The selection is kind of astounding, genuine 50's floral, 60's swing dresses, drapey 70's chiffon and geometric, shoulder padded 80's creations line the walls. These are not supermarket wear, definitely costumey or for the vintage fashionista. The mens collection is not as interesting save for a few hawaiian shirts and quality Italian shoes. There is interesting costume jewellery between $15-$90 as well as original rolls of 60s/70s/fabric. The bric a brac is mostly kitchen/domestic, think salt and pepper shakers, green/orange glass and tea pot sets. The owner is really sweet and has collected the clothes in earlier decades, definitely worth a visit for the die hard vintage collectors.

Prices of things are usually quite reasonable and the fabric is perfect to make toiles when you don't want to spend $5 a metre on calico because you're never going to wear it! I live just down the street from this op shop, and I've probably been in no fewer than 50 times in the last year. It's a bold statement, but... this is the best op shop I have found in Melbourne! And trust when I say, I know second hand. This store is a treasure. Something about the grit of Grey St and the snob of St K come together in a beautifully affordable syncretism that is a new-with-tags French Connection dress or a stunning 1950s painted bureau. The staff here are always wonderfully friendly, working hard to add new stock in daily. The store itself is not much on looks, but the racks and stacks of donated goods are well worth a dig. A word of advice: If you see it once, you won't see it twice. This shop is top pickings for the acquainted, so if you think you might want something you'd better snag it while you can.

This is one of my favourite Gorman stores in Melbourne. The range is pretty much the same as everywhere else but it stands out as one of the better ones for a few good reasons. 1 - it's big, with a huge change room area that feels a little more discreet at the back of the store, meaning you can come in and out of the change room and strut your stuff in front of the mirror. 2 - it seems to attract a really fun clientele who are all happy to comment on each others outfits and give advice and compliments whilst doing said strutting. 3 - the staff! They are my main reason for coming to the Windsor store. I love that they remember me, know what shapes suit my body and love playing dress up with me. Lucy and Julia are terrific and are exactly the kind of sales assistant you want - they always ask what I "need" in my wardrobe and are great at suggesting I try different combinations and things "just for fun" rather than with a focus on having me spend more than I intend to. Their pieces are fairly pricey but they are absolute classics and will be staples in your fashion collection for years to come. There is nothing not to love. When my friend and I went in, we were greeted by very friendly and helpful staff who were happy to go above an beyond in finding an outfit that we would be happy with. The likes of Shepard Farley's OBEY series can be found here, along with Mike Giant's work. Both prints and original artworks are for sale, and the people behind the counter are more than will to help you look though. Any tips of painting and using the products will also come from them.

Before you even step inside, take a look in the window. It's jam packed with art toys, prints, clothing and assorted bits and pieces. Inside, every possible space is filled with much of the same. I'm a toy collector, so I usually check these out first. There is a lot of Kidrobot product here, from blind boxed figures and plush to customizable blank figures and lots of limited edition stuff. There are plenty if other ranges here too, like Pop Vinyl and some more harder to find pieces, and the staff are always more than happy to help you out. They'll usually do discounts in bulk purchases of full boxes of toys too! Aside from the toys, there is a lot of (street) art supplies like paints and markers, which are also great for pretty-ing up those blank figures! There's a small section of fairly expensive clothing here and some really fun homewares pieces. A lot if these pieces are limited editions, such as tea sets, money boxes and cushions, so don't expect to be spending your spare change on them! The only downside to the store is it's size. With a few people in here it can get crowded, especially with so much stock around, but that's really nothing major. There is another Villain store at QV in the city, that is a little more spacious and sometimes has different stock in it, but are always happy to help you get your hands on what you're looking for.
