From the very first visit, Dr. Chen took the time to really listen--without rushing, without dismissing, and without making me feel like just another patient. His compassion, attentiveness, and depth of understanding are rare. He explains things clearly, answers every question with patience, and makes you feel safe, respected, and supported in your care. It's obvious he truly cares about his patients as whole people, not just symptoms. His staff is equally exceptional--kind, professional, responsive, and genuinely warm. From scheduling to check-in to follow-up, they create an environment that feels calm, caring, and welcoming. You feel supported every step of the way, which makes an enormous difference. Dr. Chen and his team set the standard for what healthcare should feel like. I trust him completely and feel incredibly grateful to be under his care. If you are looking for a physician and practice that truly listens, advocates for you, and treats you with kindness and respect--this is it.

Dr Preston retired a number of years ago so this is not a review as much as it is a remembrance. I…read morefeel compelled to add this because of the entitled princess Jennifer D. that wrote the scathing remarks without any history with the Drs. Preston or knowledge of their immense contribution to the community. So let me set the record straight. Both Drs were part of Doctors Without Borders and regularly served in third world countries helping impoverished and marginalized people all over the world. Bill Preston in fact died during one of these missions. Rebecca Preston was always passionate about passing her knowledge and experience on to the next generation of physicians, however patients were always asked if it was ok for the students to be involved with their care. Students repeat the same questions because that's how they learn. I was happy to help the process but perhaps Jennifer should have opted out if she was in such a hurry. Rebecca also steadfastly refused the corporate scheduling model (which allocates no more than 20 minutes per patient) giving each her full attention and not glancing at her watch. I would trade a 30 minute wait for a thoughtful consultation any day. I don't know where you go for medical care now, Jennifer, but a 30 minute wait seems about average anyway. And most importantly, when I was a single mom with no health insurance and working a collection of part time jobs to keep food on the table, Rebecca took care of me. She called it a "sliding scale" but she assured me that I should pay only when it was comfortable for me to do so. She never made me feel like a charity case or less than. I know she did the same for many others, including helping out at BEDS (our local homeless shelter). She took little interest in her appearance because there were far more important things on her mind. Like helping the homeless. NOT JOKING!!

You are in a vulnerable position (both figuratively and literally). Serious health issues are being discussed, etc. If you are fortunate enough to score a new patient visit, put your fears to rest. It may take you a while to get in to see her (she's popular for a reason), but once you do, you too will be put to ease with her approachable nature. And yes, as Carol K stated, she sits and talks to you while you're fully clothed and discusses your health concerns. (So much better than meeting someone while you are wrapped in little more than an oversized paper towel with arm holes) I found her to be efficient, knowledgable and thorough. She recommended a few tests for me, including full blood work. After we got the results, she again sat and talked with me about what my options were. She gave me three different ways to approach the situation, and I really appreciated that I was a part of the decision making process. I strongly believe that the doctor and patient should work together as partners towards a solution. And that is how Dr Spencer operates. I needed a new doctor and after asking several women friends, and my internist, for a recommendation, Dr. Spencer's name kept rising to the top of everyone's list. Practicing as part of the Women's Health Care in Hinsdale, Dr. Spencer's style and simple explanations help make each appointment less stressful and more informational which certainly helps as you manage your health. If you are a new patient, she will sit with you prior to your appointment (and with all your clothes on! Yay!) to better understand you, your needs and why exactly you have come to her. Talk about a small world. While we were doing this "get to know you" session, it turns out that we grew up in Michigan within blocks of each other and even went to the same schools! I am constantly amazed at how people's lives intersect! But that's another story for another day. The office staff is efficient and do what they say they will do when they say they will do it. They are also committed to making sure you understand any of the tests you may be having or the results from that test explained to you. While I may be a bit biased toward women doctors as they too live in bodies like mine each and every day, Dr. Spencer won my trust with her knowledge, "bedside manner" and just overall being someone that I'd like to hang around with. And I don't say that about all the health professionals in my life!

I would and will continue to follow him any where because he is the only physician who has treated me with dignity and respect through some of the most challenging moments regarding my health. He worked tirelessly to find me the help I needed outside of his specialty by consulting other physicians to make sure he found someone who could actually help me when other doctors were turning me away. He never once gave up on me or finding a solution. Even better, he never let me give up when I wanted to most. He relentlessly advocated for me to put myself and my heath first. He believed in me even when test results came back conflicting. He never stoped ordering tests or exploring alternative options. In the end, I ended up at Mayo Clinic which he supported by providing the physicians I saw there with any and all information they needed regarding my medical history and making himself readily available to them during my time there. He also supported me through the passing of my husband, who he also treated and tried to help with his struggles. His compassion and genuine caring nature knows no bounds and he will always take his time and truly listen to you rather than rushing in, then rushing out before you can even say a word. Dr. Garg is not only an amazing physician, he's also a stellar human being who understands that overall health and wellness goes beyond just taking medication.
