Skilled Nursing for those not completely demented or unable to move about was practically non-exixtent. The only "care" I can say I received was distribution of meds. Most of the aides were good hearted; Ms LaKora stands out as exceptional and deserves recognition. Re-hab gym, and. Physical Therapists offered only value . Checking out on Day 20 was a surprise, as social worker and her assistant had already assumed I would pay $219-$290 for twenty first day, not covered by Medicare. Discharge was chaotic and incomplete. Home Health equipment, including a hospital bed, bedside commode, traveling wheelchair and bath transfer bench NEVER ARRIVED. I bought my own wheelchair and bedside commode myself and chose to sleep on the couch, my only option as I remain non weight bearing and incapable of navigating freely in my home, two weeks after discharge. read more

Being this generally about foid, lets talk about food. If you like cold imitation eggs you'll love thus place. It is served with cold sausage and soft toast. Sounds better than it looks. Last night was a chili dig. The bun came right of the refrigerator. The hot dog was very cold with a Tbs of cold pseudo chile on top. Spice cake is ďelucious, if you dont like spice. Lemon pie is delicious - both bites. Mixed fruut is wonderful if you like pineapple. I had it with the cottage cheese I ordered for breakfast that came about 3PM. I really dread leaving. I was asked bt my favorite nurse to remove comments, but how could I be not be honest. Hate your elderly parent? I have just the place for them. read more

Do not send your loved ones here. The building itself is nice, but the med techs could truly not care less about their patients. The care here I would even go as far to say is abuse and neglect. The staff was changing my bed and I was sitting in a chair. I was unsteady and fell. The manager talked badly about me in front of me. I Would NOT recommend this place. NEVER ! Do not live here. The rehab staff were helpful and nice. read more

This is the worst facility ever, my mother has only been there for a week and has not received breakfast twice already, and has been left in her feces all night until 11 in the morning when I arrived, and the nurse was very rude, had an attitude and thought it was funny, she has fallen because there was no assistance when called, they forgot about her and she was left on the toilet for 30 minutes and she had to get up and to crawl to the bed. The nurses here are and rude, disrespectful, and don't do their job. All night they chit-chat and they are so loud the elders can't sleep. In this facility your loved ones are just a paycheck, I will be removing my mother at once from this facility!! read more

The facility is modern and clean....no smell of a nursing facility. And I am sure that they are understaffed, but the quality of care is sub par. My family member is not ready for Physical Theory on time, his IV was not changed on time, he was left in the bathroom for over an hour. Many of the support personal are very supporting, some just have a very bad attitude. His lunch arrived while at PT and the staff was snippy about warming it up. They don't answer a call button call timely. Food is reasonable and well served, and while my family member doesn't like it, there are no complaints. Wish I had never put my LO in this facility where they allowed her to lay for hours in stroke status. Telling me she was being treated for dehydration. Never mentioning her BP was stroke level. When we got there to ck on her we immediately knew she had a stroke. No one in the medical field could see this? CNA told us she tried to tell nurse something was bad wrong. Awful experience that changed her and our lives forever. I know for a fact that were fined by the state. Which their site says no to. Don't ever leave your LO there! I trusted these nurses on their medical abilities. I truly believe 2 ppl should have had their license revolked. The state doesn't care about your LO and Texas is rated near the bottom in skilled nursing care. read more

My husband spent the whole month of December 2018 at this facility. From the outside the facility looks beautiful but the inside tells a different story. It is supposed to be a skilled nursing facility. All the nurses do is pass out medicine. My husband fell twice while he was there. He fell and cut his head open. The doctor,whom he didn't even see, ordered an x-ray of his head. The next day at the dialysis center,he was sent to the hospital because his blood was so thin. Since he takes blood thinner,they did a cat scan of his head. This is just one of the bad experiences that we had there. He was supposed to have rehab to help him walk. He had very little rehab and laying in bed his muscles became so weak he could never walk. He never saw the doctor though he was critically ill. He only came to the room to talk to me after I became very upset. My husband spent October in Baylor. He spent November at Life /care Hospital. He was transferred here and received very little to no care. After one last trip to the hospital ( after my insistence) on Dec 27,he came home on Jan 1,2019. He was taken back to hospital on January 11 and died January 15. The month of December this facility billed Medicare $29,000. This was far too much for the care he received. I would never want anyone I know to take their family or friends there. I tried to talk to various personal there and they were not opened to any of my complaints. Please take my advice and turn away from this facility. There is a reason for all the empty beds. My last review has been removed. read more

