for your baby. They cater to their own needs and what helps them. Unfortunately, i had to switch pretty far along in my pregnancy from WestMed to Violi because of my insurance. I'm grateful i had the experience in WestMed because Violi's sonogram pictures were awful. I couldn't even tell there was a baby in the picture at 37 weeks. While the technician did the ultrasound she wouldn't communicate to me what she was seeing or if everything was all right. I had to ask the questions! & when the doctor came in after, she asked me if the placenta was in the right place!! Then she was about to give me the same Group B test again that she took last week until i told her it was done (as she rummages through my paperwork) smh. They preach that they respect your decisions but they don't and they all have judgy faces on, too. I would NOT recommend going here. I have been going to Dr. Caterina Violi for almost 20 years. She has delivered both of my daughters, both high risk pregnancies. You truly cannot ask for a more caring and knowledgeable doctor. All of the women who work there are lovely and so accommodating. I have called same day in a panic and they have squeezed me in. As Dr. Violi is currently the only Dr. at the practice, I am amazed by how promptly I am seen. Even in postpartum visits I am waiting a maximum 5-10 min. Christina, one of the technicians, is so loving and thorough, has always been the calming source at the office. They kept saying they get calls about this. I called and emailed Frank with the info they provided but no response. feel the need need to share my experience with this office starting with the staff they are so cold and careless the only thing that they care is to collect your money . I have a heavy bleeding at the third trimester went to the office as an emergency , scare to lose the baby they welcome me at the entrance standing up just waiting for collect the copay instead of care about my emergency first !! I say "patient" because I never actually met Dr. Violi, despite visiting her office five times during the first five months of my high risk pregnancy. Typically I would excuse the wait as long as the Dr spends time and answers my questions during an appointment. Wrong! Questions were answered quickly and the exam was just as fast. Caterina Violi is the worst OBGYN I have ever met. She is lazy and self-centered and does not care about what her patients want. But above all she is a bully and takes advantage of pregnant women that are in a fragile emotional state to make them do what she wants, which is usually delivery by C-Section. She delivered my 3rd baby. I wanted to have VBAC (Vaginal Birth After C-Section) and told her that since the first time I went to see her. She scheduled a date for a C-Section without consulting me and against my will. I eventually found out about the C-Section and I should have realized then that she was not interested in supporting my wish of having a vaginal birth. When I found out that she had scheduled a C-section I asked her to cancel it because I wanted to have a vaginal birth. She got all mad and after that, she started to lie to me and bully me. Around week 36 in my pregnancy she started saying that the baby was too big, that it was a "macrosomic baby" and that macrosomic babies cannot be delivered by VBAC. As the weeks went by she told me that the baby was going to be and 11 or 12 lbs baby (according to the ultrasounds) and she scheduled again a date for the C-Section about 1 week before the due date. I did some research about delivery of macrosomic babies via VBAC and found out that current research indicates that it is perfectly possible to deliver a macrosomic baby via VBAC, so I asked her to cancel the C-Section, and that is when she lost it, she started yelling at me and told me awful things like: "Are you ready to have a dead baby? Are you willing to put the life of your baby at risk? Are you prepared to take care of a sick baby while you have other 2 children?" For the record my baby was big, but not a macrosomic baby. She was 8 lbs 12 oz. I truly believe that she managed the sonogram measurements because she kept saying that the baby was 11 lbs or more. In spite of all the bullying and the screaming I stood my ground and told her that I wanted to wait at least until the due date. My due date came by and I went into the hospital for a C-Section. As soon as she saw me she made a very unprofessional remark: "Are you going cancel the C-Section again? .... This comment was completely unnecessary because I was already all prepped to go into the operating room. But what was even worse, was that just as we were about to go into the operating room she asked me if I wanted to have my tubes tied. We had never talked about any family planning methods before, and it is totally unprofessional, and I believe illegal, to ask a woman that is about to give birth if she wants to have a permanent family planning procedure done. You must be wondering why I