You may have to wait a little bit longer but I would much rather pass the time alone in the room with my cat rather than have her carrier be sniffed by dogs. Dr. Brinker and the techs have great bedside manner and really listen to my concerns. I feel confident in the suggestions that she makes for the plan of care and when I had to leave my cat overnight I wasn't worried. That is another service they offer; if you cannot bring your pet at the scheduled appointment time then you can drop them off before you head to work and come pick them up before their office closes. It is not the cheapest vet in the area but the pricing is still reasonable and you really get what you pay for. I've only started coming here 2 months ago but I will happily return as a loyal customer.

Warning / Experience with Countryside Animal Health Center (Dr. Love)…read more ​I wanted to share an experience I had this morning to caution other local pet owners, especially those with animals sensitive to vaccines or having medical illness. ​My indoor cat, Gracie, woke up very sick today. She was clearly distressed, and emptied her full bladder directly on me in bed--a clear cry for help. She is an established patient at Countryside Animal Health Center, so I called right away to get her evaluated. When scheduling, I was upfront that she could not receive a rabies booster today because she had an adverse reaction to her last one (two to three days of severe lethargy where I honestly wasn't sure she would pull through). ​When we arrived, I explained Gracie's acute symptoms and medical history to the technician and offered to sign a waiver for the rabies shot so we could focus on whatever infection or illness she is actively battling. Instead of professional care, the tech walked into the back room, and I could clearly hear the staff and doctor laughing and openly making fun of me through the door for asking to sign a waiver. ​When Dr. Love walked in, she didn't examine Gracie. She gave me an ultimatum: Gracie had to get the rabies vaccine right then and there, or she would refuse to see her. ​Turning away an animal in active distress because the owner won't consent to giving a non-emergency booster to a sick pet cat who almost died from their last shot is horrifying. Not to mention the cat is indoors with zero exposure to other animals. Also, giving an acutely sick cat a shot today doesn't magically make rabies disappear if you were to have been bitten today, genius. It takes 10 days to take effect/ provide immunity. The complete lack of compassion and professionalism was shocking. I left immediately to find another clinic that actually prioritizes animal welfare. ​Please be careful taking your pets here if they have special medical histories or need urgent, compassionate care. Gracie is scheduled elsewhere today. Keep her in your thoughts. I can give an update if interested.

Over the years, we've seen all the vets in this practice and have never felt anything but gratitude for their compassion, kindness, and professionalism. I have the highest respect for all of the vets and staff, and specifically, Dr. Mayer who cared for our sweet pal and went above and beyond with information, support, and phone calls. I still think they should stop selling…read morekittens and puppies (they don't know who they are really sourcing from and the care is not great still.) The reptiles and fish's care has increased a ton, and they are always stocking new fish which gives aquarium hobbyist a large selection to choose from. They do keep getting adult turtles in that do not have proper care taken of them so I really wish they'd take the extra 10 minutes to set up a basking spot or stop taking them in at all :( The snakes aren't on frozen thawed which should be changed because it would entice customers to buy and be safer for the animals (most snake keepers want f/t rodents). They are new owners and still have a lot to learn but they are doing great so far for what they know! I definitely recommend them setting up a CO2 system for the large plant and discus tank because the plants in there would do a million times better and would sell so much more. CO2 with a timer is a small cost for the profit they'd get as an investment for the store. I do think they need to try and go above and beyond with the care of their animals to make this store really great, but for now it is an okay pet store, the thing saving it being variety of the fish they stock. I know they are working on display areas so I look forward to seeing those in the future. They also don't seem to be quarantining their fish and I know that the whole system is run from the same water. I have not seen any sick fish as of yet BUT that doesn't mean it won't happen in the future and could wipe out their entire stock if they're not more careful. They also need to be stocking more guppies that are not feeder fish (so many people keep guppies so I'm very surprised they don't.) If they modernized the store and made the appearances better as well as advertised more they could really get their business known. People really appreciate it when stores take great care of their animals and know what they are talking about. I think research should be put into every animal they decide to stock so they know how to care for it and can provide new owners information as well. As an example, Preuss Pets in lansing is an incredible store and if they could rival something even close to that they'd be really doing well. Customer service is pretty good, everyone is friendly and helpful. TLDR: They stock really cool fish, has improved a lot but needs a lot more work. Still recommend!