Horrible care was provided for our family member. He was there for physical therapy to help him walk again but instead, he was left laying and sitting and developed one of the worst bed sore wounds that can be imagined. This would was not treated properly therefore it became an open wound approximately 3-4 inches wide and another 4cm all the way around under the skin. This serious situation and negligence resulted in a huge setback for him and we pray he will recover. read more

We were very nervous about placing my 93 yr old father here due to the poor reviews; however they did accept patients with power wheel chairs (many facilities we contacted did not) and they had cable TV that included ESPN. The rehab facility he had been in did not have ESPN and several places we talked to did not get ESPN. So, we decided to give it a try. There have been bumps along the road, especially in the beginning as there is a learning curve for both the patient/family and the staff, but the important thing is that when there's a problem, the staff is very responsive and make every effort to get it resolved. The employees are friendly and helpful. The facility recently obtained walkie talkies and that has greatly improved communications. The Director of Nursing is new, and in a word, she is awesome. Very concerned about patient care and resolving any issues. The administrator is also excellent and very responsive. The maintenance man also deserves praise. He is innovative and quick to get things done. I'm not saying there aren't problems, but if you've had experience with a loved one in a nursing home, you know that things don't go well 100% of the time. The key is that the staff cares and resolves problems. read more

This facility obtained a new Executive Director, (Jana) in the fall & a new Nursing Director (Yvette) in the winter. With these two professionals, I'm proud to say things are turning around, at the VOM. Both Jana & Yvette, have gone above & beyond the call of duty. They genuinely care about the facility, employees, patients & family members. I feel very comfortable going to either one of them for any concern, no matter how big or how small. I find that to be an asset. Most all employees in the hallways speak to people, as they pass. They also wear their name tags, which is a definite plus in my book. Some of them refer to my father, as Papa & I love that! My father can be ornery at times, but, they seem to over-look that & focus on his true, sweet diposition. He seems happy & never complains about the food. The kitchen staff has been attentive to his needs. The maintenance man (Luis) is quick to lend a helping hand. Daddy adores his evening LVN (Nini). There is no perfect place, to put your loved one. I did my nursing home research & was leary about the VOM, due to the past reviews. However, I'm so glad we made this decision & I am able to frequently visit. I firmly believe that between Jana & Yvette's perseverance, the VOM is going to turn itself around! read more

My sister has been to so many different nursing homes and she has finally found a place to call home.I recently moved my sister from another nursing home to Villages on MacArthur and all I can say is that I am very happy with the care that she is getting. The staff is nice and helpful. The DON Amanda, ADON Obe and the Administrator Alex are a great team and have really turned things around for the better. My father came here for rehab after an amputation...he didnt feel safe..we didnt feel safe...NOBODY tended to him ...they didnt even give him food the way they should...if it wasnt for my sister in the medical field, nothing would get done for him...staff is rude & unresponsive & incompetant...if i could rate zero stars i would!!!....PLEASE if you have a loved one do not send them here!!! read more

This place is the most unprofessional rehab that I have every experienced. My mother went there for a second time, ended up back in the hospital and passed May 17. I paid 2 weeks up front in April and my mom wasn't there 2 weeks, it is the middle of Sept and still can't get an answer why I have no refund. Don't waist your time dealing with these people, do your research and chose another rehab. read more

So scary and so expensive. The front door creeks just like a horror film and shuts automatically after you enter....need I say more?!?! I miss my Mom. she passed into God's hands in January of 2019. This place is only a place you would put a person if you hated them. I would not! They put an office chair next to my Mom's bed with steel knives and forks in hopes that she would hurt another innocent wonderer. I worked in a nursing home. For someone like my Mom who suffered from dementia in her finale years and sun downing, I knew what this staff was trying to do. They would give her incorrect dosages of insulin and feed her spinach for breakfast. Do not put anyone you love in this facility! read more

