When I came back to Bass Hill to use my voucher at Cinch? The voucher was past the 3 months validity date. Although I understand this policy, there was no consideration into other factors and the owner and salesperson refused to honour the voucher of the same amount of money by spent at the store in the first place. Actually disgusting as money value remains. No other solution or help given. According to Fair Trading, many vouchers and credit notes have an expiration of 3 years. Such a dishonest practice for a family run business

And to add to the good collection is the pricing. They are so affordable and genuine. Every time you go to a boutique shop one is just expected to pay top dollar for the most routine things. At Cinch they believe that one can be fashion savvy yet at the same time budget conscious too. This is something that works for me and not once have I been disappointed at Cinch. I have been able to find very appropriate clothes for all occasions from party wear to just street wear. Funky clothing to classy clothing - it's all there for you. Also the staff - I should mention are so friendly. There are at least two to three everytime I have gone there. There is always someone present if you can't find your size or anything else for that matter. I think this makes all the difference - how many times you just didn't even try things or just left from the store just because you couldn't be bothered to go and find someone to help.. I have. Well try Cinch, you won't be disappointed .

Also a white lace minidress with lovely bell sleeves that was by a local fashion designer...and yes, these all came home with me. Shout-out to Natalie and Hazel who were both extremely friendly, welcoming, and helpful. One big gripe that may sound silly but it's a legit issue: they pack WAY too many items onto each rack. They are so tightly packed together that you honestly can't slide them apart to see a garment. I mean there is truly not even a tiny gap between the hangers; the hooks are hard-pressed together on the clothing rack bar. I've never seen this many garments shoved so tightly, even at a down-market thrift store. It made it so difficult to browse that I ended up skipping past big swaths of racks that I really wanted to look at but simply could not access. It was bizarre and extremely off-putting, which is a shame.. If I could have actually SEEN the clothes properly this place would get a full 5 stars. Dear shop owner: if you absolutely must put out this many items, just buy longer racks. There's space in your store to put in more racks, especially upstairs. You will sell MORE clothes when people can actually browse through them. Stop buying hangers and start buying racks!
In what can only be described as a mini recycled clothing hot spot, lies, amidst two charity shops,…read moreU-Turn Recycled Clothing. A slightly upmarket opportunity shop. Where as shops like St Vincent De Pauls, or Vinnies, as it is known, stock large amounts of everything, clothes thrown onto racks and boxes and boxes yet to be unpacked waiting patiently out the back. U-Turns is more sparing with the clothes that it sells. It's as though the clothes must first pass a series of tests before they are displayed in the shop and sold to the masses. Are they stylish? All the clothes available on the U-Turn Recycled Clothing racks are very hip and very apt, some faux fur formal wear for your first foray into furry fashion. Bold and brash cowboy boots with buckles and buffed leather finishes. A hat made of a mink that makes you think about the stink it would have caused to hunt said mink and taylor him into a hat. The prices reflect the classier appeal and display of the clothing and, while cheaper than most first hand clothing, is a little pricier than the shops next door. You could find, mixed amongst the trash and bland clothing in most thrift shops, a piece of treasure that would look so bold in your wardrobe, but to find that you would have to be lucky. Likewise it would be quite unlucky to find some trash in all the treasure at U-Turn.

I found an awesome beaded necklace here that people comment on... I don't tell them it was from Vinnies! Okay, actually I do after a while because I think it's pretty cool. When I'm in there I often think, okay, when I need a particular item of clothing for a particular one use occasion I am going to come here and find it for next to nix. Somehow I always forget though. Anyway, if you are on a budget, then get to vinnies to get some rad clothes and support a charity.

I love to thrift shop since I'm only a casual on a budget and there's some really good finds in the Vinnies that I've visited before. While that still stands true, the customer service was a mess. To put it bluntly, my friend and I were racially profiled. I was in line with my purchases when a girl at the counter looked at me up and down and rudely told me to go to the girl next to her instead. I didn't want to cause a scene, so I said nothing and moved along even though I was already insulted. And the thing is, it didn't end there. My friend is a little darker than me, and she was purchasing something to. We were both in the line at the other girl's aisle, and my friend was only looking at something on the display when the first girl had the audacity to accuse her of stealing something. When we were in line. With our money at hand. Really? The lady serving us apologised for her coworker and my friend overheard a conversation between her and the manager about how it was that girl's second day. Still, that was utterly unacceptable. Good products. But maybe Vinnies should screen their volunteers better.

Like most boutique stores, it's the place to go if you really want that stand-out piece or don't want to be seen doubling up on an outfit for the evening. That being said, it really does pay to look good. Or should I say you do - and you will. The prices are quite expectantly high for a boutique store, but that's the trade-off you'll have to bargain with yourself. What I find about this little dress boutique store (on the off chance that I step inside) is that it's pretty much hit and miss with the service. For me it's reason enough not to head in if I don't feel welcome in a store. Pretty, glittery things don't always sell themselves. On occasion you'll get a small hello but that's pretty much it. I don't know, sometimes it could just be the Erin Brockovich vibe I'm imagining in my head, but I'd really like to Pretty Woman that store one day.

Hey Standard Store, aren't you fancy?…read more This new flagship shop on Crown Street directly next door to The Trinity has definitely got "cool" in its bag. A friend of mine enthusiastically recommended it to me and said I must, must check it out. So check it out I did. I found some very interesting, "out of the norm" garments in here. I was told afterwards that most of the shop's styling is European, which makes a lot of sense. Lots of quirky pieces fill the racks, most with interesting embellishments or asymmetrical necklines. I was drawn to a patchwork and lace cardigan, but had to catch my breath after realizing it was near the $300 mark. Not that it isn't worth it, I just didn't quite see it coming. If you're after shoes, jewelry or accessories, Standard Store has a few options here, but not a ton. They are definitely taking a minimalist approach to stocking the shop, but there's probably a sales tactic here that I'm just not aware of. That or the rest of their European shipment is being held up in Australian customs.

The Standard Store just opened in September of this year in a little heritage building in Surry Hills. It's the flagship of the Flying Standard Distribution agency, which sells various European brands. When I walked in, there was just one employee who was helping the only other customer in the store. She didn't even glance my way to welcome me or ask me if I needed assistance, which is surely not polite service. The store itself is cute, minimally decorated, and reminded me of a miniature version of Urban Outfitters (though much more organized). Their inventory of clothes is quite small, but they do carry basics like shirt, jeans, and shoes. I saw less than ten different brands in the men's section, though there appeared to be a bigger selection for women's apparel on the opposite side of the room. Sifting through the clothing racks, I saw $150 striped shirts and $300 cardigans. I like how they carry uncommon labels, but that doesn't detract from the unjustifiably high prices. Despite liking several things I saw, I can't picture myself rushing back here for any reason.

Due to its location, I'm guessing it probably doesn't get a huge number of visitors during the week, so sometimes stock can seem a bit inconsistent.