didn't change practice. I tried, but no other OBGYN was willing to take me on with my pregnancy so advanced. It is true that Caterina Violi did not cause me or my baby any physical harm, but she certainly cause me a lot of emotional distress and pain, in a time of my life when I most needed the support of my OBGYN. I began seeing Dr. Violi when I was pregnant with my first child and not only did I receive excellent medical care, I found all of the doctors, nurses and staff in the office to be caring, patient and compassionate. This is my first Yelp review I have ever written, but feel it's important for people to know the incompetency of the staff at this location. The long wait times make you feel as if your time is not valued (I have had to wait an hour and a half on more than one occasion) and the complete disregard of their patients' needs are something I have never dealt with. Located in Greenwich, CT I expected this office to be professional and courteous, but found the complete opposite. Being on a tight budget, I depend on my gynecologist to guide me when choosing the cheapest and most effective medication. Three months in a row I have had to change my medication because each time they were too expensive. Every time I call the office and say the same thing, "I cannot afford this medication, can we find something cheaper?" It is like they close their eyes and choose the medication their finger lands on. I am not sure how the "nurses" at this location got their licenses, but you ask them a question and they have never had a knowledgeable answer, often times being completely wrong. Nurse Carol specifically takes hours to get back to you and gives attitude like you are inconveniencing her. She hung up the phone on me twice when I was explaining my frustrations with my medication. When I asked her if she hung up on me, her answer was, "Yes, and I'll do it again." She explained she remembered speaking to me last month and she didn't have time to deal with me again. Amazing. Needless to say, I sent a complaint to the Board of Registered Nursing. To say this office is unprofessional is being nice. Save yourself the time and effort and go to an office where you are not just another co-payment. read more

It has been several months since I visited the office. I actually never thought about leaving a review; but, after seeing other negative reviews I figured I would forewarn others who might be led astray by the numerous accolades this group of health professionals has received. I, like many of the other persons who have commented, waited a significant amount of time for my first and only visit (I do not plan to go back, ever). I was going to leave; but, unfortunately I am held hostage by the US healthcare system and really needed to get my check-up before my insurance ran out. In any case, I was referred by and LGBT agency, so I believed that my particular needs and social ideologies would be respected, they were not. I left feeling abused and unwelcomed. After the fact, I found discrepancies in my bill which have never been fully resolved. I do not recommend this group of OB/GYN 'specialists'. read more

If I could give no stars, I would. I have a friend whom is a former employee of this establishment. The horror stories I have heard from her (and she wasn't just a secretary there either) are absolutely terrible. I also was a patient there for a short time due to my friend working there. I never waited less than 45 minutes passed my appointment time to see a doctor, then the PA walks in (who is the head MD's sister) and tells me they're running behind and she will be examining me if that's ok. Well no, it's not, I made an appointment with the MD for a reason, but at that point I just wanted to get the hell out of there. The PA is also some kind of office manager or something and treats the staff like crap. She is demanding, short tempered, and is easily frazzled. I witnessed her speaking on the phone with a patient and she was clearly getting aggravated. All of a sudden her face went from white to dark red and she was gritting her teeth as she spoke on the phone. I don't know what was going on obviously, but to show that kind of frustration in front of patients and employees is just inappropriate. I have heard the staff quite a few times was not paid on time and had to wait over the weekend for pay checks and were not offered any type of "help" to survive the weekend/take care of kids, whatever. Personally, if I screwed up and didn't submit payroll on time, I would be taking out my check book and writing my staff checks, at least a small amount, to apologize for my mistake. My friend has since left that practice and is working elsewhere due to Dr. Violi and her PA's constant demeaning, belittling, and selfish acts. There is a revolving door of employees, and now it is clear why. I travel over an hour to see an OBGYN recommended by said friend. Worth the drive to feel cared for and not like a copay. read more