I toured The Villages on MacArthur yesterday and it is clean and very well maintained. The Residents were all well groomed well dressed and they were happy. Staff and resident interaction were a pleasure to watch. Residents and staff alike lit up when the Director of Nurses came through talking to them. She took time to talk to each resident, the affection was mutual and real. She told me she had been working there two years, and I can say without a doubt, the energy and passion she has, is shared by her staff. Because of my work I go to a lot of facilities and this is maybe the best I have seen. read more

My husband was in there and i would not recommend this place at all. His wound was left open at times. Wound care came and started his dressing changes but would often leave and have the nurses do it. His PICC line dressing was almost off and I had to go tell them even though they did his IV daily. He was never given a menu to chose his meals until it was mentioned. They discharged him home with a PICC line in and no wound care or home health care set up. No home health or wound vac was ever ordered for him. None of my loved ones will ever be coming here. My husband is back in the hospital today and may lose his foot and it is all because of the care that he did not receive here. read more

My dad just went home last week from Villages on MacArthur. He was unable to walk on his own after having a stroke and needed therapy. Aside from the place being beautiful, the people their were friendly and caring. And the therapy he received was top notch! My mom had a stroke 06/2017 and came here for rehab. I was hesitant because they offer rehab but are not a rehab hospital. I was assured that the rehab was awesome by admissions. So this is what I think of this place. The staff is pleasant. All of the nurses that WE had were willing to help, kind and treated my mother with respect. My mother never had a complaint about the medical staff and neither did I. The one review where the person said they plug them up and bill them is true. I initially felt the same but after giving it more time I saw the bigger picture which was she was eating decent food, given her meds timely, was always clean and the staff treated her respectfully. The rehab portion was very minimal. This was extremely important to us as this was the reason she was here. She received rehab about 5 times/wk for about 1hr which I didn't like. I wanted more aggressive therapy because she was completely independent and is no longer independent. When I had her husband (who was there round the clock) ask about more aggressive therapy they up'ed it to 1 1/2 hrs for a few days but still ended up being around 1 hr only. I preferred a place that pushed the patient and didn't accept they simply did not want to participate. So if you come here for aggressive rehab...DONT! The rehab staff was nice and friendly but nice and friendly is not why you come here. If your family member needs minimal rehab then you can come here but if the goal is SOME independence after a major stroke then this is not the place. The major things I did not like was the doctor visited my mom once/wk at least and twice at best which makes it hard to communicate and ask questions. You need a doctor on staff daily...just something to look for when searching for a facility. The place is ran by the nursing staff but they are competent and knowledgeable. The other major problem was when my mom was discharged....here's the good... they loaned us a wheelchair as we did not have one yet, they gave us a few days after discharge to take my mom home to make it more convenient for me due to work. The bad...the social worker was not very knowledgeable regarding services and helpful things in the Dallas area. I felt as though the goal was to staff the facility with long term patients (nursing home care) because the facility cant run with empty beds. I feel that her willingness to help was zero. I later learned that the social worker was new to the area which is no excuse for her lack of help. If you don't know the answer, you should find out. When I asked about additional services, helpful things regarding obtaining medical equipment she told me to GOOGLE government services that might be able to help. So as a suggestion she will need to increase her knowledge base to be a better asset to the company but mostly the families. If you're not an asset to the families then you're not an asset to the company. A few days later my mom went to the emergency room because we thought she was having another stroke (no fault to MacArthur let me make that clear) but the social worker at BAYLOR (Irving location) wrote us a referral for ALL of the medical equipment we need and the doctor wrote us a prescription for this equipment and we will have it ALL FOR FREE. It is 09/26/2017. My mom was released 09/19/2017. If your loved one needs MINIMAL care to return to self sufficiency (broken arm, hip replacement) then this place is fine but if you're looking for a place where minimal effort is not the norm and working hard to improve your loved ones quality of life is the goal then this is not the place. SERIOUSLY. I wish I had of taken my mother to a rehab hospital instead. You live and you learn. Hope this helps someone. Thanks read more
