If you're not…read morelooking for it, it's down an adorable alley that leads back to one of the oldest buildings in Brussels. We took a seat at a high top in their super cute courtyard and waited for our server. He stopped by and collected our order....sort of. Since the kitchen was closed, we opted for their burrata salad and an order of hummus. We also got a delicious gin and tonic and a Ginette beer (first time!). I asked for their WiFi password to which I was told 'sorry' since their bandwidth was slow and they needed it to run credit cards. Whomp whomp. After the salad, we were still waiting for the hummus, which never came, but overall the food was delsih. Overall, I'd say this place is more of an experience of old Brussels rather than a foodie destination. If you need to rest your feet and have a beer, this place is just fine.

For example, you could spend maybe 2-3 more euros on a beer here than one of comparable type at another, but they have an impressive beer menu. It's also not as obvious as other bars/pubs in the center, which is kinda cool. They also serve food here, which we did not try. I thought it was a fun spot, but if you're on a budget (or a student like me), it might be better to get your Belgian beer fix elsewhere.

This time, we went to get the taste of bad, watery cocktails from dinner out of our mouths. The wife was interested in trying absinthe the drip way. She got an absinthe vert, canne to the table with the fountain, sugar cube, the whole shabang. I ordered Corto Maltesse the Mandarine Napoléon which had Litchi et Cardamome, Prosecco, Eau Pétillante, Citron. Delicious. I can recommend this spot highly for the gin, of course, as well as their cocktails. Well prepared. Also, only 6€ for the absinthe? Looks like we'll be coming more often to share a fountain!

The decor, while some a bit creepy, is also a reason to at least stop in for a drink. The food won't wow you, but it will not disappoint either. Service is solid. Again, nothing to brag about but they do their best. I came before the crowds surrounded Manneken Pis and found there was plenty of room. When I walked by later, I found it was much busier (no surprise), so worth keeping that in mind. Also, worth noting, they have a small section of outdoor seating to take advantage of if the weather is nice.

Somehow glad that we were corralled into this cafe by the riot police after the clashes between Moroccan and Belgium fans following the World Cup match. It was a pleasant respite away from the chaos ensuing outside.
