Too bad I never got to see her…read more The receptionist said she is accepting new patients, but could not take my information as she is the only one in the office and is too busy checking patients in and out to set up a new patient appointment. She also said the doctor only does one new patient appointment per day when I asked for a back-to-back appointment with my husband. Receptionist tried to discourage me from seeing same doctor as my husband even though she had no idea why I wanted that. This doctor may be great, but I will never know-- no chance to make an appointment. This receptionist's handling of my call just cost this practice the revenue stream from two new patients. Seems like they do not care. Frustrating. If I could have put no stars, I would have. I wonder if the doctor knows how the front office is handling calls.

I have concluded,…read morethrough a number of events and over an extended period of time, Poinsett Family Practice could care less about how their Primary Care patients are managed and to a lessor extent .. whether their patients believe (subjectively) they are recieving adequate care. As a patient for a number of years, I can say early on, my care was reasonably good. But after Covid, the level of professionalism in this office declined dramatically. Today, their professionalism is miserably bad; forcing me to seek another primary care physician. Over the last eighteen to twenty-four months, the doctor-patient relationship deteriorated noticeably. His (Dr. Newman) demeanor was one of "casual indifference". He did not seem concerned about particular patient complaints, often glossing over my statements with either casual chit-chat or no reply at all. Within the last two years, I asked him for a referral to a specialist. I was told, "Call your insurance company, they can give you one". When I called the insurance company, they did not understand those instructions and told me it was quite unusual to be told something like this. So I never got a referral to a specialist .. one that I could still use to this day. Last Spring, I had a virtual (home) Doctor's appointment as a follow-up to lab-work. The window was a two-hour telephone appointment window. At three minutes before that two-hour appointment closed, I recieved a call from the doctor's office to inform me he was "running late". He was with another patient and that I should carve out another hour and a half to wait by the phone for him to call me back. After being ignored for the first two hour "appointment", I was to wait "on standby" for another hour and a half? Is this the way patient appointments are managed? Clearly, YES. Subsequently, I contacted the insurance company to file a grievance against the Dr.'s office. After another routine visit with this doctor's office (Fall, 2024), no mention was made by them regarding the previous affair. No apologies, no comment. They scheduled two appointments for me this Spring (2025). One for lab-work (blood), another a week later for an "in-person" routine follow-up. I completed the first appointment a week ago for blood-work (lab). No one from their office advised of any changes or attempted to verify the next appointment date. I appeared on-time this morning for the second appointment. After giving them my name, I was called to a private area and informed the doctor cancelled my appointment last November (without notice) and rescheduled it (without notice) for this April. To repeat, I was not notified of either change. The reason the doctor could not see me this morning was because he was on vacation. Vacation. And no apologies -- yet again. I asked to speak with the office manager about this. After being ignored for ten minutes I left. Subsequently, I placed a telephone message requesting the office manager contact me. No return call. Ignored again. By now, a particular pattern of professional abuse should be obvious. If you are reading this, you should ask yourself whether you should tolerate this standard of "handling" by your doctor. Perhaps you might not object. I am not inclined to overlook the miserable treatment by Dr. Newman's office. I am not inclined to overlook the complete lack of courtesy, professionalism or accountability. Nor will I be overlooking the direct failure to provide a specialist referral when directly asked for one. There are other doctors out there that would, I assume, choose to treat their patients with far more concern and care. Overall, my treatment over the last three-to-four years has been just very, very poor and it is time to move on to another practice capable of doing better than just plain "TERRIBLE".

Office manager and staff have not one shred of empathy for people who have been through losses…read more They are condescending, and have refused me healthcare multiple times today, and are beyond unprofessional when it comes to medical notes. They didn't explain to me at all why my request was continuously denied, these are women btw, you would think they would have a bit more of an understanding when it comes to pregnancy losses, and pregnant women with autoimmune diseases. Anyways, they lost three patients today. This is honestly the very first issue I have had over here so it's really disappointing. I have no issues with the doctors I have seen, ( Dr Pollard and Dr Jones-Moon, who actually did tell me two different things in the situation) but their female nurses and office manager both have awful bedside manner considering their professions. I and my mother spoke to these women today, and they are super caddy and unprofessional. With my VA disability rating, I could have 100% of…read moremy medical care at the VA for free, but choose to spend considerable funds to be a Partner MD member. Here's why. My doctor, Dr Messer knows me and my medical history. Before each appointment he's reviewed my records and twice he's caught errors from specialists and reasons for referrals not obvious to me. His approach to healing emphasizes starting with low-level intervention where time and risk allows. He's successfully treated several issues with this approach. My prescription refills are drama-free and he works equally well with ExpressScripts and my local pharmacy. I can always get an appointment when needed. Same day for acute care and within a day or two for routine problems. At my most recent physical he suggested a CAT calcium scoring and I had it done the next day, less than 20 hours later...and had my results a few hours after that with Dr Messer's notes. Amazing! I've been a patient here for close to 10 years. Long enough to see a noticeable decline, and…read moreunfortunately it's reached a point where I can no longer recommend this practice. One by one my friends and family have switched doctors as they have also seen the decline in quality. Since the office moved locations, several physicians retired, and management changed, the quality of care has steadily deteriorated. What used to feel patient-centered now feels transactional and indifferent. The continuity and attentiveness that once set this practice apart are simply gone. Most recently, I arrived 7 minutes late for an appointment while paying $200 per month for my membership. All I needed was assistance scheduling an appointment with a specialist, a task that would have taken less than five minutes. They clearly had the time, yet no effort was made to help or work me in. The receptionist spoke to me rudely. There was no flexibility, no attempt at problem-solving, and no sense that patient needs mattered. For a practice that markets itself on access and personalized care, this was extremely disappointing. The issue wasn't policy--it was attitude. The overall impression now is that patients are an inconvenience rather than a priority. It's frustrating to say, but this is no longer the practice it once was. The decline has been gradual but unmistakable, and at this point, the level of care no longer justifies the cost.
