For the past three Saturdays they've held themed tastings of bold reds, sparkling wines, and cab sauv complete with cheese and crackers and fruit. I consider myself extremely lucky to live close to such a great community gathering place and resource. I've only been to Vino Divino once, but plan on going back. I was the only shopper when I walked in and the person working the counter immediately greeted me and came over to help me. He was super knowledgeable and answered all my questions. I liked the decor - open, basic, clean. And they had information on each bottle right under its little cubby, along with 2 different ratings (1 from the store and 1 from Wine Advocate. Price-wise, it's a bit more than some other places, but it's a local store (they have another location in Newton) and I'm always glad to support local places. When I paid, he informed me that they have a frequent buyers club (it's free) and he gave me a card with information about the bottle I bought. He also emailed me the card, which is great. (For the record, I got a Cantine Riondo NV Prosecco which was very tasty.) I wish the prices were a bit lower, but they weren't even THAT steep. read more

Alright so one of my new things after moving to the west has been to find solid Vino shops. I feel they are very difficult to find especially shops with folks who are very knowledgeable. Another plus for me in a Vino shop is for it to have some unique blends that are not commonly found. So that is where Vinodivino steps in. So this joint is located in Brookline and I never knew it existed even after living in Boston for a while. I walk into the shop and it is very modern with an open layout making it very easy to peruse the store. The selection is quite interesting and diverse which is definitely a plus for a vino shop. For most of the vinos, they also provide a rating showing how they rate it along with a wine critic. Once you purchase a bottle of vino, they provide a tasting card where you can read about what the wine would pair well with along with other information which I thought was a very solid idea. This wine shop is definitely a gem and a spot I enjoyed going to. So right now you are probably wondering why not at least a 4 star rating for this joint? So just by chance, I went to another vino shop later that night in Quincy to just have one bottle for the night naturally... anywho... and I was walking around the spot and noticed the same bottle I had purchased from vinodivino earlier that day but for $15 cheaper!!! Big fan of the store but not sure a $15 premium seems warranted... I can't believe it's taken me so long to review vinodivino! This shop is great for wine lovers AND beer lovers. I don't know much about wine, but vinodivino does a great job of describing the wines on display and the staff is always willing to help (but not in a I'm-going-to-ask-if-you-need-help-every-five-seconds type of way). The staff are welcoming and let you take your time browsing. Their selection of wines is great - various price points and wines from all over. I actually tend to get my beers here as well because you can create your own four packs and they are typically stocked with great craft beers and ciders. The cutest little wine store in Washington Square! Modest decor with a knowledge person behind the counter. Space is not intimidating at all but it actually encourage you to browse through the region and look for what you need or what you might be interested in trying. There's also a free membership that you can enroll in, not only would they list out the wines that you bought (because don't you hate it when you had a good bottle but forgot what it was) but you can also get a discount after you buy so many. The selection is interesting, affordable, and diverse, and the open layout makes it easy to navigate and not too overwheming. The tasting cards they give out with each bottle purchased is a genius idea, and the frequent buyer card is fantastic not only for the eventual payoff, but in case you forgot the name of that wine you got 2 months ago (they can pull it up for you). I have lived in Brookline for three years now and one of the best parts of living here is being so close to Vinodivino. I frequent this place most Friday nights after work (which is conveniently when they hold their wine tastings) to pick up a bottle of wine or two for the weekend. The staff is super friendly and very knowledgeable about their wide selection of wines, which ranges anywhere from $10 - $100+. One of the things I like most about Vinodivino is that they have a rewards program -- for every $100 you spend you get $10 off your next purchase. The best part is that it is attached to your address, so no need to put another rewards card on your keychain or in your wallet (thank god!). They also offer a %15 discount on a case of identical wines and %10 off a mixed case. I also recently went in here to get a bottle of wine as a gift for a friend's wedding and the staff made excellent recommendations and helped me find exactly what I was looking for -- they even wrapped it and boxed it up for me. Overall, this is a great place, with helpful staff, very reasonable prices, with a friendly neighborhood vibe -- highly recommend to anyone in the area!! P.S. I have decided that Vino Divino is where I will buy most, if not all, of my wines. Why? Because I know that whatever bottle I buy, it will be great. My favorite low-priced red they carry is the Chilensis Merlot. It's so smooth and tasty. The staff here is also really knowledgeable. If you tell them your preferences and price range, they'll be able to pick something perfect for you. The selection may look small, but the quality is there. Also, if you buy a 6 bottles of any kind, you get a 5% discount. A full case merits you a 10% discount. read more

