You can stop inside and grab a snack, beer, croissant, pretzel, or whatever have you, before you head to your meeting or conference. Everything here is fantastic (see my REWE post). Kaya is located in the REWE shopping center, but in the front, before you enter past the registers. I didn't realize it the first time I entered the store, and purchased breads and other items in the store. There is a section right in the front on the left side when you enter, that has fresh breads, and Kaya. Kaya is fantastic, only because, in my humble opinion, they serve Burek. Burek is a light filo dough dish, common in eastern Europe and Greece. It is commonly used in Greek pastries called baklava. In my home growing up, my mother made baklava, burek, cheese strudel, and apple strudel. All of these use the very thin filo dough, which make it extra special. Well, I was so excited when I walked up and saw the "Burek" sign. I was hooked, and the gentleman at the counter even gave me a few taste samples. I ordered the cheese burek, spinach/cheese, and meat options. All were just as my Mom made... delicious. If you are in Munich Germany, and staying at the Arabella Sheraton or the Westin, you have to try this place. It's the only place in the area that I know of that has Burek, and you won't be disappointed.

They have limited supply mostly from the local area and their whole chickens are really good. It looks like it was brought to the market the same day and done by hand. I have also purchased eggs here before and they are excellent. Their prices are reasonable and the people who run the place are very friendly. I have been here on numerous occasions and their quality is consistently good. Not a bad place to go if you are looking for locally sourced meat, poultry and eggs.

They…read morespeak very little English here so you need to know how to explain what you want :-) I like the fact that a lot of their meat is Bavarian in origin and of really good quality. I am a big believer in buying local and this shop for me is exactly that. It's not cheap but if you want quality meat you have to pay for it. I have bought leg of lamb here that was tender and delicious and Filetsteak which is also excellent. I don't believe their stuff is bio but then again I have not asked the question. I don't eat meat very often but when I do I want excellent quality meat and this place does it well. Every time I visit this shop I wish I could speak Bavarian :-( There is always people in this shop and often a line up for meat. On Saturdays be early as they run out if stuff quickly.
