Associated Realty of Rice Lake

Associated Realty of Rice Lake

Well we have rented from this business for over a year. From day one when we moved in we told them…read moreof a roof leak that was leaking water into the hall bathroom through the window and through the junction box in the hall closet. This was not a brand new leak. The ceiling was discolored and so was the wood floor. We reported this immediately to Cathy Hansen, whom said report it to the condo association. This leak was never fixed, never a priority, tearing down an old chimney or fixing the boat dock that the condo president used was priority over fixing a leak. We ended up moving out because of this. The lack of care from this landlord or concern that this water leak was causing mold in our condo along with leaking water into the condo below us was not a concern to her. When we moved out, we cleaned that condo from head to toe. It was cleaner than when we moved in. We went through and patched the nail holes from the pictures we had hung, however the paint that was left over was from 2006. It was dried up, we couldn't even mix it with some water. We just received our security deposit back less $500 for painting. Claiming that the apartment needs to be completely repainted due to the white Mark's left all over (aka the patching of the holes). If you were filling holes, then she can only assume that we had really big holes or anchors on the walls to warrant those kind of repairs. Nail holes only take a small amount of hole filler. This is not considered "normal wear and tear" and is therefore our responsibility to pay for a portion of the repainting. No way, absolutely no way painting was $500 plus, the condo is less than 1200 sq feet, no way it cost more than $500. We have been ripped off from this woman, our health put in jeopardy because she was more concerned about going on Vacation multiple times a year Instead of taking care of her property and fixing what needed to be fixed. I would not recommend this company for a rental place or purchase a home from her as a realtor. She was very petty and jealous when we told her we had a family friend that we were going to use if we found a home to buy.

I will start by saying that I am happy with my home itself. The quality of the home is good…read more However, my experience with Chris was awful. I am an educated, mid 30s, single mom of three (widowed) and he treated me like a child with every question. My personal experience was that Chris is a condescending misogynist as I would email questions for clarification as he was the "GC" and he would give me lip service, placate me, or ignore me completely. However, if my boyfriend call or emailed him (who had no "skin in the game" as I was paying for and designing everything) he would answer him immediately. Chris lied throughout the entire process. Said my house would be here at a certain time and then week by week kept pushing it back, we finally called the factory itself and they said my house hadn't even been STARTED yet. I ended up moving into the home, with three kids, without even having electricity for the first few days because as much as Chris assured me he was "the general contractor" he did nothing to manage anything, which doesn't surprise me since he couldn't even manage the house portion competently. There was also absolutely NO compensation or money taken off final payment due to the severe mishandling of our agreement, in fact he asked for MORE money at the end to "settle up with the plumber and electrician." Which had been in the contract inside the final payment. I have been in my house for nearly 6 months and am still waiting for them to come fix the cracks and issues with drains I'm having so I can paint and actually be completely done with the move in process. Jeff, the fix-it guy is amazing. The house is good quality for the price you pay. However, my recommendation would be to find a different dealer and absolutely avoid Chris like the plague. He is terrible and ruins what should be a good life experience.