The vinodivino series of wine shop are my absolute favorite in Boston. They carry an amazing selection of wine and are the most technologically savvy I've seen. It's super easy to place orders, online, via phone, or in person. They offer extremely generous discounts on already fantastic prices. In store, the wines are displayed generally by varietal. They have an extremely knowledgeable staff who really picks wines based on your preferences than what they need to move in inventory. They also have their own point system, which is already a nice to have for comparison. They have free wine tasting almost everyday. And when you visit the store, the staff will sometimes offer you a taste for free. They have many repeat visitors from the nearby areas, and a great loyalty program. I stopped by Saturday morning to purchase a case of wine. They offer discounts when you make large purchases (15% off for 12 bottles of the same wine, 10% off for 12 mixed bottles, and 5% for 6 bottles). We were the only shoppers and were immediately greeted by the man at the counter. We were asked the correct questions about what we like and had assistance during the entire purchasing process. The recommendations were in line with my general preferences, so I'm very excited to try out the wines. He also answered all our questions. We found out that the employees try all the wines that are sold, so he was very helpful in telling us the difference between bottles of the same grape. He kept our budget in mind when making recommendations, so the final price was very reasonable. One of my favorite parts is that they email information cards about each bottle purchased, so we'll have a record of the ones we really liked. read more

I am very upset I no longer live near vinodivino. I visited the Brookline location on numerous occasions. Every single time the employees would help me find the perfect wine to take home. I would typically go on my way back from the grocery store with dinner in the bag. No matter what I planned on making, they gave me multiple wines that would pair perfectly with the meal. The prices are just right. If you want a cheap wine, they have that option. If you want to splurge, they have expensive bottles as well. As others have said, they have a rewards system that you are automatically signed up for that gives you points for every dollar you spend (no catch!). They will also email you a copy of the "wine card." The wine card is the same one you would see at the store, with information such as score, where it was made, what pairs well, etc. It really helps you keep track of what you purchased. I might have gotten a bad first impression of this location when I first went in, but it seems to be stocked with a very high-end set of wines. Unlike the Newton location there are very few bottles in the $10-12 range, and there were only a few beers in the small fridge. Given the proximity of Trader Joe's and the Publick House Provisions store across the street, I probably won't make many purchases here. Having said that, the staff here is incredible. They are incredibly friendly and helpful, never pushy and always know what I'm looking for before I can really explain what it is that I'm trying to get. If I'm lost for what I am trying to buy and am looking to spend around $18-20 or up, then this is the first place I'll go. The membership program (which I joined a few years ago in the Newton store) is great, as is the referral program (have your friend tell the store that you referred them and you get a credit, and they get a discount - I think that's what they told me). I'd love to do all my wine shopping here, but they just don't have enough wines on the $10 level. If they get more of a variety, however, this review will jump right up to 5 stars. read more

Even if vinodivino weren't conveniently located on my way home from the T, I'd still buy most, if not all, my wine here. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable, wines are reasonably priced, and the selection is fantastic. I'm more of a beer than wine person, so choosing a good wine in my price range is an intimidating thought. But there's always someone behind the counter who's eager to make recommendations and I have yet to be disappointed. I've even come to appreciate wines I never thought I would like (bad past experiences) by trusting the staff. And, they keep a record of all the wines I've ever bought, so they can see what I keep coming back for and recommend similar bottles. And I love getting the tasting notes with every purchase. It's a great way to keep a record of the different bottles I've had, make notes on the style and flavors in the wine, and start to get to know different grapes and regions as well as I know beer. Regarding price: it's true they're more expensive than, say, that grocery store in Coolidge Corner (you know the one). But as a grad student, I'm on a limited budget and there's always something good I can get for $15 or less (lots of great wines at $12.50, in fact). If I'm celebrating or in the mood for something a little pricier, they have those bottles as well. And one of the things I think they do the best is get reasonably priced bottles from really good wineries. vinodivino is definitely the best wine store in Brookline. I highly recommend you check them out (particularly on Saturdays for their afternoon tastings). read more

Great wine, better service! I'm glad this great little wine store has become a fixture in Brookline. It's obvious they have chosen the $12-$15 bottles with great care but they carry fantastic wines at the higher end as well.The store has cards that detail the wines you purchase helping you remember your favorites. They have Saturday tastings and a Thursday night event so you can try new wines. The service however, really sets the store apart. I have found myself looking for the young lady who works weekends because she makes finding new wines so much fun! She has this great way of guiding you through your likes & dislikes to come up with a with a few perfect wines at several price points. I have never been disappointed. They have a select and often changing selection of wine, all vetted and rated by the owners. Each wine gets two ratings: their own, and one from the wine world (Robert Parker, etc.), along with a description and a breakout of the varietals involved. Vinodivino's ratings are often a bit tougher than the "pros", which I appreciate and trust. There are selections across the price range, and you can always pick up a tasty wine for $10-15. If you wish, they will print out the descriptive cards for each wine, and/or send you them by e-mail. The owners and staff are knowledgeable about their stock. They will take a tasted bottle back if you don't care for it. All-in-all, a very thoughtful approach. Except for brief forays elsewhere, it's now my wine store. read more

I love this shop! The wines are individually selected and I have never been steered wrong. The prices are really good for the quality of the wine. I tend to buy the less expensive wines for every day drinking and have always been pleased. I have a fair amount of experience with wine, so I feel I know the right questions to ask.
