I would not personally recommend this experience for families with young children.
I visited with my 2-year-old daughter, and unfortunately our experience was not very positive. At one point, I tried to get my daughter's attention so she would cooperate, and I overheard comments that seemed to express frustration about parents interfering with the artist's work. I completely understand that he is experienced at getting the subject's attention on his own. However, if there was a concern about noise or distractions, I would have appreciated being asked directly and politely rather than overhearing complaints. I was able to hear and understand comments being made in English, and the overall atmosphere became quite tense. In fact, everyone waiting nearby suddenly became very quiet, which made the experience feel awkward.
I do appreciate the time and effort that went into creating the portrait. However, I was disappointed with the final result. My husband and several others agreed that the drawing did not closely resemble our child. It appeared to depict an older child and did not accurately capture many of her facial features or her ethnicity. However, others with different backgrounds or appearances may have a different experience.
Although I was disappointed with both the interaction and the final portrait, I am giving two stars rather than one because I appreciate the time and effort that went into creating something for my child. read more
