Beware of additional high tax fees within your quoted tax fee price. The Emerson office prepared my…read moredaughter's taxes and only because she had an investment 1099 Form, she was charged a "Complex Income Fee" of $150.00. It didn't matter that there was not any diversified income from this Form. Her total fee came to $285.00. The tax preparer had only to take an $8.64 dividend from a 1099 Form which I had printed out for her and even highlighted for her. It took the preparer approximately 10-15 seconds to read and input this data. It was a simple tax return with a W-2 Form. It was not a complicated return with various investment income. Again, it was only an $8.64 dividend that she had to take 10-15 seconds to read and input. There was nothing complicated or COMPLEX about this income. The $150.00 fee was very unfair. After two weeks of pleading with them they would not credit back one cent of this fee. Also, beware of poor service. Between my daughter and I, we spent about an hour trying to set an appointment with this office. We called four times and was bounced around to field or headquarter offices. One person scheduled us an appointment where the tax preparer had a scheduled off day. The Emerson office had no one answering live calls any of the times we called, thus the bouncing around to other offices. The total experience was very aggravating and dissatisyfing.
